Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This was our fourth stay at the Seawood and it was a family celebration for our sons birthday we had two rooms, The Watersmeet Suite and Lee Bay both rooms were superb which is no more than we have come to expect. Nothing is to much trouble for Gillian and Martyn and their chef Nigel, and their sole aim is to please. They coped extremely well with the covid-19 restrictions face masks were worn, hand sanitizer was readily available and all things that required sanitizing were. We felt completely safe at all times and having the facility for dinner at the hotel made sure we had no need to mix outside, well done to you all. We will be definitely back,AGAIN1

we stayed here for two nights and the hotel let us check in earlier rather than 3pm, this helped a lot and gave us the rest of the day, the views are the best ever great sunrise over the mountains, peter and mary anne was so help full in every we way.
the food was great and you get a better view and deal eating at the hotel than going out, Valley of rocks is a five minute walk from here and views again are breath taking, the cliff top rail goes from the bottom to the top where the hotel is and we walked down and got the rail up, Lynton is a better location than any where I have seen and every beach or village is no more than 40 mins away drive. we went to the south and was packed so is you want peace and quite go to the Seawood you wont be disappointed !!!!

Stayed for 5 nights, on ease of lockdown. Was great to do something ‘normal’ and the Seawood Hotel while conforming to Covid regulations, made our stay one to remember.
Gill and Martin made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, thank you x
The hotel is spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and in a great position for exploring both Lynton and Lynmouth as the cliff railway is literally on the back doorstep.
The breakfast was delicious, with a great choice and as my husband has some dietary requirements, Nigel the chef cooked to order.
Thank you to Laura for looking after us so well.
We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend..
See you soon 😘

Amazing location and warm welcome at this hotel, really not a 5 star. Shame really, just a few minor details could make a great difference ... clean outside seating that would allow enjoyment of the breathtaking views ... greater breakfast selection and general service overall.

Martyn & Gillian run a wonderfully welcoming and friendly hotel. The setting & views are heavenly - the atmosphere is warm, and the food on the table is plentiful. Indeed, on one occasion it brought tears to my eyes as a reminder of the kind of thing my mother would have made - in a really wonderful way. The very best of homecooking, served with kindness and a smile. My room was large and comfortable, with windows facing in two directions, sofas and a TV, and a very comfortable bed where I had the best sleep I've had in ages. Worth every penny, and I recommend the Seawood wholeheartedly.

We stayed in Ragged Jack back in September, but have only just got around writing this review, The Hotel is great, superb views from the room and the hotel, plus great service. I would often sit in our room and take in the view, it's just beautiful we even managed to have breakfast on the terrace one morning when the weather was good, which happened to be my birthday so this was such a nice treat. The staff are a real credit to the hotel, special thanks go out to Laura and Peter (although I think I may have misspelt their names) they really do look after you, and make you feel welcome and go the extra mile, the breakfasts are superb. There are so many great walks on your doorstep, but it's also a good base to go to nearby places. They were no longer doing evening meals - but did send a recommendation of places to book, we stayed a week and booked in a different place every night, definitely book the old Bank early to make sure you get a table as it only small and is superb food, it was quite nice knowing what restaurant you were going to every night, and we had some great meals, all inc the Thai are in walking distance of the hotel. Lynton and Lymington are both great little places to potter around in. Having never been to Lynton before, we will definitely be back and return to the Seawood hotel. We loved the honesty bar, saved us having to find a bar after dinner and we always met other guests and chatted about where we had been for dinner etc.

Anyone visiting this area should stay at this boutique hotel, the minute you walk in you are looked after by Launo and Petne who are professional, friendly and extremely attentive. This hotel is spotlessly clean and the breakfast was amazing. The hot-tub was opened up for us to enjoy and unwind. As one hotelier to another, this place is an absolute gem. You’ve got everything right. We cannot wait to return again, thank you.

This beautiful Victorian style hotel is perched high on the slopes over looking the Lynmouth Bay. High enough to give wonderful panoramic views , but close enough to hear the waves crashing on the bolder strewn beach.
My room on the first floor was well appointed, with a duel aspect offering great views and creating a bright, light feel.
Breakfast was very good with, with a nice choice. Produced and delivered to your table by the ever friendly and cheerful staff.
Access to lynton is an easy walk though the walk back up from lynmouth is a challenge. So why not take the funicular! And on your return make use of the charming victorian parlour, honesty bar, and more views.

We visited Lynton and Lynmouth for the first time and stayed in the Seawood Hotel. The hotel is a short way down a narrow road and has its own car park.

Checkin was simple and straightforward and the room on the top floor was beautifully presented with a lovely view over the bay towards the cliffs. We were able to watch the surfers each day from the room.

Breakfast was lovely with a very good choice and ready very quickly.

There is also a beautiful lounge to sit and enjoy a drink. And there is an honesty bar providing beer, wines, and spirits if required.

From the end of the drive you just need to turn left for a beautiful walk along the cliff path ending at Castle Rock and beyond. The walk down to Lynmouth was easy and Lynmouth was lovely to walk round. The walk back is VERY hard and steep.

Overall we had a lovely stay and wished we had booked longer than our three night break!

This is a lovely old grade 2 listed hotel with 8 spacious clean rooms (with bath and shower en-suite) with truly super views across the bay. The beds were supremely comfortable. The service was friendly. The food was very good; In particular the excellent quality of the sausages, bacon and tomatoes were proof that thought had gone into the sourcing of good quality produce for our freshly cooked breakfast.

It’s accessed by a short one lane road with tight bends but there is only minimal traffic. Parking looked tight but as people parked sensibly this worked out fine.

There lounge is lovely and there is a small bar off the Resturant. There is a patio area with seating also.
