Firstly I must say the lodge and hot tub is beautiful.
However we booked through Hoeseasons and I paid for an early check in which the park would not honour. They blame covid 19 for this but we then found out check out is 9am, so plenty of time to clean before check in at 5.
On top of this you also have to strip all beds and bag them up with towels.
Again fair enough but to ask you to do this and check out at 9 seems excessive.

The lodge was clean but I wiped the floor and the tissue was dirty, two mugs were encrusted and the windows cobwebbed.

The 100 pounds security deposit was a shock too and I did wonder if some guests might not have the budget for this on top of the cost of the holiday.

I feel that the late check in and early check out really cut your break short and can't see it's necessary to ensure a deep clean which frankly should be done even without a pandemic.

That said we had a nice time, it was very quiet and close to local beaches.

It's worth pointing out that the parks neighbours decided to torment us in the last night by banging plastic sticks loudly onto a ladder the other side of the hedge and making loud animal growls. Frightened my dog and children. We were sitting quietly on the decking and making no noise.

I told them to bugger off after 5 minutes. We were in lodge 15 if you wanted to check it out.

Lovely Location just outside Paignton. Well signposted and easy to find. When we arrived at the site it was again easy to find our Lodge and Parking Bay.
The check-in process was done via a weblink we were emailed prior to arrival and prompted a passcode to be entered which then gave us the 4 digit code to get the key to our Lodge.
We had Lodge 34 which was a 2 Bed with Hot Tub.
The parking for this Lodge was very tight and subsequently we found it easier to unload then park our car in the visitor / overflow parking near the entrance.
Inside we found the Kitchen had all the standard self catering equipment and a dishwasher.
The Lounge area had plenty of space as did the dining area.
A small drawback to the Lounge Area was that due to Covid there were no cushions so the sofa was not that comfortable. The TV we also found often would not display the TV guide and the installed software meant Screen-casting / mirroring also did not work.
Upstairs the Lodge had an en-suite in each room with one being a family bathroom with Shower Head and the other a Shower room.
The beds were okay although we did find the odd rogue hair on bedding etc.
Generally the upstairs felt a little unloved with some cracked floor tiles and some cobwebs in corners.
The outdoor patio area was large with a patio door each end of the lodge (Dining & Lounge). The Hot Tub was large suitable for at least 4 Adults and worked without issue. The only drawbacks were that i could not see an outdoor light for the area and that the patio area was often covered in leaves / tree needles making it messy to bring into the Lodge.
In terms of Hot Tub maintenance we often saw it being seen to twice a day and you could generally smell the added chlorine which is always a positive.
All the Indoor amenities were closed due to lockdown restrictions including Reception, Indoor Pool, Spa and Restaurant. Therefore I cannot rate it.
One odd point was our last night there was a gathering at the reception complex with music and people indoors but i was not sure whether it was staff gearing up to reopen.
Would return

We came here for a rare family gathering and I was surprised to find a place so well-equipped and modern in the heart of the Devon countryside. The unit we stayed in was the equivalent of a large three bedroomed house, with spacious living areas and a hot tub outside. All rooms have TV and free WiFi and the kitchen was equipped with all mod cons. The spa was very swish and the Sunday roast we had was one of the best I've had. In fact I ate so much of the complimentary spuds and gravy I could barely move! The staff are outstanding. Tina, as Front of House was incredibly warm and knowledgeable and this eased seamlessly us into our stay. The spa staff were great and the bar manager was very friendly and genuine. I'd really recommend Beyond Escapes and we have, as a family, unanimously decided that we will hold our next reunion here too.

