My husband and myself recently returned from a two night stay at this lovely hotel. Lisa and Anais were very welcoming and friendly. Our home had a lovely sea view and was very comfortable. The bed and pillows were comfortable, lovely white fluffy towels and nice toiletries, the tea tray was well stocked with good quality tea, biscuits etc, I especially liked having fresh milk in the fridge . This was also great for wine and beer😀. The breakfast was really nice with a good selection of choices and great quality produce. I especially liked the yogurts and homemade jams . The area has many lovely places nearby to explore. We particularly like Babbacombe, Dartmouth and Salcombe. If you want a lovely cream tea visit Angels on Babbacombe downs you won’t be disappointed. There are many places to eat in Torquay this visit we found a quirky little pub called The hole in the wall , there was a winter deal on two meals and a bottle of wine for 39.95 . It was very tasty . I would definitely recommend the Charterhouse and hopefully will return soon.

Freshly cooked breakfast of your choice clean rooms tea coffee hot chocolate and milk in a little fridge in the room . Comfy bed nice shower tv and clean towels in the room . We stay in a dog friendly room which leads straight out to the garden . Location is great too there is Torquay Paignton and Cockington house all close by and the Harvester in Torquay is dog friendly. Absolutely loved our stay here!!
The hosts were so accommodating- anything asked, was dealt with straight away.
Breakfast- a really efficient ordering system which enabled prompt breaks fast and the tastiest food. Lovely options in addition to the range of cereals and yoghurts and fresh juices- quality was very high standard.
The room- we stayed on the ground floor with a patio and access to the swimming pool plus garden and car park. The room was spotless and had everything that’s e needed included fresh milk daily in the fridge. Lots of storage. Decent bathroom with a powerful shower which is a rarity. Absolutely perfect location for heading to Torquay etc.
The pool- my son and I loved swimming here each day after a day out. 1.1m in depth meant my son could jump in and swim easily whilst I enjoyed a relaxing swim. The hosts cleaned and monitored the pool throughout the day.

I stayed at The Charterhouse for 4 nights with my son. We had a wonderful holiday here and the hosts Lisa & Christophe were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Great location close to the seafront. There was lots of parking, lovely gardens and my son loved the pool. Our room was spotless and the extra touches made all the difference such as a fridge in the room and fresh milk/water daily. The breakfasts here are fantastic, plenty of choice including homemade jams and really good quality ingredients perfectly cooked. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend. Thank you for a fab stay!

A long weekend visit on probably the worst weekend with Storm Darragh hitting…we had the dog with us who usually sleeps in the vehicle which is specially adapted for her…but Lisa said would we like to swap rooms so the dog could stay with us with the storm hitting…she very quickly put us fresh milk, teas & coffee in the other room which was spacious clean and comfortable…
We had a wonderful stay with a great breakfast every morning!
Would highly recommend a stay here in in a great location and you’ll be very well looked after!!

This the 2nd time we have stayed here and we will definitely be returning. The hospitality provided by Lisa and Chistophe is second to none. They are warm and welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. The b&b is very clean with a homely feel. The decor is lovely and suits the rooms. I'd definitely recommend. The breakfast provided is outstanding with a good selection as well as being wonderful quality. The prices are very reasonable especially for what you get and there is free parking on the property. The b&b is in a great location, its far back enough to not get noise from the centre however its very easy to walk to. We will be returning soon!

We came to the area from Scotland to buy a new Motorhome from Newton Abbot. We stayed at a Premier for the night but decided to stay a couple more nights to check out Torquay and Paignton.
The wife spotted the Chartehouse and compared with the Premier we had stayed at.
It actually came in a fair bit cheaperthan the Premier but that's not all.
Breakfast included in the price. £10 each at the Premier for 2nd rate crap. Chrisophe's breakfast you could be forgiven for thinking he was the winner of Masterchef. Fantastic top local ingredients. Black pudding seared to perfection and not stodgey like so many other places.
The place is spotless, I have stayed at countless places both on business and pleasure and can honestly say, I have never seen a cleaner hotel. The Premier is a dump in comparison.
The parking is free unlike the other so called big hitters on the front. The room is well equipped with fresh milk to accompany the tea, coffee and posh biscuits.
The hotel is warm unlike the Premier where they turned the heating down to save money.

Lisa is a fantasic host and nothing too much trouble.
This place is a hidden gem and if I were to return to Torquay it would be a no brainer.

A Ford Fiesta that smells of cigarettes for a premier price, Or a Flashy Bently that you could eat your dinner off for less money. No brainer !
We leave in the morning and I am soo looking forward to my Brekkie,

We had a two night stay at the Charterhouse. We were warmly welcomed by the joint owner Lisa who made us feel at home right away. We had a small suite on the top floor comprising bedroom, lounge and large bathroom. It was warm, comfortable and spotless, fitted out in a modern style with everything you'd need.
The dining room was bright and spacious. There was a wide choice of breakfasts beautifully prepared and cooked by the chef Christophe.
Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Lisa who looked after us so well.
We couldn't fault the Charterhouse for comfort, food and value.
It is located in a secluded road just away from the main seafront. There was ample space in their own car park.
We would certainly recommend the Charterhouse!

What a fabulous guest house/B&B. Private parking and the perfect location for a stroll along the beachfront to get to the edge of Torquay town where there are a few bars and restaurants, we tried them all and they were all great! This time we didn’t have a sea view, but we did have a family room which enabled us to use that as a dressing room, but next time we would go for a room with a sea view as they looked amazing! Breakfast was the best we have had in a very long time and was the perfect selection of food offerings and we had the choice of pastries and toast too which was great! Lisa was super friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, no wonder this place has 5 star reviews, being looked after well is what makes a trip special, so thank you. We will be back!

Answer from lisa g

There is a very good selection of restaurants about 15 minutes walk from The Charterhouse. Another 15 minutes gets you right into the town centre for further choice. As the walk is along the sea front it is a lovely way to get around. However, in bad weather the bus and taxi service are reliable and reasonably priced.

We don't have a bar but you are welcome to bring your own drinks, all of our rooms except the compact room have a mini fridge. We will be delighted to provide glasses. We also have loads of outside seating in our beautiful gardens for pre dinner drinks.
