What a lovely Mother’s Day with family! The view was superb and the service and food excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful especially as we had a a 9 Month old with us. We had a roast dinner which was good value, with a great selection of starters and sweets. Would recommend to anyone who wants a special day experience

Just back from our 5th stay at this hotel and it keeps getting better, the food was amazing both morning and evening and our room had a great view of the bay - and the storm lashing the water . It is the staff who make this place though, we were looked after wonderfully Jason , Matt, Becky and especially Bella who really lit up the place. Already planning our next stay.

We had a lovely time, the staff were very friendly, the room was spotless and well appointed with an excellent sea view. The evening meal was fantastic and quite possibly the best food we have ever eaten. Matt could not have done any more to make it an enjoyable evening for my wife and I and the cocktails he made had his own individual twist. He even offered to make us our favourite if it were not on the cocktail menu. Our waitress, Bella, was really friendly and professional and did an excellent job in looking after us. Credit has to go to the young, but incredibly talented, Josh who made the most amazing Focaccia and starters. He is definitely ‘up and coming’ and we would not be surprised to see him on Master Chef in the future. This was not just a meal out, it was a truly enjoyable dining experience and we cannot recommend highly enough. If you are looking for a special night out then book a table - you won’t be disappointed.

Myself and my parents attended the Osborne for Christmas Dinner. And unfortunately for us. It did not live up to standard in either service or food. It was below par on all areas. For £110 per head it is quite frankly a rip off No welcome drinks which you would expect for a four star Christmas day meal. The starters course brought out before previous entrees were finished. Staff were talking on walkie talkies right next to your tables and appeared to be unsure of what they were doing. Old China and cheap decorations some missing. Food was well below standard. The main was plated and the gravy was by far the worst I have ever tasted. I had the vegetarian the nut roast was awful and I had minimal veg which was awful. We left most of the meal, didnt even touch the dessert. The only edible part was the cheese and crackers at the end. I complained on the day and was told it was a new chef and the hotel was having problems. I also then followed it up in writing. It took 4 weeks to receive a response to my complaint and that was only as I complained to head office. The matter had now been resolved but with minimal compensation for what was a dreadful experience. It has actually put us off going off for Christmas Dinner again I would not recommend this place. They simply charge a fortune for low quality food and maximum profit.

........but we were somewhat let down. On arrival, we stood for several minutes while the receptionist finished one phone call and picked up another. Check in was eventually completed without too much trouble, we paid for the accommodation, breakfast and dinner for two nights. The whole place is a bit of a maze, so pay attention as to which way you are told to turn when exiting the lift, as there are no signs to help you out. The room: Quite a downhill slope on entering the room, and quite an uphill climb to the opposite corner! Shrivelled up spider on one windowsill (there were three). No double glazing, so quite draughty near the windows. Sofa looked a bit tired and grubby. Strangely positioned dressing table at the far end of the L shaped area - no power point near, so no lamp. No use as a dressing table. Maybe the wardrobe would have been better there. Bed fairly comfortable, though doubtful that the bed linen was 100% cotton. Bathroom floor very up and down and creaky. Felt sorry for anyone in the room beneath. Light over bathroom mirror way too high to be of any use; the shaver socket was part of the light so that was also unusable. One of thse spiral holders for a hairdryer fixed to the wall halfway up the side of the mirror. Really don't know what the point of that was. Tacky little soap dish stuck to wall of shower which was totally inadequate. Dinner menu in the room, so had a good look and chose a couple of options, only to find when we went to dinner that the menu was out of date. The whole room requires a bit more attention to detail. Food: Breakfast perfectly fine, but on the first morning all the juice jugs were empty, and we had to use bowls rather than plates for our toast. The barman had trouble charging our drinks to the room - more about that later. Dinner menu very disappointing. Most unimpressed. We were given some 'complimentary' bread, which we didn't really need as our soup starters came with a bread roll, so on the second night we said we didn't want the bread as we'd rather have the roll. We were given the bread instead of the roll! Mains on both nights weren't at all to our taste, vegetables far too al dente, and fish portions rather small. Altogether, a poor experience. There was an inexplicable discount on the bill on the second night. Checkout: Presented with a bill for double what we expected. I questioned this and then the trouble started. To cut a very long story short, our dinner allowance hadn't been deducted on the second night, which I pointed out so was eventually taken off, but there was still a disputed £30 odd. The receptionist had to call a manager, who found, after extensive searching, that the guy on the first night had managed to charge three lots of extra drinks to our room. The whole lot was sorted out satisfactorily in the end, but took about 25 minutes and resulted in some very fed up looking people waiting to check out after us! In spite of the great location, we won't be returning.