Stayed August 2020 for 4 nights for a change of scenery. Due to COVID-19 check in time is 17:00 but we arrived an hour early and were able to access our Mansion Suite anyway. The suite was large and very spacious. A travel cot, high chair and stair gate had been provided to us as requested on booking. The kitchen was well stocked and has a fridge freezer, microwave, induction job, oven, washing machine and dishwasher. The only downside is the size of the freezer if you intend on self catering. It is very small. A large pizza had to be unboxed and snapped in half to fit in so don’t expect to store much at all. The fridge though is of good size. The bedrooms are large with plenty of space for the travel cot and lots of wardrobe space as well. The bedrooms only have blinds which could be an issue on bright mornings but seemed to block the light fairly well.
There are lovely views out to the sea from the front of the building.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend the accommodation and return if visiting the area again.

This was our first family holiday, and upon reading some of the previous reviews about the place being a mess, and unclean I was a little apprehensive. Some reviews state things that cannot be changes such as leaves in the garden, other guests being noisy. We took these with a pinch of salt. The other state about it being in country lanes, of course it’s a countryside resort, which makes the views even better. But that was all gone when we stepped into our apartment. We booked a 2 bed with a hot tub and our boy loved having the choice of 2 beds every night. Rooms were super comfortable. The en-suites were in a great condition and lovely and warm which was perfect for getting out the hot tub and shower. The apartment was lovely and clean and the kitchen had everything we needed, fridge and freezer are a decent size too. Hot tub was lovely, we were in the every night. Was never bothered by the staff coming into check so they are very stealthy at doing this. Our only issue was we couldn’t connect our Now Tv HDMI stick but like we said we aren’t here for the tv, so just spent time in the evenings seeing what was on. I’m sure If we were desperate for it we could have phoned someone and they would have sorted it. On our arrival day we had a takeaway from the restaurant which was delicious, you just pop to the restaurant order and pay then they deliver to your room. We then had a lovely meal in the restaurant and when I couldn’t find a cocktail I liked the waiter asked me my favourite then went and made it. Lovely touch!! Ended our evening on the bar terrace with more drinks and hot chocolate for our little one. Check in and out times are obviously a little different due to Covid but it was no issue. Every member of staff we came across was lovely and the area is always kept nice and tidy. We would definitely return! It was a great first family holiday.

Me and my partner stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of January. We were allocated lodge 16 which is a corner lodge with its own parking space directly outside and private hot tub on the rear decking.

Check in was super easy - simply follow the email instructions and get your wristband from the key-holder next to the front door.

The lodge itself was fab, very spacious and with all facilities needed for a home from home stay.

2 slight niggles in relation to the accommodation- firstly, there was a strong smell of dog in the lodge and as we don't have pets the smell was very noticeable as soon as we opened the door. However, a quick trip to Aldi for some spray air freshener resolved this issue. Secondly, the bed in the main bedroom had a huge dent in it on the righthand side making it impossible to sleep on your tummy.

There is underfloor heating throughout the downstairs of the lodge and this really warmed the place up, much needed given it was so cold outside. The showers were very warm and powerful too, very nice after getting out of the hot tub.

We ate in the restaurant once during our stay and this was amazing. The food was delicious and the Irish man who served us was lovely (apologies as we didn't get his name). I even tried some of his homemade raspberry gin which was delicious. It cost a little under £100 for 2 starters and 2 mains, 3 Gins, 1 Brandy and 1 Rum.

I also had a massage off Abigail and this too was amazing. £55 for a 45 minute deep tissue neck, shoulder and back massage. Abigail was very professional and polite and the room was warm and relaxing.

We were very lucky and got our 4 night stay at an incredible price of a little over £200. We will definitely be back for a second visit in the future if we can get another fab price. In the meantime I'm already looking at other Landal lodges for January 2023.

This place is like heaven on earth! The accommodation is top class, comfortable and squeaky clean!-comfortable beds and individual Jacuzzis for each lodge. Stunning open 360 views of the country side, top of the world!!
Lovely welcome with extremely friendly staff. Booked in and looked after by the lovely Tina who made us feel very welcome and special. Nothing was too much trouble fir Tina! She even volunteered to keep the bar open for the guests on New Years eve where we were treated to a glass of bubbly from manager Richard!
Spa facilities were second to none! Extremely clean, fragrant and with lovely friendly staff!
Individual Jacuzzis are checked and monitored daily by the lovely Nathan, who is friendly professional and discrete.
We had a truly wonderful time at New Year and will definitely be returning for a top quality meal in the friendly comfortable bar restaurant for a Sunday carvery very soon.
Thank you to the staff and management for making this such a relaxing get away for us!

