Nestled in a prime spot, the Marsham Court Hotel delights guests with its heated pool and stunning sea views, while the accessible and family-friendly environment adds to the appeal, despite some dated areas. The hotel's service garners high acclaim for the staff's warmth and professionalism. Cleanliness is another strong point, with immaculate rooms and well-maintained premises.
Although opinions on value are divided due to occasional unexpected charges, the location is a hit for its proximity to the beach and local attractions. Room experiences vary, balancing positive remarks on cleanliness and views with some concerns over maintenance and decor.

Hotel's Favourite
We have just returned from another amazing stay at Marsham court hotel.
We have stayed at the hotel for the past 7years for the air show week and very much feel we are returning to be with family, it’s lovely to be remembered by staff especially Kirsty, Matt and Pat and for them to take an interest in our family. Particularly family members who are no longer with us.
The hotel goes from strength to strength each year we attend and the renovation work is top notch!
Any minor issues are rectified immediately and the £5 credit per day for the bar if you do not have a room clean is brilliant.
The only 1 quibble this year is the service charge that is automatically added, completely understand the concept but we did find ourselves not using the bar/food as frequently as previous years.
Also being able to see the red arrow pilots was an amazing surprise!
Keep doing what your doing and we look forward to seeing you all again next year

Booked this hotel for a couple of nights as the weather forecast a very hot weekend. Parked in the covered hotel car park (no charge as we booked directly with hotel. Charges apply if booked through an agent though).
Very welcoming staff, modern, clean, spacious reception and bar/lounge areas. Our standard room was a little small but modern, spotless and well equipped with tea/coffee, biscuits, hairdryer etc. Very nice bathroom with lovely powerful shower. Only complaint is the room was sooooo hot! A fan was supplied but just warm air circulated.
Breakfast was hot and tasty. The staff were constantly on the go, wearing masks and gloves. In the 30+ degree temperature, they were visibly struggling but still smiling. Probably should have a couple more staff on duty as throughout the day, minimal staff (2 or 3) had to cover food and drink throughout the hotel bar/lounge, terrace and pool. Meant waiting for longer than some people might like but the staff could obviously do no more. Still, strange times we are going through and just a little patience is required. Hotel is in an excellent location, just 5 minute walk downhill to all that Bournemouth has to offer. Good Wi-fi throughout hotel and grounds. We would stay here again.

Dear KFancett, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and were able to enjoy all aspects of it. We appreciate that we have had some beautiful weather the last few weeks and we provide fans in every bedroom to help but as an old building we would struggle to put in air conditioning plus this would need planning for the bedrooms due to being on a conservation area. Quite a lot of our foreign students went home back to their countries just before lockdown and unfortunately this has left Bournemouth as a whole slightly short staffed for the season, but the staff have been amazing and are coping well with the extra work. We do have a lot more procedures in place for the summer now which are updated on a daily basis. As soon as people click onto our website there is a click through that will tell them the changes we have made and what we may have to do depending on how busy we are and what government guidelines have changed. Please know that feedback such as yours is important to us to help us improve our offering. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the not so distant future. Kind regards Rosie Radwell, Managing Director

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Hotel is in a good location with close proximity to the beach (5-10 mins walk) and restaurants/bars (10-15 mins walk), close enough for amenities with it still being quiet and peaceful. We liked that this was a family run hotel over a chain, that there was on site parking (although limited spaces) and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. All the reviews online were positive and our experience was no different. The swimming pool is very well maintained and heated, although still slightly cold for August! The hotel does need modernising but it is clear work is underway and they have posters throughout the hotel showing their progress updates. The room itself was a good size with very comfy bed but is looking a bit tired and in need of modernising. They offer a good buffet breakfast although we felt it was slightly overpriced, they do however offer a lighter breakfast option at the bar. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again but in one of the modernised rooms. Thank you Marsham Court for a lovely weekend.

We stayed for a three night dance break at the beginning of January, in a sea view room on the second floor. This was a good sized room with a modern bathroom and a settee placed in front of the bay windows. Rooms were serviced daily and the public rooms were well maintained. The hotel is situated just behind the Russell Cotes Gallery, so it is easy to reach the pier, town centre and park. There is a large car park behind the hotel. Guests who book directly with the hotel have free car parking. We were a large group and had breakfast and evening meals in the hotel's dining room with its large dance floor. The set evening meals provided us with a number of choices for each course. We thought the quality of the food was very good with ample portions. All the staff that we met were friendly and helpful. We have already booked for the same time next year, which is a recommendation in itself.

