Detailed Reviews
Stayed 2 years ago and despite a change of ownership still the great stay we experienced before.
Still have the touch of a cupcake on arrival in your room and a very good and varied hospitality tray plus fridge with fresh water and milk.
Bed very comfy and nice sized bathroom and all things you need for a stay (shampoo, shower gel, soap, etc)
Breakfast choice was amazing and despite loving a full english out of the 4 nights we stayed i actually had the large breakfast granola bowl 2 days it was that nice.
Every day as well we had an extra treat to try and they were all a hit for sure (pancakes, Savoury muffin, quiche and cake which were all lovely)
Flat 10-15 minute walk to town, free parking on site, free Wi-Fi there isn't anything not too like.
Al covid procedures in place and felt fully safe.
Dirk and Graham were great hosts and Parker the little dog was a massive hit as well.
Many thanks and will be back again for sure.

We stayed here on a long weekend for a couple’s getaway for our anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted by the very welcoming Graham & Dirk (and Parker the Frenchie). Our room was immaculate, spacious and had everything we needed. We were greeted in our room to homemade cupcakes and a wide variety of teas, hot chocolate and fresh milk.
On arrival, the hosts were very accommodating asking us which teas we drank ( I am fussy and have fresh lemon with green tea) something which they went out of there way to provide me with each morning at breakfast. Thank you! This small touch was greatly appreciated. We were also given suggestions by Graham and Dirk on places to visit in Torquay which was very helpful as we had not visited here before.
The breakfast provided each morning really was outstanding. The menu provided a wide variety of dishes and we could find no fault with the food. The homemade Greek yoghurt and the homemade marmalade and strawberry jam was absolutely delicious. The only one issue which we had was a faulty shower head which can easily be fixed. However this was out shadowed by the fantastic hosts and spectacular attention to detail.
Overall, our stay at the Marmalade B&B truly was outstanding and the hosts really couldn’t have done much more. We would definitely return when we come back to Torquay and recommend to family and friends who were also visiting. Thank you Graham and Dirk for such a wonderful stay. I

So today we’ve just said goodbye to Paul & Suzy mine hosts of Marmalade B and B in Torquay our Fourth stay over the past three years.
We stayed Monday to Friday and having parked in the free parking space at the property once again not disappointed with the welcome we received on arriving then the showing to our lovely room on the first floor fronting the property.
This room is spacious with a large on suite bathroom with a double shower.
Bathrobes and plenty of towelling for your use. The bed is a lovely comfortable bed made up of Egyptian cotton sheets, high quality duvet and two luxurious pillows for each of us.
There is a double wardrobe with a small fridge inside with fresh milk and two bottles of water provided. Tea and coffee making facilities and two welcoming home made little cakes for our consumption. A flat screen tv with remote control.
Having given us the three keys to the building which you can come and leave as you wish, we agreed a time for breakfast having made choices for any cooked breakfast or part breakfast then left to settle in.
There is a breakfast room where residents sit for breakfast. There are good choices of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts and apple/orange juices which you can help yourself to eat before if ordered cooked breakfast/s or part of are served with freshly brewed tea or coffee. Freshly made toast with butter, jams or marmalade to be had.
A chance to enjoy your breakfast with some informative help of what’s accessible amenities and places of interest nearby by walking, by car or local bus travel or using the train which is close by.
Mine hosts are very helpful in making your stay as enjoyable as can be and endeavour to ensure your every need is met.
They will happily advise what’s good to visit and enjoy learning about you as visitors and enjoy a bit of banter. Paul will keep you entertained with his jokes.
This stay we visited, Exeter, Newton Abbot. Teignmouth, Dawlish, Tavistock, Brixham Dartmoor and of course Torquay itself.
There are no negatives to say in relation to the room, food or welcome received and we will be back again in the Spring to make more memories.

We had a wonderful stay at Marmalade. The house was clean and tidy and the room and bathroom, bright and spacious. Beautiful white bedsheets. Wonderful host and delicious breakfast. Close to centre, walking and we definitely enjoyed being there.
I would recommend anyone who wants to stay in a warm, homey place to book here as the hosts were very friendly and always smiling.
Thank you for looking after us, we had a wonderful time.

Not a bad little B&B very friendly hosts. Rooms not massive but well appointed with everything you would need from a b&b. Nice size bathroom. Breakfast was nice with a great choice for a bed breakfast. The rooms are starting to show signs of age although decor is nice it’s the little things. Shower hose very dirty and could do with replacing. Towel holder loose needs refitting. Bed balance sheet needs replacing. Just the small bits. Most B&B places seem to be all on the same road and it’s quite busy so except some road noise but that’s gonna be wherever you stay on the Avenue. Distance to the seafront is about 15 min flat walk so not too bad. Parking on site only 4 places but loads right next door on street. All in all was fine.

Suzy and Paul were very friendly and gave us nice tips for the transport and the things we could do in that area. They were very flexible with the variety of homemade delicious breakfasts too. Room was cute and spacious. We would definitely come back!

I'm so pleased we booked to stay a few days at Marmalade B&B , the hosts were a fabulous couple called Paul & Suzy who made our stay as comfortable as they could and went above and beyond to help us or get us things for our room etc. We had a lovely, freshly cooked, hot breakfast cooked fresh to order by Suzy, which was delicious. The bedroom was comfortable and had everything in it. Suzy even made little cakes in our room to welcome us, what a lovely touch mmmmm! Thank you! We would definitely recommend you stay here and if were back up that way we will definitely be booking again. Thank you Paul & Suzy , love Lynn & Peter Sells xx

This was our second stay with Paul & Suzy at Marmalade B&B in Torquay. Once again a fabulous welcome from the hosts who gladly shared their home with us for 4 nights. Ideal base for visiting many of the nearby beaches and places such as Dartmoor, Dartmouth Tavistock Teignmouth and Dawlish. Lovely room named “Bergamot” en suite bathroom with luxury shower. Breakfast is lovely and plentiful and nothing is too much to ask for being it a full English or eggs on toast etc with cereals and fresh fruit and yogurt tea and coffee freshly made to order. There is parking available and close by a rail link. Another fabulous holiday made more so by Paul & Suzy’s lovely welcome Recommended 10/10
