We travelled 300 miles down to Torquay for a mini break only to arrive at the most shocking Airbnb which was uninhabitable.... after a search we came across Court Prior B&B. We turned up on their door step like Mary and Joseph after a long journey 😂 Anthony and Pauline could not have been more accommodating. We stayed in the Master Suite room for 3 nights which was just beautiful. Their local knowledge is second to none and so is the breakfast! So thank you for accommodating us at such short notice and making our weekend a memorable one xx
It is with much regret that I must write this review. Unfortunately, during our stay, I suffered severe food poisoning which caused me to be bed bound for a 12-hour period. (Please note food poisoning not contracted at the B&B) In this time my partner left to try and find some food for himself as we for obvious reasons would not be able to go out to eat. He brought back a portion of fish and chips which he sat and ate on the chair provided. The next morning, we had meant to take out the rubbish and innocently forgot. Although still feeling unwell we went out to enjoy our day. That afternoon I received a phone call from Anthony and was confused and concerned as to why the B&B would be calling me on my private number during our holiday (thinking there must be some kind of emergency). Anthony proceeded to share his concerns about the fish and chip packaging being left in the room as it had caused a smell in our room. Windows were left wide open during our stay due to the weather and the smell of the room was not my biggest concern as you can imagine. I tried to explain the situation and profusely apologised only to be shouted at down the phone and spoken to like a child. I was completely shocked at the situation and the way it was handled and would have preferred to be addressed in person on arrival back to the B&B rather than on my private number. Not only this but we were not made aware that there were ANY rules on food upon arrival or at any point in our stay (no leaflets or welcome guide advising on food being brought back) or else we would have obliged. After the phone call, my partner and I felt very uncomfortable returning to Court Prior however wanted to again apologise for any upset caused. I ended up leaving the establishment as although we had apologised continuously, Anthony and Pauline proceeded to argue about the situation and caused me great upset and embarrassment. They continued to express concerns to my partner about the possibility that food could have gotten on the “expensive furniture” or on the “£500 carpet” (which it absolutely did not) but can understand their concerns and maybe worth stating rules on arrival rather than after a situation has occurred. They continued to express that they would have rather us ring them at 9:30 pm to make us a sandwich. Firstly, I personally don’t see it appropriate to ring the B&B owners unless for emergency reasons especially late at night. Secondly, I would never be so rude as to ask someone who I do not know to “fix me up some dinner”. And thirdly, we are two professional adults very capable of dealing with our own situation. After the incident we had one more night’s stay booked and heavily considered leaving our holiday early as we had been made to feel so uncomfortable over a situation that was in our eyes a complete overreaction. Nonetheless, we decided to stay and before leaving went to thank Pauline for the breakfast and was met by an eye-roll and a forced “thanks”. We were completely taken aback with how badly the hosts dealt with this situation and can’t help but think that if it had been an older couple in our situation it would not have been dealt with this way. It overtook any of the positives from the experience for us and consequently ruined our holiday. Of course, there are many positives to Court Prior B&B but after this situation, I don’t feel it appropriate to comment further.…

Absolutely loved this B&B, Pauline and Anthony were the perfect hosts and made me feel very welcome indeed. The room was exceptional and ideal just for me and it was very quiet at night, very good facilities with everything you need and free wi-fi. Breakfast was very good with a good choice. I would highly recommend this top B&B.
