Arriving here was wonderful, as the views from the windows over the sea & Headland of Lynton was magnificent, especially with the sunshine. Why we booked was because of the views from all windows, and they were just stunning. BUT! When we went in, i had requested that the twin beds in one bedroom be linked, they were not, and we had no towels there either. Contacted cleaners eventually came & said laughing and i checked that! The wardrobe was so narrow and just had children's hangers in. No good what so ever for a weeks stay. It seemed they wanted more pictures on the walls, than what you really needed. Therefore our clothes were mostly still in cases on the floor around us, not good. 2nd bedroom no wardrobe at all only pegs on the wall. It was the kitchen though, no cupboards for our dry goods, so we have had all the food either side of the sink. But plenty of pictures in the kitchen instead! Bin broken one side. Worse was by the k/door we had the mop & bucket, hoover all on show with a dripping tap. When you are eating in there not the view you want to see. We had to pour lots of water down the shower traps as they smelt rank, & could not understand how anyone could not have noticed, once done was fine. Plenty of hot water, with a little bit of thought this would be fabulous, because of the views, cupboards in kitchen to put things away, wardrobes for clothes instead of around the floor, if the door opened the other way in the kitchen a false door could be put in front of the mop, bucket & hoover so not an eyesore. So after really looking forward to a wonderful stay especially for that price we paid, we all left feeling unimpressed & underwhelmed! A great shame. Thought all rented holiday places had to be checked out.…

Wow what a view from these absolutely idyllic apartments. We stayed at The Orangery with our small dog, only 3 accepts dogs. The communal garden is a must and a sun trap with a bottle of chilled wine and the view, wow, how I miss that view! We walked down into Lynmouth and got the Cliff Railway back up.

We stayed in Blue Bay apartment - it was fantastic. As you approach from the drive and car park there is a serious wow factor with the view. The apartment was done up to a really high standard - even better than comes across in the photos. We loved the layout with upstairs living and m aster bedroom and a huge space downstairs which had a double, single and its own bathroom plus a desk area. The views over the bay from the sitting room and upstairs bedroom were mesmerising - and the sight of the land and cliffs opposite breathtaking. We found there was plenty of space for us - mother, grandmother, a 12 and 9 year old and a cockapoo. The location is a few minutes walk from Lynton - you must try the cinema and Spicy Mare take away - and a lovely walk down zig zag paths to Lynmouth. The funicular is really handy too if you don"t fancy the pull back up the hill. The location is so good we haven't had to use our car once (Monday to Friday) and there's lots to do if wild walks, investigating the pebble beach, looking for Dippers and Cormorants, pubs, cafes, fine Indian food (Spicy Mare), 68 seat cinema (really friendly intimate experience), and wide breath taking views are your thing.…

Booked the Seaview Terrace apartment via Marsdens, moved from May due to the pandemic. We have stayed in The Orangery previously, and I am afraid to say although the view is better by far in this apartment, fixtures and fittings need attention. Start with the good- perfect view from all but the kitchen area, comfortable furnishings, good TV and signal, lovely kitchen and bathrooms. Mostly spotless apart from glasses and cutlery finger prints (not good re. CoVid) and table runner marked. Bed and pillows too hard for our liking, and didn’t sleep well at all. Mattress cover stained, surprising as they asked us to strip the beds. Some light bulbs out, second bedroom damp and intended for child only occupation realistically. No welcome pack which was delivered the next day due to ‘rushing’ to get us in. Our fault then. Please don’t let things slip any further as this is a wonderful place to relax, and an excellent base to explore beautiful Exmoor. Bring some good binoculars. …

I would like to have visited this excellent cottage in May or later but due to the booking agent Sykes Cottages failure to give a refund following Covid cancellation I have lost all the rental paid. DON'T DEAL WITH SYKES COTTAGES I wish the owner of Bayview Terrace well,

I booked an apartment as a surprise for my H2b, and we stayed in October (off season) just as a storm hit that weekend. The Apartment was cosy and welcoming, exceptionally clean and tidy. You can park right outside, so very easy and convenient. Beautiful views over the sea, and a really great breakfast in the morning served by a lovely waitress. We enjoyed lots of walks down the hill into the town. When we returned home i realised we had left something in the apartment - the owner went above and beyond and posted this back to us! Exceptional service. Cant wait to go back.

we had a weekend at the cottage apartments, self catering. The Bayview terrace apartment . As others have described, it is really well worth it, the facilities were good, and the views are second to none. If you want a place to getaway and relax this is it.

We stayed here over New Year and the photos probably oversell the property somewhat. It's obviously just been renovated and a lot of it was lovely, just not luxury as described. Being the penthouse it's up a couple of flights of stairs (there is a lift) but for some reason there is carpet all the way up to the front door of the property and no door mats anywhere or a place to put your muddy boots. There was insufficient crockery really for a family of six, with only six plates we ended up washing up after every meal rather than being able to chuck it in the dishwasher to be put on at the end of the day. The cutlery doesn't fit into the dishwasher compartment. The bathroom lacked basics such as somewhere to put your toothbrush. Only one light worked in my daughter's bedroom when we arrived, we bought lightbulbs when we were in Barnstaple. It felt like maybe the property had been completed to hit the holiday season, when actually it still had some snagging to be dealt with (missing skirting etc). That said, we had a fab stay in Lynton, loved seeing Paddington2 at the quaint cinema that seats only 60, encountered a lovely cafe owner who went home to get us some chestnuts for our nut roast and had the most delicious meal in The Vanilla Pod! The Rising Sun in Lynmouth is a lovely pub, we stopped here a couple of times after a walk.…

Response from William G, Owner at Lynton Cottage Seaview Apartments
Responded 17 Jan 2018
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. The Apartment was fully occupied during the whole of Summer 2017 and the quality of this new conversion has been very well received. Despite the constraints of being within a Listed building, it is amongst the best on Exmoor. None of the minor points referred to have previously been mentioned. So thank you for bringing them to our attention, and we will investigate. There are black boot trays are provided in each Apartment as many of our Guests are keen walkers. The wall lights do work but on individual pull cord operation. Our Housekeeper would happily have provided additional items if requested, but I accept the point. We provide as many photos as possible, for every Apartment, so that potential Guests may get the best understanding possible of the premises. As a Hotelier of many years experience, I would caution anybody from booking any accommodation that did not provide this. No photos = nothing to show off. Regrettably in the middle of winter, no accommodation is going to be as attractive as in the main summer season, and hence the discounted tariffs that are applicable. We look forward to seeing you in August. regards Bill
