The Hotel Balmoral - set in a the most exclusive and picturesque location of Meadfoot in Torquay, only two minutes walk (100 meters) takes you to the blue flag awarded meadfoot beach overlooking the best coastal scenery on the English Riviera. Return back to elegantly furnished and decorated public rooms giving the hotel a restful, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere with a touch of class, which is matched by the unpretentious warm hospitality provided. Dining in the restaurant really is an occasion not to be missed! superb fine dining in the evening with Italian, French and English inspired dishes, the menu changes daily using only the freshest produce while being reasonably priced. Book to include dinner each night in advance to get the best rate. Menu is individually priced or Sunday lunch off peak from £22.95 per person for a three course lunch. Weather dependent our terrace is also open for breakfast and dining with sea views. Enjoy an aperitif from our classically styled licensed bar, or Devon cream tea with freshly baked warm scones and dollops of real devon clotted cream in the secluded landscaped garden. Take in the superb view out to sea with thatcher rock in the distance. Each room is varied in style, location & facilities some large with super-king beds & part sea views, some compact doubles over the side and back. Live music is provided out of season at the weekends, as well as free parking, space is limited but there is parking right outside with no permit restrictions. A quiet and peaceful location does not mean remote, walk from our door to Torquay town harbour in less than 20 minutes, or leave the car and take the bus which has a stop right outside the building. Or for the scenic route, the hotel sits right on the coastal walking path to take in the stunning views while you make your way across the cliffs to the town harbour.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed 3 nights from 30 Dec - 2 Jan 2024. This is our third visit over New Year and our fifth visit in total. We keep going back because the family, staff, food, entertainment and location are superb. The attention to detail is outstanding and the food has always been excellent from a cream tea on arrival to the 5 and 7 course dinners throughout our New Year stay. Friends took us for our first visit and we have also taken friends and family to stay as we know it will surpass their expectations. There is a bus stop outside the hotel so our car never leaves the car park over New Year and we can walk down the hill to Meadfoot Beach where there is a café open all year round. It is family run and has approximately 25 rooms so a really nice size. Cosy rooms are quite small but easily manageable but this time we opted for a larger sea view room which was also lovely. We recommend giving this hotel a try.

A lovely place to stay with some of the best food that we’ve ever tasted during a UK hotel break. We would happily visit again. We had a cosy sea view room which was cosy but perfectly adequate for a two night stay, but our friends had a much larger premiere room which was much more spacious and had a much larger bathroom and appeared to have been newly refurbished. Our deal included a cream tea on arrival, two five course dinners, two breakfasts and a 3 course Sunday lunch before we left and the food and table service couldn’t be faulted. There was also singers on both nights who both had good voices and were an added bonus. The hotel was a little way from the harbour but a nice but hilly walk, if you enjoy walking, and there was ample parking very close if the hotel car park is full. All in all a nice break in a lovely part of the UK.

This was our second stay at The Balmoral and it was a lovely experience. It is amazing value for money. The food is all home made and a high quality and so much of it! We are vegetarian but the choice was varied and so tasty. We had a cost double and it was just what we needed. The hotels ambience is stylish and the grounds are beautiful. Lots of lovely walks around the area also. There was nothing to complain about other than there being too much food! Well done and we would definitely recommend.

Very comfortable, entirely satisfactory, friendly helpful staff. Our room had a good sized en-suite bathroom, there was a large, cosy lounge, and the garden was spectacular (it will be a boon in summer). The location is ideal: close to the shore but around the headland from the main beach. Talking to staff, we learned that many customers return multiple times, and people often meet up with each other on return visits. That says a lot for this hotel.

We were a party of 19. Great food and very friendly and efficient staff. A couple of showers didn't work very well and some of the rooms were a little cold. Overall though a very enjoyable weekend. Good entertainment and the hotel had a lovely atmosphere. We will certainly go back.

My 4th visit to The Balmoral and it never disappoints. The service and food are excellent and the hotel is extremely comfortable and the entertainment provided at weekends is also very good. Convenient bus stop to town just outside. The 2 and 3 night special offers are extremely good value.