This was our third year in a timeshare apartment over Christmas, and because of noisy neighbours in 2021 and 2022, we were offered a top floor exchange overlooking the bay. It was fantastic and so quiet! Ate in the hotel restaurant twice and had good food and wine. Staff in both the hotel and timeshare were super; friendly, welcoming, and efficient. We'd had Xmas Day lunch twice previously but chose to eat in the flat this year, as the menu was disappointing for us. No pre-dinner fizz on offer, as in 2021, and unusual choice of starters of cold squid and mussels in a sauce, or 3 bird terrine, or vegetable soup, usual roast/fish/veggie mains and desserts , but no mention of cream on any puds! Custard, ice cream or sauce. At £110 per head, without drinks, we expressed our disappointment to a manager. Hope next year's menu is more appealing! All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay and are pleased we invested in their timeshare.

A lovely old building but lacking in finesse and a bit rough around the edges! Considering the price I would have expected a bit more if I’m honest. You’re paying for the view and location here. The reception staff and waitresses were friendly and helpful and a credit to the hotel. The entrance hall was very dirty, walls and windowsills throughout were grubby and the hallways had paper, towels and rubbish strewn about. The room was smallish but the bed was comfy and bedding was good. Bathroom was tiny but room staff had done a good job of cleaning. The walls were paper thin and every minute cough and every word of conversation from next door could be clearly heard, it was like there were in the room! Everything worked as it should and there was a good selection of toiletries and tea/coffee/ biscuits and even bottles of water! Breakfast was good, not brilliant but fine for what we wanted. Lovely bacon! The reception area was very loud, two lots of music coming from two directions. The bar area is very tired looking, a broken lantern and paint on chairs. Personally I wouldn’t stay again as it just felt lacking in care, and a bit dirty in the public areas. Definitely needs soundproofing in the rooms. The pool area was busy and felt dirty, more like a leisure centre than a spa! The staff are the best thing about this hotel!

we spent a 3 day xmas break at the Osborne hotel and i have to say it was outstanding. All the staff made us extremely welcome from Jade and Annette on reception to Callum the waiter but the whole holiday was made outstanding by Becky who made us feel special and so welcome and matt who was so helpful and uplifting, they are a credit to the hotel and i would give them 6 stars if i could. The whole break was incredible and we are so glad we decided to spend our xmas at this hotel. we will definitely return in the summer for another break. To all the staff thank you for making it a magical xmas!!

I booked Christmas Day Lunch months ago and due to unforeseen circumstances could not make the booking as my mum had to be rushed to hospital Christmas Day. The hotel kept ringing when we were in hospital and I couldn’t ring them. I then emailed them to tell them my mum had a fall & had to go to hospital. There was no offer from the hotel to make other arrangements, offer help or any compensation etc. Was incredibly upset with the poor service received which is disappointing having had used them previously for a stay 4 years ago. Won’t be using again!

Response from Harry shobrook, Marketing at The Osborne Hotel
Responded 28 Dec 2023
Hello Susan, We sincerely apologise for what happened on Christmas Day and hope your mother is doing ok. As stated in our policy, Christmas bookings are non-refundable regardless of the situation. We understand that this was not ideal, however, due to the high demand and limited availability of this date, we cannot offer a refund. We attempted to contact you multiple times out of concern from our F&B manager Becky (which is not common procedure), Who noticed that your table had not been filled. The bad weather on Christmas Day added to our concern about you possibly running late in traffic. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Had we been able to get in touch with you or vice versa, we would have been able to accommodate your unforeseen circumstances. We could have moved your booking, allowed you to collect your Christmas menu dinner to eat at a later time, or even saved a table for you and your family the next day. Unfortunately, due to not being able to get in contact, we had to follow our normal procedure and treat your booking as a no-show as per our policy. We understand that this was not an ideal situation, and we assure you that we did everything in our power to accommodate your booking. We apologise again for any inconvenience caused and hope that this clarifies the situation. Best regards, Harry Shobrook

Comfortable Stylish hotel with a beautifully decorated bedroom overlooking the bay.. Excellent breakfasts. The indoor leisure pool was the perfect temperature to swim in although changing rooms needed some TLC. The evening menu was disappointing and so we had to eat elsewhere.
