It was the worst place we have ever stayed in, it simply ruined 3 days of our holidays. Absolutely no wifi or reception, we were completely disconnected from the world in our room; no measures for COVID: people were seated next to the other super crowded during breakfast. We were confirmed ahead of time that the extra bed was a good real bed, which wasn't true (tiny foldable uncomfortable bed). The house is located on the road and we couldn't sleep because of the noise. All these could be tolerated, but the worst part was how the stuff treated us. We never experienced such a rudeness and greediness. Due to sleepless night, I asked for a large coffee and was given "a lecture" how I should have my coffee, e.g., I should be happy with the tiny espresso I got. She said that if I…

Response from Paul Wheeler, Owner at Crown Lodge Bed and Breakfast
Responded 25 Aug 2020
Myself and my staff are completely dumbfounded by your review. We do understand how embarrassing and difficult it is when your credit card is declined and we both know that , despite you swearing to the opposite, we will never see the payment for the three nights that you spent with us . We did not, purposefully, make your lack of funds any more difficult than it was and to get this kind of nasty reaction, to an act of kindness, is beyond our comprehension. We can only surmise that because you are obviously from an under-privileged background you are not used to these kind of sentiments. We kindly suggest that, should you be allowed to remain in the UK, you learn from the people around you that acts of kindness, like this, are not uncommon here.

Stayed for 3 nights. Room very cramped as we had 2 kids and could not move around. Bed was definitely smaller than a standard double (which we have at home). Checked in were asked how many sausages we will need next day as need to be defrosted. Bizarre as how would you know how hungry you were the following morning. The spare bed duvet cover had blood stains on it and had to request for it to be changed. Had the downstairs room, with all windows open, still a bit hot. Bathroom was for fine. teacup was used but never got changed throughout our stay. 2nd last day our beds were not made as I had roughly made them and they were exactly the way I had left them. I know as I had left some signs to see (yes cheeky of me but why not). Fruit at breakfast was left outside and probably…

Highly recommend this lovely guest house. The location is very good with amenities and the seafront within easy walking distance. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, clean, light with its’ thoughtful decor with a small fridge, hot drinks facilities, bottles water and toiletries provided. We stayed at the Crown Lodge guesthouse with our 2 girls aged 7 and 9. We stayed for 4 nights. Although we booked this at the last minute, the owners, Paul and Ana made every effort to accommodate us and to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, the room was clean and comfortable and the location was ideal. Walking distance to the beach and the restaurants on the seafront and only a short drive to places like Brixham, Preston Sands and other places worth visiting. The lovely lady in the kitchen and Ana gave us lots of tips about the area. We would highly recommend, we had a lovely holiday!

Would love to leave a full review but couldn't even get through the door! We booked for my wife and 2 children two weeks in advance directly through their website, received confirmation travelled from Bristol to be told they never had our reservation and that they were fully booked! The woman was rude and offered no apology just said it was nobody's fault, sent her husband out who was alot more polite. We were surprised because of the excellent reviews. Hope they learn from this and sort out their booking system

Anna and Paul (the proprietors) are a lovely couple that made us feel welcome straight away. They were hospitable throughout and great to have a chat with. The room had everything you needed: A great comfy bed, a very clean bathroom and lovely cuppa with a biscuit while watching the tv after a long drive, we even had a mini fridge to put our beers in. Anna made us an amazing cooked English breakfast and a fabulous cup of proper coffee. I would stay there again and 100% recommend the Crown Lodge Hotel

I have stayed in so many hotels and B&Bs in the past few months since my business burnt down. The room is beautiful and absolutely Spotless. The owner couldn’t have done enough making us feel so welcome and making sure we have everything we need. This is the last hotel we will be needing now as move into our new home today and it’s amazing to leave such a depressing time with the best place out of them all. I highly recommend crown Lodge and wish them all the best for the future Thanks again Hayley and Ben.
