Vomero Holiday Apartments in Torquay is a Grade II listed building built in 1838 and has several historic past residents, including Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1848, and Haile Selassie in 1935 whose families all enjoyed Vomero’s historic grandeur with its impressive sweeping mahogany staircase and stunning stained glass windows.
Vomero is set within an acre of beautiful tiered gardens which our guests have full use of, to enjoy with outside seating, dining areas, sun loungers and guest barbecue. Return to the peace and tranquility of Vomero, it's gardens and the sea views after a busy day out.
Five self catering holiday apartments, all of which have a southerly aspect ensuring Vomero is a real sun trap! Upstairs apartments Vomero, Napoli and Genova have private balconies and all enjoy exceptional garden and sea views. Downstairs apartments are Roma and Venezia, our garden apartment Venezia has french doors directly onto a private covered terrace with sunloungers, Roma accesses the grounds via the main front door.
A quiet and secluded base to explore the rest of Torbay, Devon and Cornwall, or just to escape the everyday, relax and unwind.

Located just a short walk away from the town centre, shops, harbour and seafront, Vomero is perfectly located for beach days, meals out, or drinks overlooking the bay. There are many local attractions close by including Kent’s Cavern, Babbacombe Model Village, Bygones and Torquay Museum. Torquay is also lucky to have 3 theatres, including The Princess Theatre often performing shows straight out of the West End and concerts from well known artists.
Great public transport links with buses readily available, local taxis, Torquay and Torre train stations and ferry services across the bay to Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. So you can park up at Vomero and leave the car until it’s time yo go home!
Local activities in Torquay include golf at Torquay Golf Club, bowling at Hollywood Bowl, kayak & paddle boarding hire, full leisure facilities including indoor pool at the Riviera leisure centre, lawn bowling, tennis courts, indoor bouldering and climbing, snooker clubs, fishing trips out in the bay, Splashdown waterpark, Torquay Watersports and so much more…

We've stayed in 3 of the 5 apartments at Vomero Holiday Apartments, my husband and I disagree on a fave, I love the quaintness of Roma, small but perfectly formed with everything you could possibly need for a happy holiday. He prefers the stunning views and outside space of Vomero. This visit was in Vomero and 12 months since our last stay, the view over the bay takes away your breath as you step outside...be warned it's south facing,a true sun trap . Louise and Sean continue to be welcoming and considerate hosts, available if you need them but not intrusive. We asked for eating recommendations this time, previously using the well equipped kitchen (we enjoy cooking ). Suggestions included Steak night at Ollies, which was delicious. Unfortunately Legends was closed for a holiday and No 7 was fully booked for our stay. Next visit we'll be booking well in advance at all their reccomendations. Thanks for another great holiday x …

We stayed for a week in the Vomero apartment. We were kept informed of our booking and greeted by the hosts upon arrival which was a nice touch. The house and apartment were well presented, comfortable and very clean which was important to us. The kitchen was well equipped, we didn’t cook during our stay but if we had chosen to everything was available. The apartment is quiet and has a lovely high view over the bay which can be enjoyed from within the room or balcony which is fitted out with quality furniture and sun beds. Vomero house is central to lots of small towns and attractions, we didn’t have to go too far to enjoy a day out. It is on a rather long hill from town but you can park at the bottom if you can’t or don’t want to walk and there’s always the option of getting a taxi. In the room there is an information folder covering the house etiquette and useful details including local attractions, restaurants, takeaways, taxis and even health services. The owners, Louise & Sean are friendly but not intrusive and have a lovely place for anyone to have a good relaxing holiday. We will recommend it and would stay again.…

This was our second visit to the Napoli apartment at Vomero as we enjoyed our stay so much last year. The 1838 building is a gem - it's been beautifully restored with lots of period features and I loved the information provided on Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who lived here for a while. Most importantly for me however is the fact that everything was SPOTLESS and lots of cleaning materials are provided as standard with good quality bedding, cutlery and furnishings. The owners were brilliant too - lots of personal service and communication throughout the booking process, sending access instructions & follow ups etc. We stayed with our adult sons and appreciated the spacious rooms and the balcony with a stunning view which we made full use of. It was very peaceful as well. Parking can be a little tight if you've got a big car but there is a space provided for each apartment. …

One word - perfect. House, hosts and gardens outstanding. Everything you would need for a holiday is provided in this stunning accommodation. Definitely will be returning. It is a hilly location but a taxi back from marina area if you choose is only £6.

Perfect hosts. Met on arrival. Told what was what. Received a message the following morning hoping we had enjoyed our first night and any problems to get it touch which I thought was a lovely touch. Apartment was spotless. View was stunning. Walk into Torquay took 10 minutes. Walk back nearly killed me. Steep hill so be warned!! Would highly recommend for a couple wanting a quiet holiday with no stress. Will be going again as we enjoyed it so much

My wife and I stayed at the Vomero Holiday Apartments in June. We had a lovely stay. The apartment was clean and very comfortable, and a lovely view. Our hosts Louise and Sean were extremely helpful. The Vomero is in a great location, very quiet and only a short walk to Torquay Harbour. We would definitely recommend the Vomero as a great place to stay.

Another wonderful short break to Vomero Apartments which is rapidly becoming our favourite place to visit in the UK for summer staycations. Sean and Louise as always are the perfect hosts. This time we stayed in Genova which is a two bedroomed apartment so ideal for families of 4 or 5 although on this occasion we left our children at home. The apartment is spotless, very well equipped, and has a nice balcony with superb views of the bay. Torquay and the surrounding area always has so much to offer. During this trip we visited Broadsands beach which is ideal for children, the fishing port of Brixham - having lunch at Shoals which offered great seafood options, found a pop up Gin Bar overlooking Torquay Marina on the Sunday evening watching the sunset, and took a short train ride to Newton Abbot for Ladies Day at the racecourse. Already looking forward to our next visit to Vomero.…
