Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A last minute booking and a great choice. Our room was spotless, comfortable and roomy with the inclusion of an iron and ironing board along with a handy hair dryer, kettle with tea coffee and biscuits was a welcoming touch and replenished daily. Breakfast was tasty plentiful and a varied choice too. Mei & Oliver are great hosts and knowledgeable too. We'll definitely return.

Oliver and Mei were fabulous hosts, making us feel most welcome in their gorgeous home. The guest house is beautifully decorated with features of Art Deco and spotlessly clean and tidy. A great selection of deliciously cooked food was available for breakfast, along with fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt. The bed was extremely comfortable, our room quiet, relaxing, tranquil, as was the rest of the accommodation. It is the perfect base for exploring Torbay and beyond.

I wouldnt call The Iona a hotel, i would say its more of a Guest House. For a 4* it was ok, if the room we choose did not have the balcony, we would not of booked. The balcony for us was a bonus, even though the weather wasn't very good. Breakfast was just ok. The owners were friendly.

We had a very nice time at the Iona Hotel. It was very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast had a great variety to choose from. The proprietors were extremely accommodating. Just a little mention that there is a sharp but short incline to the hotel to be aware of. We will be back !!!

Nice place and great location only 10 minutes walk to harbour. Friendly staff from Mei and Olivier. On arrival we were given a map, and she even remembered our names throughout our 5 day break. Lovely clean and quiet location with ample parking on the premises. Great hostesses and I would recommend to anyone.

Enjoyed a long weekend in Torquay staying at the Iona that is a 10 min walk to the harbour. Roy was a excellent host who provided everything needed for a comfortable relaxing stay, great choice for breakfast and the fresh fried english was spot on. This is a very clean establishment with a friendly breakfast waiter who provides great local knowledge and tips. Thanks again Roy and the team.
