We loved it, left alone, peaceful, veiws, pools and lovely hosts. It does depend on what you are looking for, but for us it was brilliant. We had their superior suite which was lovely. Not far from the beach or town so its a great location. We recommend this place.

Concerned about going away in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic but working in the NHS I was very much in need of a holiday.
On arrival we were met and had our temperatures taken and we used the hand gel. We were shown around the hotel and due to restrictions in the number of guests in the dinning room we booked a time slot for our evening meal and breakfast. We were shown to our room, the Coombe suite.
The hotel was spotlessly clean.
The bed was very comfortable with good quality cotton bedding. The towels in the ensuite shower room were also of a very good quality and there was a heated towel rail in the ensuite meaning our towels were always dry.
We had two tub chairs and a large tv.
We had a sea view from our window and the room was very quite.
Two bathrobes were provided and a hairdryer.
Due to the age and shape of the hotel there is no lift and there were steps to go up and down to our room. Other guests could also see into our room though the big bay window in our room.
There was a kettle mugs and glasses with tea, coffee and milk in plentiful supply. Just ask at reception if you needed more. A bottle of cold water was left in the room and was filled up on request.
We were able to sit out for breakfast and dinner most days.
The food was beautifully cooked to order and well presented.I especially enjoyed the Crofton continental breakfast. My husband found the portions on the small side but I found it ample just eating breakfast and dinner during my stay even though we were walking between 5 and 8 miles every day.
We were given information to help make the most of our visit to Torquay.
We had complimentary tea and coffee during our stay along with a complimentary drink on arrival. The hotel won an award during our stay when we received another complimentary drink.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Catriona Many thanks for such a detailed review of your stay with us at Crofton House Hotel. We are pleased you found our 'COVID-19 SECURE' restrictions and requirements reassuring, without being restricting in your enjoyment and relaxation in and around Crofton House. It is good to read how attentive you found the staff team. Our 'cooked to order' meals are very popular with our guests and we are glad you enjoyed our meal services so much. We pride ourselves on the quality of our bed, bed linen and other hotel comforts and are glad they met with your approval. Thanks too for your good wishes about us achieving the tripadvisor award for being in the top 10% of hotels rated on their website. Had a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel despite the Covid restrictions, hotel managers owners Stuart and Furdoon were very pleasant and accommodating, they both have a sense of humour and very hot on sanitisation lol 😂, hotel room very clean and comfortable beds, loved the water bottles in the room and can ask for cold water whenever you wanted a refil. Breakfast is excellent exactly what you want to start the day, fantastic waiter and always asked if everything was ok.
Nice to have had a swim in the indoor pool which we booked in advance.
Car parking at the hotel is a bonus as street parking very busy, near to the beach and centre.
Was recommended to have fish and chips at the Saltwater by Furdoon and Stuart, managed to book a table and it was the best fish n chips you could ask for.
Thank you for a lovely stay and hopefully will come back.

Hubby and I was celebrating our wedding anniversary so booked a last minute trip to Torquay. We were lucky to find such a warm and welcoming hotel and hosts. The rooms were spotless, breakfast - plenty of choice and very tasty The hosts are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Despite the current COVID situation we felt safe and comfortable and had a fun and relaxing week

We arrived here on what was meant to be 'freedom day' (21st June) but as we all know that didn't happen so the hotel still operated a strict Covid policy which at the end of the day is for our own benefit despite previous comments. However on the flip side we were upgraded to the Riviera Suite as the management are running the hotel at under capacity because of the restrictions. As with the rest of the hotel it was immaculate.
This hotel is spotlessly clean, you could eat off of the floor but we decided to opt for plates at no extra charge. The breakfasts, as previous comments will confirm, are fabulous with a choice of going alfresco which we managed on one occasion.
Tip:- Most restaurants are booking only so we booked in advance and dined at the hotel on our date of arrival which gave us time to look around at other options for the rest of our stay. Our meal was excellent and we had 3 courses each from £23 which was great value.

Clean,
Comfy,
And Covid secure

Well what can I say, this is without doubt a high quality hotel with high standards.

Covid restrictions are strict and take some getting used to but not a problem really.

We took advantage of the “Secret Room Special” and we were lucky enough to be upgraded on arrival to the Belgrave Suite, a lovely large two roomed suite with a large walk in shower and partial views over the garden.

The room as the rest of the hotel is scrupulously clean but due to the Covid restrictions there is no servicing of the room however anything you need will be quickly provided by asking at the reception.

We were also able to book for private use the indoor pool and the jacuzzi.

Breakfast was included and it was wonderful everyday. A great deal of choice and everything cooked to perfection.

Location wise the hotel is well situated for Torquay in a quiet setting away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront.

The seafront can be accessed within a 5-10 min walk along the reasonably flat meadow walk path at the rear of the hotel or you can exit at the front of the hotel and reach the shopping centre and harbour after a 10-15 min walk although this will include some hill walking if returning to the hotel this way.

