We had a wonderful stay at Bentley Lodge. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
The hosts gave great recommendations for activities and restaurants.
They also left ice packs on our bedroom door (because the weather was so hot) and complimentary bottled water in the room’s fridge.
But it’s the little touches that are particularly nice. They must have noticed a bottle of wine in our room when they were cleaning because we came back from our day out to find wine glasses supplied for us.
Great service. Would highly recommend.

Stayed in this beautiful guest house as part of my daughters 30th birthday celebrations

Prior to arrival, I received a text from Debbie the owner wishing us a safe journey to the guest house and how she was looking forward to our arrival (nice touch). There is free car parking available

On arrival at the property which was located just off the main road Debbie was waiting to show us to our rooms but before she did she took us into the dining room and showed us our allocated table for our stay and explained the procedure for breakfast, which due to a covid was a pre order menu which we had to complete and leave on the table ready for the next morning as she explained everything is cooked fresh to order. The menu had everything that you could ask for.

Debbie took us up to our room (No 4) which was a triple room consisting of a king sized bed and single, and also informed us that there was a gift of her and her husband Richard for my daughters birthday which was 3 small bottles of wine, enough for one glass and a box of celebrations (another nice touch). There was also a sample of fudge and bowls of different flavoured toffees.

Debbie explained there would be no housekeeping due to covid but our room was so clean that it was not needed,

The room itself was stunning and immaculate. The bedding was pristine white and the beds looked brand new and very comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom was spotless and one of the best shower I have used in a guest house

Breakfast the next day was plentiful and even thugh we had pre-ordered Debbie asked if we wanted to add to our order or make any changes, This was when we met Debbies husband Richard who was just as welcoming as his wife.

I mentioned to Debbie about visiting Babbacombe and she said Richard was more than happy to drive us there but we would need to make our own way back. How many guesthouses offer this service.

The guesthouse is about a 10 minute stroll to Tore Abbey (all flat road) and 20/25 minutes to harbour and town centre. (again all flat road) and a nice stroll. The town was very busy on the weekend due to the football so we were glad to be staying away from all the noise

We visited Red House Mysteries to do an escape room and the next morning at breakfast Debbie asked how it was and would we recomment it (which we would) so she could inform future guests of this activity, so keen she is to present ideas to her guests to ensure they have an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful guest house with amazing hosts who went out of their way to make sure you had the best stay and cannot wait to stay here again.

Final touch was when Debbie and Richard both came to say goodbye and wave us off and also gave us a piece of Debbies homemade fruit cake which was delicious

Thank you both for your wonderful hospitality. The welsh girls x

Written on behalf of Mark and Katrina Evans: A warm welcome awaits you from Debbie and Richard when you stay at the Bentley Lodge. This is our first time staying at the lodge and we were thoroughly impressed with the style and cleanliness of the room and dining area.

The little touches in the bedroom made a big difference and more than we have ever experienced from a 5 star hotel, including a jar of homemade sweet treats, a well stocked fridge and tea making facilities.

Breakfast was first class, using premium local produce and the bacon was some of the best I’ve had in recent years. Richard’s home made jam was a treat as well and finished the breakfast perfectly.

The location was great for exploring Torquay and the surrounding area, and parking at the hotel was a bonus.

I highly recommend the fish and chip shop near the harbour, a day out to the model village and Dartmoor prison museum.

We plan on returning soon and hope to bring the children and partners along to experience a wonderful stay.

From the White 400 count bedding, Spotlessly clean accommodation to the hot cooked delicious breakfast Bentley Lodge is first class in every respect. Debbie & Rich couldn’t have been more hospitable, booking taxis, making meal reservations, advice on where to visit, even making sandwiches for our journey home not forgetting a piece of Debbie’s home made fruit cake. The beautiful bright dining room overlooks the well maintained garden which we loved to sit in, afeaturing a decked little bridge with a pond and water feature. The rooms are very well equipped with a Tv, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities well stocked , iron ironing board hairdryer even an Alexa which we used every day a seating area lovely big king size bed and a wonderful walk in shower room. This place is truly a little Gem, a real Devon delight!

We spent 3 nights at Bentley Lodge recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Debbie and Richard were great hosts - welcoming, pleasant, friendly, easy to get on with, and knowledgeable. The guest house has been perfectly renovated recently and is light, bright and airy. The breakfast was very very good and Debbie catered perfectly to our dietary requirements. Our 2nd stay at Bentley Lodge and we will definitely be back, and would recommend it to others.

This was our first visit to the Bentley since it has been taken over by it’s current owners. What a difference! It was clear right from the start the a huge amount of money has been spent bringing the rooms and breakfast room up to an exceptional standard. It really is hard to find fault with the rooms and the service provided. A huge amount of work has been done in the garden too and we spent several hours after breakfast just enjoying coffee and a read in the secluded surroundings. We really can’t recommend this gem of a guest house highly enough.