We stayed in Mansion Suite 48 from 6th July for a week. This is the only three bedroom suite in the mansion so if you book 'mansion suite 3' via Hoseasons you will get this one.

The suite is on the first floor. It was very spacious and was clean when we arrived. It was equipped with everything we needed and had a lovely view of Torbay from the living room. It was very quiet both day and night. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were geat.

Like the previous reviewer, the 9am checkout was a bit of a rush for us. We however knew this when booking.

My only complaints are:

1. The fridge was small for a self catering apartment for 6 people. We had previously stayed in suite 47 (4 person suite) which we remembered having a fridge at least as big if not bigger than this one. We were trying to limit our supermarket trips this time so a bit more space would have been useful.

2. We were given towels for 4 not 6. There were only 4 of us but I had assumed that we would be provided with towels for 6, given we had paid more for a larger apartment. We didn't ask for more towels. We washed and tumbled dried them instead!

Barton Pines is in a rural location. You definitely need a car.

Not all of the two bedroomed mansion suites have outside space. I think these do: 44,45,47,49 (one bed) and 50 (tower). I think Hoseasons the rooms at booking so it is worth asking if this is an issue for you.

First of all this resort is in Paignton not Totnes as described.

Second if you don’t have a SatNav make sure you do NOT use apple maps as the postcode isn’t listed correctly and will take you to completely the wrong place. Googlemaps is spot on!

We stayed in a woodland lodge with a hot tub. There was myself, sister and niece. The lodge could sleep 4 plus a little one in a cot. Think it would be a little cramped though we found it was just enough room for us and we were comfortable.

The lodge was decorated with a modern theme and high spec finishes such as soft close cupboard doors. Soft close toilet seat and sensor turn on mirrors. Ours wasn’t cleaned to a high standard. It was tidy on arrival and the kitchen was clean in cupboards and utensils. However, toilets not so clean and on the floor there was tiny bits of glass and my sister ended up getting some in her foot. As a result we all made sure we had shoes on when walking around even my 2 year old niece.

Beds were clean and linen lovely and soft. It was hot inside but reception staff loaned us some fans to keep cool.

The hot tub was fab and plenty big enough although we were overlooked by next lodge. And there was a little fenced area with table and chairs. You also have your own parking space for one car.

There is a restaurant on site and the food is delicious. The menu doesn’t change although they have specials which seem to change every 2/3 days.

All the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming with a couple going the extra mile such as Steve in the restaurant and Tina on reception.

Fab stay … with a few little tweaks worthy of 5 stars.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Lodge 23 over the bank holiday weekend for 2 nights. The location was great, remote and tucked away but only 10 minutes away from the seafront by car. The lodge was gorgeous, spacious and very modern. The beds were VERY comfortable. The light up vanity mirrors are an amazing touch!

Towels, travel sized shower gel/soap, a handful of dishwasher tablets, a dishcloth, tea towel, and sachet tea and coffee were provided. As well as all cutlery, crockery and pots and pans! No replacement bin bags, or cleaning products were however, so would definitely recommend bringing them along.

The heating is under floor, and is controlled via an online portal which is very handy, or can also be some manually on the thermostat. Ours was not working on the first night, however once we contacted the our of hours team, and a member of staff was quick to come and check everything over, and supplied some heaters. All was sorted by the time we woke up.

The hot tub was amazing, very easy to use, and always on and ready to be used. A maintenance guy comes twice per day, however we only saw him once and this was very early in the morning. You can also check the temperature via the online portal, but this cannot be amended.

Self Check-In and Check-Out, again using the online portal. Very easy to follow and convenient.

Overall a fantastic experience, and would highly recommend.