Visited with my twenty year old granddaughter and my six year old grandson to have a little beach holiday. We had a family balcony room with sea views which was lovely. The room was I believe, recently refurbished and was clean and comfortable, equipped to meet most needs and including a small fridge. It would have been good to have some small, quality toiletries and shower caps for the bathroom as all that was provided were two small bars of soap for the handbasin and a giant, do-it-all soap dispenser on the wall in the shower. We decided to eat dinner in the hotel after a long trip and we had to make a reservation and select our meals before five o’ clock. Unfortunately, it wasn’t made clear when I booked directly with the hotel that dinner in the restaurant was only available to those who booked this at the time they booked to stay and we had not! The bar menu we were offered is limited but we all enjoyed everything and it was beautifully cooked and presented. However, the options would become rather restrictive without being able to use the restaurant on a longer stay. Breakfast in the large room at the rear of the hotel was very good with any request happily undertaken by the friendly and helpful staff. However, the nicer, front facing restaurant rooms were empty and the breakfast hall has a rather corporate feel.
I read that the hotel is being continuously refurbished and our room was clean and refurbished but I was taken aback by the state of the staircases and lifts that let the hotel down. With covid requirements I would expect public areas to be vey clean but the larger lift had a dusty, dirty ledge and the carpets in both lifts and the staircases needed a thorough clean. I made use of the many hand sanitiser stations that the hotel provides.
Overall, we had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay, helped by the lovely staff
I do not rate it as a four star hotel and no doubt covid has made a difference for everyone.

Dear fanbo, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am glad that you enjoyed your 2 night stay for the most part. We have moved away from the small disposable toiletries as it is more eco friendly and helps battle the issues with plastic. We do have a small amount available for guests at reception but we do not put them in the rooms for this reason. We have had to adapt our offering for meals due to staff illness and the pingdemic but we hope that this will not continue for much longer. We have a full refurbishment programme in place with all our projects and timelines listed in the corridor to the restaurant. Please know that feedback such as yours is important to us to help us improve our offering. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the not so distant future. We stayed for 2 nights with my family.
The hotel is a little tired looking but spotlessly clean.
We had 3 rooms on the top third floor. A family room for 4 persons and 2 double rooms.
The staff are helpful and Covid aware, wearing face shields. There are hand sanitizers in many locations.
The rooms have great amenities. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board, fridge, kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits. Each morning there is a little basket outside the room with extra toilet rolls, towels, tea and coffee.
The breakfast was waiter served and socially distanced. There was a good choice and we all enjoyed it.
The only downfall was that the rooms were unbearably hot. We had 2 fans but it was still difficult to sleep . We spoke to another guest who was also on the top floor but with a room facing a different direction, who also said he was having problems. It spoilt the trip as we couldn’t be in the rooms at all other than to try to sleep- and the heat made this difficult. It was 21 degrees in bournemouth whilst we were there- I think if it was any warmer, then I’m not sure the rooms would be bearable.

Dear debg627, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. As an old building in a conservation area we do our best to accommodate all the needs of our guests but air conditioning is just not a possibilitiy in our bedrooms and normally is only found in new build properties. We do provide fans in every room. It is really nice to know that what are doing is appreciated for the most part, just sorry we were not able to provide air conditioning in the rooms. Please know that your feedback is really important and helps us to improve on our offering. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future, where we may be able to change your opinion of us. We stayed here for 2 nights had a really lovely time. It was our first time away since we were locked down in March. They made us feel at ease with measures in place such as limiting the amount of people at the pool, table service and sanitising stations situated throughout. We enjoyed the breakfast and a lunch that we had on our last day as well as a few late night drinks in the bar. We had a family room which was very spacious with an amazing view of the sea and the room also had a small fridge we could use for our own drinks etc. We will definitely return soon!

