I want to start this review by saying that I know the new owners, Matt & Andy. I met them in Brighton a few times when they ran a B&B there but have never stayed with them until now. Despite the fact I know them, I shall try to remain as unbiased as possible in what follows... ...Matt & Andy are the best hosts ever! They provide such a friendly welcome and nothing is too much trouble. I saw this with the way they treated other guests too, not just the way they welcomed me & my partner. I'm sure everyone would get the same, friendly welcome that we received. Stover Lodge is in a great location. You're right by Torre station (one short stop from Torquay) and only a short distance from Torquay station itself. You can walk into the town in 20mins or catch a bus if you prefer. The seafront is also 20mins walk away, which will take you to the "curly bridge" for all the bars and restaurants there, plus the sweeping promenade and Princess theatre. The route is quite direct, too, so not much chance of getting lost! From Torre station you can catch direct trains to Exeter, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Dawlish. The bus stop is practically outside the B&B with buses to Brixham and Paignton, so it really is a great place to base yourself. We walked into Babbacombe, which took about 40mins but it's a pleasant walk. We didn't have time to go to Cockington unfortunately, but Matt & Andy say it's walkable and well worth a visit. Next time! With regard to Stover Lodge itself, our room was spacious, clean and well appointed (i.e. lovely chocolate bars with the tea making facilities!) The water pressure in the shower was great thankfully, as it's a bugbear of mine when you have to run around to get wet. There was plenty of hanging space and drawers, though we're used to living out of our suitcase. The bed was really comfortable and I slept so well... maybe a little too well, but we had breakfast at 9am and so didn't have to get up too early! Talking of breakfast, it was delicious with lots on offer, although we went straight in for the full English! It was too much food for me on the first day, so I resorted to beans on toast after that! Once again, nothing was too much trouble and it really set us up for the day! For those arriving by car (as we did), there is plenty of parking. We didn't move the car once during our visit, deciding to walk everywhere instead. I am from Torquay originally and have been coming down on and off for the last 40 years. This is the first time I've stayed in Torre, mostly because I know Matt & Andy run a thoroughly clean B&B and I'd also seen the measures they've taken in relation to COVID. This was very important to me and I felt safer staying here that I might have done in one of the bigger hotels or an alternative B&B. I'm so glad I did! Thanks for a wonderful stay guys, I know you're going to make Stover Lodge No 1 in the Bay if not the World! We'll be back!

Spacious room with modern decor. Lovely view onto the garden. Good car parking space and well situated with public transport on the doorstep. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice (well done Andy) everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and in the rooms there is an amazing choice of hot drinks even chocolate bars which were topped up daily. Saying all this the biggest asset to this hotel are Matt and Andy they are fantastic hosts, welcoming, friendly and we were made to feel at home. We are already looking to go back next year all being well. We love you both and thank you for making our stay so good.. (Your adopted granny) Angie and Mike xx

The Stover Lodge was a delight to stay, Matt and Andy were attentive to every detail and everyone. The rooms was fresh and clean, light and airy. The breakfast had so many choices and we were not rushed at all. Parking was available onsite which was convenient and we were on a bus and train station or could walk to the harbour And sea front. Matt and Andy advised us to book in advance for restaurants and also have recommendations. We would definitely stay at the Stover Lodge agaon
