I took my two boys to Torquay for the first time at the end of August/early September and stayed at Somerville. We were lucky to get the booking at Sommervill as someone cancelled last minute. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Peter and Helen were very warm hosts, especially Peter, who went out his way to help us charing our electric car and providing lots of local info and restaurant recommendations. Helen cooked the most amazing breakfast every morning, which she used very fresh and all local produce. The breakfast were very nutritious and truly mouth-watering. The Torque Suite we stayed in was gorgeous, beautifully decorated and cleaned to a very high standard. The location of the hotel is nice and quiet but very convenient. It took us only 5-10 min to walk to all the shops and restaurants. Also it is a good points to explore the surrounding areas. We did caastering, sea fishing and kayaking. We had such a wonderful time that my boys really want to return at next break (finger crossed the second lockdown will end soon).…
Lovely Bijou guest house with charming hosts, particularly Peter, who went to the nth degree to make sure his guests were comfortable and happy Room was delightful fashioned in an Art Nouveau style with a lovely bed and bathroom, all cleaned to a high standard Lovely breakfast menu, was extensive, making it difficult to make a decision The walk down the hill to the Marina took us ten minutes, walking quite slowly, where numerous restaurants and cafes were found for our evening meal. Peter recommended No.7 fish bistro, which proved to be fantastic serving locally caught fish...amazing food and service If there was a negative I'd have to say the televisions need updating, perhaps an Amazon Fire Stick would give more selection of programs, especially in the winter months when you return to your room earlier.…
We recently spent two nights at The Somerville, and we can only echo what others have written. Our room was first class, with a very comfortable bed and tasteful decoration. The breakfast on both mornings was superb, it's very evident that Helen only uses the very best produce in her cooking. Peter is a superb host, when we arrived he immediately made us feel very welcome, and when we returned from dinner at a local restaurant, spent a lot of time with us in the lounge. All in all, we cannot recommend The Somerville highly enough.
This was the first time for 25 years having our main holiday in the uk . The Somerville in Torquay was an excellent place to stay. Beautiful rooms with all the facilities you need. Peter and Helen the owners were fantastic, most welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Gave lots of advice on where to go and what to do. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, all fresh cooked to order and local produce. Will be definitely staying here again, a wonderful experience. As expected all the Covid procedures were in place to make you feel safe. Thank you Peter and Helen for making our holiday so enjoyable. Neil & Hayley Leeds United 😉
Amazing find in Torquay. This 5 * Boutique B&B is a beauty. We had a suite which was lovely. Bed was very comfy and the room was luxuriously decorated. Peter and Helen are very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Food was superb! Best EggsBenedict I’ve ever had. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place.
