Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me and my wife spent five nights at the Baytree Hotel for our anniversary and could not have chosen a more perfect stay. Chris and Karen were very welcoming and friendly without being too overpowering. The room was clean and had everything you could need. The breakfast was excellent and choice was broad. Chris was very attentive and efficient in his service also. The location is great - being just a 15 minute walk to the harbour. Overall, a very restful stay, thank you.

A superb Hotel in a quiet road within walking distance of the seafront, harbour and town. Comfy beds, great shower, lovely hosts and exceptional breakfasts. Would highly reccomend the boat trip from Torquay to Brixham and then Dartmouth.

We stayed for 1 week at The Baytree. Parking was easy with an onsite car park and plenty of unrestricted street parking. Chris welcomed us showed us to our room, (No.2). It was light and spacious, with all that we needed including a fridge and safe. We slept well in the comfortable kingsize bed and the shower was very efficient. Our room was serviced daily and throughout the guest house was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Chris and Karen have owned it for many years and have achieved and uphold a very high standard. Breakfasts, cooked by Karen and served by Chris, are amazing and certainly kept us going through the day. We can heartily recommend the Egg Benedict and Full English, though the Smoked Haddock with Poached Egg is very tasty too. The menu is varied, make/leave your choice the evening before. Chris and Karen know Torquay very well so definately ask them for advice on restaurants and places to go. We researched before choosing and booking The Baytree and it fulfilled and exceeded our expectations. We fully recommend it and hope to return.

A hidden gem. This small hotel offered it all and was an extremely pleasant place to stay during out Torquay visit. We were warmly welcomed by the owners of some 20 years and found them to be absolutely lovely. This hotel is an absolute credit to them and all their hard work. Room was delightful. Small but clean and well appointed. Tea/Coffee making facilities were offered. Ensuite was absolutely spotless and well maintained. Breakfast was included and offered all that one could ask for. Location was excellent and we were able to easily walk to town centre and beachside areas. Street parking was easily accessible. A thorougfhly enjoyable stay.

We stayed for a couple of nights early in June. Karen and Chris made us feel at home and welcome. The attention to detail, from delicious choice of breakfast to green matcha tea bags was perfect. Friendly advice and tips on where to go locally added to the experience.

My wife and myself stayed for three nights at the Baytree when being in Devon. The room was nice and we were happy with it (even if the bathroom was rather small but we could manage without any problems). Chris and Karen were friendly and they advised us to prebook the car park at the Agatha Christie house in Greenway. The breakfast was not in a buffet style but you could choose between different types of hot breakfast. I chose three different ones and all of them were brilliant. The only disadvantage about breakfast was that breakfast is only being served from 9 to 9.30 am. Both of us are early risers and so, we would have preferred an earlier start into the day. The car park is rather steep and - if you only have the address - not easy to find (as it's in a different street).

Very friendly run guest house, spotlessly clean and Karen and Chris make a very good team. Karen also is an excellent cook and makes a lovely homemade breakfast served by Chris. Anything you want to know or were to go just ask, there is parking with accommodation or bus service nearby. The room we chose was a superior double on the ground floor and it was very comfortable light and airy with a comfortable bed.

Excellent stay, yet again. Thankyou Chris and Karen for another lovely holiday. The diet starts now, after those lovely breakfasts. Good company and it was like meeting family again. Really missed not visiting during the pandemic. Thankyou again Jan & Ron xx
