A busy Premier Inn in the East Cliff district. Adjoining new-ish student residential colleges, this hotel was good for what it does - budget hotel rooms that are clean, usable, with a bathroom, and a bar and restaurant-lounge area downstairs, and parking nearby. The room seemed a tad sparse, it looked like there once may have been a couch or perhaps room for a trundle bed. The queen bed was large and very comfortable. I slept very well. Although a bit sparse in soft furnishings, the bathroom did have a bath which was nice. My main critique would be this. The very nice and helpful young staff downstairs are clearly understaffed. At times it seemed there was one staff to manage the bar, the restaurant and reception. At times there were long periods where used glasses and plates from food would sit on tables as the staff too busy to clear. The staff that were there were very nice and cheerful, and one staff we liked who quite skilfully managed to calm a very irate customer. She is to be commended - real management material. She also re- checked me in when I'd booked an extra night and enabled me to stay in the same room. All in all, myself and my colleagues who were staying for the NEU conference in Bournemouth were quite pleased with your hotel. With thanks.

Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed at many Premier Inn hotels over the years. Without a doubt this is definitely one of the best. Excellent facilities throughout, lovely room with fully functional amenities, comfortable bed/pillows/linens. Beautiful sea views were a great bonus as was the handy luggage storage facility. Outstanding customer service from check-in to check-out, tasty breakfast with a superb range of choices, clean and tidy cafe/bar/restaurant area with a welcome, easy going vibe. Overall it was a great stay, so much so that I was tempted to book another night and extend the weekend. Due to it’s popularity there are slight signs of wear here and there and although these tend to detract from the aesthetic the functional presentation is fairly intact. The place is clean and well ordered with professional standards exemplified. I was more than impressed and will certainly consider making this a priority stay next time I’m in Bournemouth, which I hope and trust will be very soon. This is a remarkably proficient hotel that does everything right, making it a real credit not only to the company brand but an overall winning option for the locality. Compliments all round and moreover a genuine endorsement that’s truly deserved. 4.5/5.

Where do I start? 1. After a 6 hour drive, arriving at 2.15pm, I was advised I could not check in until 3pm, but I could pay £10, for an 'early' check in! At 3pm, the 20 other guests were advised to use the digital check in screens, but both failed, leading to a long queue of unhappy people now having to queue for a manual check in. 2. I was given my key and paper card showing room number 703. After going to 'my' room, the key did not work, so they reset it. I entered 703, only to find another person already booked in. After another visit to reception they told me I was in room 708, even though my paper card said 703 and allowed me entry to 703! 3. At my check-in, I asked for my evening meal at 7.30pm each night (3 nights). This was not registered, so I was nearly stopped from eating on 2 occasions. 4. Food is very average. Waiting time was over 45 minutes, which I was told by the chef was due to ticket issues! 5. Parking is £7 per day. 6. Walls are very thin. You can hear conversations in the next rooms. I have visited many Premier Inns, and the standard is usually good. This is very poor. Staff are friendly but very inexperienced. Don't mention the Meal Deal!

After parking in the underground car park we made our way up the stairs to reception, we were instantly hit with the overwhelming scent of urine and as we reached the floor for reception we were greeted by three homeless people one of which was shouting that they needed to clean up the urine and then directed us out of a nearby door so we could access reception via the street. After reaching reception and checking in I explained the situation in the car park and was told that it was an ongoing problem and unfortunately there wasn’t anything they could do. As we were going out for dinner that evening I was concerned that I would have to take my children back through the stair well but was told there wasn’t any other way to get there. We went up to our room and as a family of four were surprised to see only one made bed there was another bed in the room but it didn’t have any bedding and as we had our two children with us we were unsure as to where our other child was expected to sleep. Unfortunately there wasn’t a phone in our room to call reception so we went down and was told someone would come and make the beds etc. We then started to shower as we were going out and discovered there were only two towel’s resulting in another trip to reception. We had now become extremely frustrated and decided we didn’t want to stay in the hotel mainly due to not feeling safe we asked for a refund but was told by the duty manager this was not possible as we had checked in and I would have to fill in an online form to make a complaint and request a refund! I therefore asked if we could be transferred to another hotel to which the duty manager said he would try to do, as we were going out for dinner he took our numbers and said he would call us. Around 20 mins later he called and said he had found a room in a premier inn nearby we gratefully accepted and was informed that he would do the transfer and call us back to confirm. Around 30 mins later he called back to say he couldn’t do the transfer as we had already checked in and we would have to rebook and pay for the other room at the hotel we were unable to do this online so had to receive a call from the other hotel to confirm the room and then book and pay once we got there at nearly 11 pm in the evening! In my opinion this hotel should be shut down until something can be done about the problem with the homeless people as it is a danger to both guests and staff, the hotel is clearly extremely understaffed and staff are unsupported. The two members or staff I dealt with in the two hotels were extremely helpful and polite but also limited in what they could do to help us which is extremely unfair to them!

The premier inn was standard, basic and clean. It felt like it was in the more studenty area of Bournemouth. The ‘secure’ car park did not feel safe. Despite a code to enter, there were people who had clearly been sleeping rough there for a while, with matresses, kettles and microwaves. We also witnessed people taking drugs in the stairwell and there was evidence of eating and drinking in the disabled lift. It was an education for my young children. I was pleased my husband was with me.

Stayed here on 26th march overnight as went to simple minds gig . Let’s start with negatives . Checked in at just after 3pm . The check in desk the staff took my name handed me the card no enjoy your stay or welcome banter . I went up to my room got my things put in place . The room had marks on the wall needed painting the lamps by the bed had dust in them . When I got back from gig I didn’t notice it until I got up the next day mark on side of sheet bed smelt musty . Now postives the carpet was clean the bathroom was clean and had a bath with shower in it . Me and my friend had a meal there . I had the steak salad steak was well done how I like it . My friend had a mixed grill we both enjoyed the meal . The wine I had a rose it was awful . The hotel is about a mile from bic if you want to be by the bic go to centre one opposite the pavilion. From our hotel there is a bus runs every few minutes and late at night too . Parking at car park I parked on Yorke street rant the ring go state number of place your car details and pay card on your phone cost for 24 hours 5.90 . Not a bad place just needs a bit of a spruce up of room tlc. And staff need training on welcoming guests . My room was facing main road but I heard no noise I slept well .

We stay here regularly and like Premier Inn as they have good beds and good breakfast. Our air con didnt work during the night and I emailed the company about this afterwards. Really disappointed not to receive a useful reply. Is it company policy to turn the air con off at night? It would be good to get an answer!

Joe made us feel at home, was very polite, made me and my partner laugh and made our stay worth it! He went above and beyond. He did his job and 100% more! Even it being late at night he still gave 10/10 energy and positivity! He dealt with our late night antics and made our stay amazing! Felt like a friend! He was so lovely to us and deserves more than a night shift and minimum wage!
