Having stayed here before 4 years ago and met 2 couples, who we stayed in touch with. Covid put paid to us all meeting up again. This year finally we had our reunion and of course it was like there had been 4 days not 4 years between visits. Not least because as previously, our dear Treasured friend Liza made us all welcome and we had a wonderful 5 days. As before the breakfasts were PERFECT, the room comfortable and the pool, heated. Liza is the most wonderful lady. An astute business woman with a kind touch and an amazing sense of humour. Thank you again Liza, you're amazing!! See you again soon hopefully. What a delightful place. We were the only guests in the hotel at this time and we genuinely don't know why. The place is set in lovely gardens, the hotel was spotless and breakfast was great. The owner is a fantastic lady who can't do enough for you. Definitely returning.

Just got back from a weeks break at this great hotel ,The grounds and pool area are immaculately kept .Breakfast was excellent always hot and replenished quickly,Went as a group of three family couples and all said we would definitely return . Liza and staff were excellent from start to finish . The hotel is close to the train station and for the first time on a holiday we parked the car and did not use it until we departed .Thankyou Liza

Stayed here for 5 days. Very clean and welcoming family run establishment. Checked in on arrival, asked to pay up front and given the key. We weren’t shown to our room, there is no lift so lugging cases up stairs is not that great. When we found it I was disappointed. It was at the back of the property and although we had booked a twin room we were given a double. It over looked the park which is ok but the windows didn’t shut properly, ok the weather was warm, but one complete window had ‘ blown’ and needs replacing. Breakfast was lovely. Buffet style and all Covid regulations were in place. Pool was supposed to be heated, it wasn’t, needed attention as quite grubby. As a safety feature the decking path to the carpark DEFINITELY needs some form of hand rail or safety barrier. It’s steep and got slippery one morning after over night rain. The owner is a nice lady but kept asking if anyone wants to buy the place.

We stayed at Elmington Hotel for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and had an amazing view of the bay. Every staff member we encountered were delightful and eager to help. The hotel owner, Lisa, especially made us feel welcome. She was always friendly and helpful making suggestions on what to do in Torquay. The hotel is very close to the train station and a very easy 10 min-walk into town along the esplanade. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Elmington Hotel and would highly recommend it.

I can’t begin to explain how friendly, welcoming clean and relaxed this guest house is. I stayed as a solo traveler in room 11 which looks as though the bathroom has just been installed. Piping hot water, room & towels cleaned/replaced daily. Staff at breakfast extremely attentive, lovely fresh buffet style breakfast, cereals, juices, tea coffee. Not continental but never did enjoy that anyway. Liza the owner is helpful, informative, knowledgeable and has run this guest house for over 20 years and has many regulars and now I understand why!!! She is friendly, kind and made me feel totally at ease being a solo traveller and within a stones throw of the station. If you leave the back of the station and look over the road to your right you will see a steep hill that bares round to the left. As you go to go up the hill you will see a little car park on your left go in and across the car park to a wooden slatted path and that leads you to the front door of the guest house (rather than going to the top of the steep hill and walking round the front). I won’t hesitate on booking again & can understand why this place is usually fully booked. Thank you again Liza xx

The Elmington is a hotel with lots of old world charm. It is spotlessly clean. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful. We booked two rooms - one for us and another for our recently bereaved elderly father. Liz agreed to move him from the 3rd floor to the first floor as the steps were absolutely too much for him. We went out for a walk and returned to find her sitting chatting to our father. She was clearly extremely busy but took the time to listen to him. This was very meaningful to us. The breakfast is basic but filling. The staff very friendly. The rooms are definitely dated but comfortable. We really appreciated the location as we were able to walk down to the front and yet get away from all of the noise and traffic coming back to the hotel. The garden is really attractive and the pool a real delight after being out and about.

Very disappointed, hotel is very dated..never been a 4 star..maybe a 2 star.. Very small single room,, the shower ,,WOW ,the worst ive ever experienced in my life..cold with the slightest trickle,,every day and night..my mates was the same..it took 2 minutes for any water to come out of the shower,, The breakfast was poor ,cheep sausage and dry bacon,,everything was just warm, the waiter spilt orange juice all over the table and never cleaned it up .lisa seemed polite .(the owner )

Stayed from Monday -Friday , Inistial reaction, Very well presented, clean , staff polite and considerate. However the bed in room 11 was rock hard , and I would have been more comfortable on the floor ! I was told all the mattresses were the same , so had to purchase a mattress topper to get a decent nights sleep, it was very noisy in my room , the next door room seemed to have its bathroom right by my bed :( Other people's room doors either side of me were constantly being slammed at all times , because people couldn't be bothered to close the door quietly with their door key !?My shower leaked every where , and I had to clean up the really wet floor every time showered 🤨 Breakfast was served between 8-9 , There was only a choice of cooked breakfast or cereal , no fruit or yogart available or other healthy options 🤔 This hotel is advertised as 4 star , I'm afraid its barely a 2 star , and so I am unable to recommend it I'm afraid, could improve greatly, ...
