Clean . Lisa the owner was a lovely person who took pride in all that she did .it was like being in a miniature palace . Breakfast superb boxed cereals also self service with an all you can eat hot breakfast . ALL COVID RULES ADHERED TOO . Gloves provided at the breakfast drinks served by clean masked worn staff wipeable tablecloths what a great idea . . Fully stocked bar . Would have loved dinner there as the atmosphere was very chilled . towels frequently changed also tea coffee in the room . Iv read on some reviews it’s dated furniture but can I say the furniture was beautiful if you like modern minimalistic do check the photos as you can clearly see that it’s all done in a period style very downton abbey dont book there just to complain on your return . Thanks Lisa lovely will definitely return xx

I can’t begin to explain how friendly, welcoming clean and relaxed this guest house is. I stayed as a solo traveler in room 11 which looks as though the bathroom has just been installed. Piping hot water, room & towels cleaned/replaced daily. Staff at breakfast extremely attentive, lovely fresh buffet style breakfast, cereals, juices, tea coffee. Not continental but never did enjoy that anyway. Liza the owner is helpful, informative, knowledgeable and has run this guest house for over 20 years and has many regulars and now I understand why!!! She is friendly, kind and made me feel totally at ease being a solo traveller and within a stones throw of the station. If you leave the back of the station and look over the road to your right you will see a steep hill that bares round to the left. As you go to go up the hill you will see a little car park on your left go in and across the car park to a wooden slatted path and that leads you to the front door of the guest house (rather than going to the top of the steep hill and walking round the front). I won’t hesitate on booking again & can understand why this place is usually fully booked. Thank you again Liza xx

Over the course of many years we have been frequent visitors to Torquay and as such have stayed in many very good hotels and guest houses. However, none of them have made quite the impression that we would definitely want to return. That is until we discovered the Elmington.
Liza has owned the Elmington for some 23 years and is a wonderful host. She is friendly and has an infectious laugh and engaging manner which rubs off on everyone.
The Elmington is in a prime location and has good size on site car parking at the front and rear. Its set in wonderful spacious grounds and even has a first class swimming pool. The gardens have been lovingly attended to by Liza.
The double room we had was spacious and the bed was supersize. The ensuite was equipped with a shower but no bath. It more than suited our needs during our 3 night stay.
The hotel is located close to Torquay rail station (not that you would know this) and a short distance to the main bus route into Torquay (or Paignton and Brixham). You can even walk to and from Torquay centre and marina.
Breakfasts were excellent and the décor within the hotel was of a very high taste and standard.
We cannot speak highly enough about the Elmington - its location and excellent surroundings. More importantly we cannot speak highly enough about Liza and her staff.
Will definitely be returning!
Thank you Liza.

The Elmington is a hotel with lots of old world charm. It is spotlessly clean. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful. We booked two rooms - one for us and another for our recently bereaved elderly father. Liz agreed to move him from the 3rd floor to the first floor as the steps were absolutely too much for him. We went out for a walk and returned to find her sitting chatting to our father. She was clearly extremely busy but took the time to listen to him. This was very meaningful to us. The breakfast is basic but filling. The staff very friendly. The rooms are definitely dated but comfortable. We really appreciated the location as we were able to walk down to the front and yet get away from all of the noise and traffic coming back to the hotel. The garden is really attractive and the pool a real delight after being out and about.

What a lovely hotel. Liza the owner cannot do enough to ensure that your stay is perfect. The hotel is quirky, spotlessly clean and like a home from home.
The breakfast is freshly cooked to order with all the normal full English items.
Great location to visit the local area. We will definitely be returning.

The manager/owner Lisa burnes is rude, obnoxious and racist. The room we stayed in was filthy, there were silverfish in the bathroom and we had to sleep on top of the duvets because the sheets were stained and she refused to change them. We asked her about booking on holiday.com and it saying several times that we can pay the full amount on arrival however she called us liars (we had the proof on our phones but she didn’t wish to see this.) i wished I booked at the travelodge

This hotel was a good hotel value for money. Located in a quiet Lane not far from the station and close to the sea. The hotel boasts of a heated swimming pool. With sun loungers on the pool surround, unfortunately there were only 8 of which 2 were you should take towels for the pool as an are provided. The bedrooms very clean and tidy, but lack in in The Small Things you would expect for this type of hotel e.g. refrigerator and a fan. The bathroom consists of a sink a 90 cm shower and a toilet if you're on the large size it will be difficult to get into the shower. The breakfast was very good hot what and fresh with selection of fruit and cereals as well as the traditional English breakfast

Absolute gem of a place . We will definitely be coming here again. It’s tucked away but well within walking distance of the town . And right by the train station. Lovely views from room 16 . Everything is spotless. There’s lots of nicknacks around and not a spec of dust anywhere. The breakfast was very tasty and lots of choices of cereals and fruits before a really nice cooked breakfast. The pool was also fantastic , lovely and clean and surprisingly warm . And the bed was very comfortable. The only downside was the en-suite was a tad small however, there was a bathroom down the hall with a lovely deep bath. The owner is fabulous, very friendly and always smiling ♥️

We have just got back from a stay here , Liza the owner is great and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing ..choice of cereal and grapefruit pieces, toast and full English which was served hot everyday, we had sea view room which was lovely and spacious, en suite bathroom immaculate. The best gardens I have seen and well kept flowers everywhere, lovely pool and sun loungers. 2min walk away is Torquay train station ( which U can’t hear at hotel) we went to Paignton for £3.70 return and takes 4 mins !!!torquay sea front is just a few mins walk and about 15mins to the harbour , a fiver for a taxi if your feeling tired!! Will definitely be returning

My husband and I stayed in the apartment at the end of last summer, lovely. The owner is a charming lady. Nice outdoor pool if the weather is warm enough.
There are more places to choose from in the Torquay area.