A very enjoyable stay

Dear Guests. Many thank for providing a review of your stay with us at Crofton House Hotel. We are reassured you found Crofton House to be Clean, Comfy, Covid Secure. Glad you liked the 'SECRET ROOM DEAL' with the upgrade from a king bedded room to a full suite. As you say, Covid has created many restrictions and we are pleased to read how you felt we responded well to the challenge while still providing you and other guests with everything needed. Breakfast is often well received by guest, with a wide range on the 'cooked to order' menu. It's good to read how you found Crofton House so centrally located while being away from the hussel and bussel of the town centre. We are glad all this combinated in you having such an enjoyable stay. We look forward to welcoming you back at Crofton House in the future. Kind regards. Furdoon and Stuart.

We have just returned from a fab weeks stay at the Crofton and We could not have chosen a nicer hotel
From check in to check out Furdoon and Stewart could not do enough for us . Local knowledge of places to visit and restaurant recommendations were all excellent.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and covid regulations are adhered to everywhere.
Our room was a good sized double with a very comfy bed and plenty of wardrobe space and drawers
Good sized en suite with large shower again spotless.
Breakfast was amazing every day the service was excellent he choice of cold and hot food was very good
Always fresh and hot and cooked to order.

During the day we spent a couple of lovely afternoons sat on the sunloungers in the well maintained gardens again the service with afternoon snacks and drinks selection was excellent. We did not eat during the evenings but the menu has a good selection of food for all tastes.

An excellent facility this hotel also offers is the Indoor pool , sauna, jacuzzi and outdoor hot tub which we used twice and again these were all spotlessly clean and maintained to a very high standard .

Location was great 10 minute walk to the promenade and beach and plenty of restaurants within that distance and plenty more to choose from in the town centre probably 20 min walk.

Lots of places to visit within half hour drive or even a nice boat trip to Brixham or Paignton

Overall I couldn't recommend the Crofton enough we had an amazing memorable stay and would return in a heartbeat

Firstly I would like to congratulate Furdoon Stewart and all the team for being awarded tripadvisor’s traveller choice 2020 putting them in the top 10% hotels worldwide a fantastic achievement. We arrived as a group of four all in our own bubble so were able to sit and eat together, we were temperature checked on arrival and hand sanitiser was dotted all around the hotel, they are doing everything they can to comply with the ever changing covid situation. Furdoon and Stewart were brilliant hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were spacious well equipped and spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. The full Crofton was a firm favourite at breakfast and there is a decent choice of alcoholic drinks. We would defiantly stay again if we come back to Torquay Keep up the good work guys.

My wife found this hotel on-line. Happy to report that it’s a great place to stay. Friendly & helpful welcome, lovely room (very comfy bed), expertly cooked breakfast, good advice on sites to see & just a few minutes walk to the sea or town centre. They’ve got all their Covid measures in place. Plenty of hand-sanitisers, simple temperature-tester for new guests (just like airports), rules for masks & clear, straightforward guidance. You get to enjoy your holiday stress free!

We chose this hotel after cancelling two previous bookings in Torquay due to them not meeting our needs. The booking was made based on all the good reviews. Very clean hotel no problems there room was spotless, rooms still not being cleaned during your stay however you can request bins emptied and towels changed. The hosts are very knowledgable regarding the area and also cannot do enough for you. Outside pool area is nice and no longer need for pre booking a slot, indoor pool and hot tub does need to be booked still. Walk to harbour about 10 mins but is quite hilly so if you have mobility problems you may find difficult coming back. Book restaurants before you go as trying to get in anywhere at the moment is a nightmare.
We chose hottest week of the year and was amazing, however rooms are extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Air con for the future would be a great addition.
Latest you can eat at hotel is 7.30 which is a bit early for us and bar shuts at 10 would be nice to sit on terrace a bit later when weather is hot.

Dear Ms McPhee. Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us at Crofton House hotel, which you found spotless with an attentive knowledgeable staff team. As you say, although ware not servicing rooms and suites at the moment due to Covid-19, guests are welcome to request replacement items for their room from staff members. We have made our range of leisure facilities as available as possible in these Covid times, which guests appear to appreciate and feel safe in using. Torquay is built across seven hills, however, our garden path takes guests on the level to the sea front, bars, restaurants and the town centre. We often recommend guests book places to eat in advance and frequently send guests the link to the 'Torquay eat out guide'. As you say, your booking was in exceptionally hot weather, even for the English Riviera. Though we do not offer air-con, our windows are able to open fully and we do offer guests the use of fans. Although our last table booking is at 7.30pm, guests can, and often do, relax over their meals for a long as they wish. Although our bar closes at 10pm guests can, and regularly do, sit with drinks on the terrace way into the night. Although we are disappointing we were not able to meet your needs, we feel the information we provide on our website covers many of the points you raise so guests are not disappointed when they they stay with us. Please be assured the vast majority of our guests feel we need their needs for a safe relaxing stay in Torquay, with many returning again and again. Kind regards. Furdoon and Stuart.