booked online when the hotel was nearly full and saw it had a two bed apartment available on a self service basis.
Booked the two bed apartment online and info came through by email which was fine. Also then asked a few questions online which were promptly answered and responded to in full.
A couple of days prior to arrival got an email about parking, arrival and booking in time which all seemed fine.
Although a bit of confusion on arrival about check in time. Was told on arrival that check in was 4pm - although the email in advance said 3pm. on asking about this was told the hotel was 3pm check in but self service apartment was 4pm. Not a good start and told them they need to sort arrival time and give out correct info in advance.
On getting to the apartment which was on the other side of car park we were pleasantly surprised. The approach to the apartment left us wondering what we may be walking into but once inside found it very spacious and very much to our liking.
The main bedroom had a king size/queen size double bed and bunk beds and an attached bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The one negative about this room and a very minor point is that the bedroom did have a wall bracket and Arial for TV but looked like the TV had recently been removed.
Second bedroom had two single beds and a separate shower room which was at the other end of apartment.
The lounge area was very large and nicely decorated and furnished and with us being with two small kids the lounge proved a great addition for them to play in.
A short while after we got to apartment a knock on door resulted in staff arriving with a small 'arrival pack' of food , bread, bacon, eggs and sausage and a nice bottle of Prosecco. Very nice!
Also in the lounge kitchen area we found milk, coffee tea bags and cleaning up materials.
While on check in I did ask about beakfast in hotel and intended to book breakfast of a daily basis we did not need to do so due to the food arrival pack.
Only used the bar for barfood once during our 3 night stay and the service and food was 'ok'. A very limited menu was available and only during limited times due to staff shortages.
A sceptical view may be that limited service was due to staff shortages AND the fact that hotel had booked wedding receptions and staff needed to service wedding party.
The outdoor pool was put to good use throughout our stay and it felt very safe for the kids.
Location of hotel is great for beach and pier but it is located at the top of a steep hill and walk - but then again , what hotel in Bournemouth isn't!
All in all a very nice and comfortable stay and when we plan to return we plan to request the apartment once again.

+1
We went just after hotels came out of lockdown so I guess that might have affected our experience at the hotel but .... the location and pool were excellent and our room, with a balcony, had great views over the sea but those were really the only plus points. It was expensive for what it was. There is no atmosphere anywhere and the main areas feel a bit like a privately run retirement home. The bar shut very early and there is nowhere else nearby to get a drink. Our room was very small and tired and the bathroom was tiny. We had to tick boxes on a piece of paper the items we wanted for breakfast which offered pretty much no choice other than full English, toast and cereal. The Dining room is like a care home dining room with no decor or soft furnishings as such. I have never been served a breakfast on such a small plate. It was like a child’s plate. Quite bizarre. I overheard other guests commenting positively on the hotel so it obviously appeals to some but we won’t be returning or recommending it.

Dear terryoo2015, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you felt your stay was overpriced and bland. We are continuously refurbishing the hotel and have spent over £1 million in the last couple of years with more projects being continued this winter, including refurbishing the whole front of the hotel with new balconies and some windows. Most of our bedrooms and function rooms have now been completed but due to social distancing measures we have had to structure the way some of the areas are. All our bedrooms are different sizes as we have an older building which has been added to over the years. We offer fruit juice, fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and porridge, tea, coffee, toast, croissants and a full English breakfast with vegetarian sausages as an option. Most hotels in our area have only opted to offer a breakfast in the bag option, but we felt a cooked breakfast option was important to our guests and I am sorry that it fell short of your expectations. Please know that feedback such as yours is important to us to help us improve our offering. I am sorry that we will not have the opportunity to welcome you again. Kind regards Rosie Radwell, Managing Director

An unusual review - with everything that is going on with the Covid 19 virus.
Visited 13-15 March for the weekend. We have stayed here numerous times now and keep returning
I would like to say that the hygiene level in the hotel was extremely high 5/5. Hand sanitisers at key points in public areas including Toilets,Bar/ Reception and Restaurant entrance. Staff were spotted regularly sanitising their hands, which was reassuring to see. Also spotted an employee have their temperature taken with a 'scanner'. We obviously took extra personal hygiene precautions over the weekend, however it was reassuring to see that staff were also visibly carrying this out. Our sea-view room was spacious and comfortable.
Staff as always were helpful and friendly.

If you have booked through an online travel agent parking is charged at £15 per car per night ; however, if you contact hotel we do reserve spaces for blue badge holders.
There is a schedule published clearly stating entertainment when we were last there in June. It is usually a singer in the bar and there was also a 4 person band one lunchtime. There always seems more entertainment if there is at least one coach party in. I’d recommend you ask the hotel when booking for the schedule for your dates. Best book direct with hotel as you get free parking
Hi there - we have 15 sea-view balcony rooms in total and all are facing South (ie: they are on the front of the hotel.
The hotel is in a conservation area and therefore we have to adhere to strict planning rules. The 3rd-floor rooms all have privacy screens between them, the 1st-floor rooms do not.
All our bedrooms have a small fridge in.
Yes there are plenty and refreshed every day
