    Ascot House Hotel is an early Victorian villa(built in 1840) enthusiastically run by Bernard and Terri on a B&B basis. Ascot House Hotel is unique in that it offers 5 spacious Suites, each having its own lounge in addition to the bedroom and bathroom.     After a hectic family Christmas we found an oasis of luxury and quiet. Not only are the rooms fantastic ,we had a nosey at them all, but Terri and Bernard were amazing hosts. The breakfasts are great, what ever you want they will oblige We can recommend this Hotel highly.

    Dear Tanya-Glen, Many thanks indeed for your lovely and comprehensive review of Ascot House, including ratings for our Junior Suite, which is called so since it is our least costly suite. All our suites have a lounge which is separate to the bedroom. So what are the differences with other suites and why is the Junior Suite cheaper? - lounge: no difference to the lounges per se: all the suites have similar, spacious lounges with leather sofa beds, fridges and 40 to 43” LED TVs. Some lounges also have armchairs and a day bed (eg the Sea View Suite); - bathroom: that’s where the main differences are. The Junior Suite has a small bathroom with no bath (all the other suites have a bath as well as a shower) and, as is the case in most hotels, it is part of the footprint of the room. Our more expensive suites’ bathrooms are separate (3rd) rooms, some being bigger than the bedrooms! Towels: the Junior Suite gets bath towels as opposed to the (bigger) bath sheets in the other suites bathrooms; - shower: we have an unpressurised water system so it guarantees high pressure hot water everywhere as well as thermostatically-controlled shower units. So we’re surprised at your comments, apologise and will investigate. - views: other suites have balconies or town/sea views. The Junior Suite does have a part-sea view from its lounge and the bedroom overlooks our rockery garden, which is quiet and peaceful. Please do come again with your grand child, the Sea view Suite being an excellent choice. Moreover, you will be entitled to our returners’ discount, which varies from 5 to 25%, depending on the length of your stay. Very best wishes for 2019!

    Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write such a complimentary and comprehensive review. As regards the coaches parked on the other side of the road, it is due to the hotel opposite not having a path or pavement between its car park and the hotel entrance, which means the coaches drop of the hotel guests there before parking. This happens once in the morning and evening, 10 minutes each time, so you were unlucky in a way. As regards our rates, even though people describe us as a 'boutique' hotel and we only offer suites of 2 or 3 rooms, we feel we offer affordable rates for people staying in a work context with, for instance, our Junior Suite, in the winter months (November to February), at £55 per night B&B (single occupancy), £75 in the peak period months (June to September). We often say to enquiring guests that, although we are not the cheapest in Torquay, we feel we consistently offer the best value.

    We're delighted that you liked your stay at Ascot House Hotel in our Sea View Suite, which is our favourite suite. Before we turned the hotel into suites only accommodation, what is now the Sea View Suite used to be 3 bedrooms occupying the whole top floor. We're glad you were able to walk everywhere in Torquay since everything is within easy walking distance, bearing in mind Torquay's hilly.     Hi, can I just check whether children can stay at your hotel, and if you're open off-season? Looking to come with family some time between October & March. Thanks.
    Many thanks for your enquiry. We do take children in nearly all our suites, with our Seaview Suite being the largest since it can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.     Are any of the rooms suitable for someone partially disabled?
    There is a room on the ground floor but the dining area is down a narrow flight of stairs. The entrance is up quite a few steps. Hope this helps.
