Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The Hermitage is a great location right opposite the beach and close to the town. However the hotel is very dated, we asked upon booking if we could have an upgrade due to my partners birthday and upon arrival we were told we could upgrade for a further cost of £50 per night, we didn't take up this offer as we had already paid £120 for 2 nights in low season. The room we had was small and very dated, the bathroom was so tight I kept knocking the toilet roll off the toilet roll holder when I went to the toilet! The toilet flush handle was broken and the shower head was squirting water everywhere. The view from the window was of the back of the hotel overlooking a flat roof and concrete. On the plus side the hotel gave my partner two small desserts for his birthday which was left in the room, it was a nice touch. The hotel is in the process of updating some rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor which is a must, like most hotels in Bournemouth they are over priced and dated, relying on the close proximity to the beach for people to stay.

Stayed here with my husband and a large group of friends. The hotel was clean, comfortable and in such a good location close to the seafront and town but without any noise disturbance. Having eaten in the hotel restaurant, my favourite thing about the hotel was the food (which was tasty) and the staff who were so accommodating. There is limited free parking at the hotel and I imagine in peak time this gets full very quickly although there are car parks close by to use for a fee.

We enjoyed a fabulous stay here. The hotel is undergoing renovations but this didn’t affect our stay at all. We had the evening meal both nights and we were really happy with the food. After being disappointed by a Hilton stay before Christmas, this was an absolute pleasure. Staff were very friendly and polite. We’ll be returning whenever we can.

We came to Bournemouth for a gig and fancied something different to a Premier Travel Inn. Turns out reviewing a non-euro box hotel is tricky. Our room was HUGE. Even though we hadn't booked on so big. The bed was also huge, as was the en-suite family bedroom. The room was one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in, including my pet hate of the bathroom. Nothing to comment negatively about at all. The breakfast was a self serve buffet. The item quality was excellent, and there was never an empty dish - big chains could learn from that!! The staff deserve a special mention. All polite, all professional. Chatty and in good humour, even when it was late. It didn't feel like we were intruding - big chains take note, it can be done! Surely there must have been something wrong?? There was a tiny patch of carpet that was threadbare, that was it. The only other "disappointment" was a sign in the bathroom.saying we coulthat said we could take the rubber duck home, but we had no duck! ...another place I would be very happy revisiting.

The room was amazing, a great seaview too. Very big and spacious. We were in room 213. The staff couldn’t of been more politer, every one of them couldn’t of done enough for you, with a smile on there faces every time. The food was the best I’ve tasted. Amazing food.

Had a lovely night away at the Hermitage! Best hotel I’ve stayed in while visiting Bournemouth. Car park was full but was directed to a sister hotel down road to leave car. Checked in early as a room was available! As it was our first time staying - the lovely man on reception upgraded our room and left a complimentary bottle of Prosecco in our room! A really nice touch! All staff we came into contact with were super friendly! Room was clean and comfortable! We stayed for dinner which was lovely. I have no complaints about this hotel at all! Location was perfect too! Will definitely return when visiting Bournemouth again!

Dear Donna H, Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. It sounds like you had an absolutely delightful experience at The Hermitage during your night away in Bournemouth! The fact that it's the best hotel you've stayed in while visiting speaks volumes. Despite the initial hiccup with the car park being full, it's great to hear that the staff quickly found a solution for you and even directed you to a sister hotel for parking. The early check-in and room upgrade, along with the complimentary bottle of Prosecco, were certainly delightful surprises and added a special touch to your stay. It's fantastic that the staff were super friendly and that you found the room clean and comfortable. Enjoying a lovely dinner and finding the location perfect only adds to the positive experience. It's wonderful to hear that you plan to return when visiting Bournemouth again. The Hermitage seems to have made quite an impression on you! Kind regards, Amy Thomas Hotel Operations Manager

Superb place for a reunion. We were welcomed from the start, despite a few issues with the parking. It is very clean throughout. Staff were helpful. The room was well appointed and maintained. The evening meals we had were brilliant on both nights. Which fully justified their requirement for a large group to pre-order. Thus is the 1st time I have used The Hermitage and I will definitely book it again. We had a great weekend. Thanks.

WOW what a fantastic hotel. Stayed for one night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. They were upgraded to a well amazing superior sea view room. I was very jealous. They had upgraded us to a sea view room. The room were very clean lovely toiletries, biscuits, tissues, nothing to fault. The staff are a huge asset to this hotel, exceptional nothing was too much trouble. Every single one could not to do enough very attentive. Food was excellent, lovely white tablecloth for our evening meal. Hot and varied menu. Drinks very reasonably priced. Came out with a Happy Birthday plate for our friend which was beautiful (see picture below). What an amazing hotel. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Stayed at The Hermitage Hotel in Bournemouth for old school friends reunion. I was impressed that the hotel receptionist let us check in slightly earlier than 3pm, and even more impressed that my friend was allowed to park his car in the hotel car park for free, as I'd made my booking direct with ghe hotel. That was £14 saved!. I had a sea view room on the third floor, the view was half a ferris wheel and the pier. The hotel is rather old fashioned and hasn't really been updated for a while, but for me that was part of its charm. There was plenty of hot water in my room, but sadly my colleague down the hall from me couldn't get any hot water from his shower. So that obviously needs looking into. Overall, I had a pleasant stay at The Hermitage.
