The hotel on arrival was lovely got checked in by a young lady at reception called Katie who could not be more efficient and continued to help us throughout our entire stay. The room was lovely and could not be faulted. The restaurant team were so very helpful to me and my husband especially our waiter Peter who was very attentive to our needs throughout our meal. Just want to say what a pleasant stay we had and all the staff did an amazing job to make our experience incredible especially Katie and Peter. Management should be very proud of you all.
Arrived to be told there would be no service of our room for our 4 day stay. All blamed on COVID-19!!!! Albeit stayed at other hotels during this period with full service. Therefore this has to be the management saving on costs. It’s a shame that did not reflect on the customers charges. Room, which was described as the Best Room in the House, was dated, dirty and shabby; e.g the shower outlet was black with build up of dirt and nets in the room were dirty. Restaurant had limited same menu for the 3 nights we were eating, when challenged, quess what, it was COVID!! We retired to the bar most evenings which we were told was open until 10pm however on 2 occasions earlier in the evening the bar closed early. Lastly, the reception staff were neither friendly or helpful. Indeed we felt there was an element of didn’t really care. So all in all never to stay again at a hotel where the room rate was £ 265 per night and had to deal with the above. Rob, from the Midlands …
Pretty dirty inside, doesn’t look like it gets a good clean. Curtain pelmet hanging off, net curtains all ripped, lots of adjoining rooms with poorly sound proofed doors, bathroom floors look like they have years of unremovable dirt ground in to them, halls have matted carpets, reception stairs have different carpets half way up the stairs (which sort of gives the impression they do things on the cheap here), the pool is ok but you have to book a slot, which the website does not tsk you in advance. The car park doors don’t close so you may as well park in the ncp for a fiver instead of the insecure underground of the hotel for £16 a night. They only have one reception staff so you have to wait a while if the phone rings while you’re there and they are taking a reservation, I could go on but you get the picture, go and stay in a batter hotel for cheaper, one with a better location and which isn’t dilapidated.…
Stayed 4 nights at the Norfolk Royale this October. Found the hotel very dated, could do with an upgrade. Staff not particularly friendly and had to on two occasions ask for the room to be made over. Breakfast very average and again service below par. Great location but other than that not a great choice. Won’t be returning.
2 bad nights sleep, our room was situated right next to the lift - very creaky so woke us up on multiple occasions and night porter woke us up on second night sliding an invoice under our door at 4am even though we had paid? No compensation from the hotel. Worst treatment by staff I’ve ever received, not professional at all especially for a 4 star.
