The Nici hotel garners accolades for its spotless rooms and Miami-chic atmosphere, with many guests enjoying the inviting decor despite occasional noise interruptions. Its enviable location near the beach and local attractions is a highlight for travelers, as are the praised amenities like the heated outdoor pool and spa. While the rooms are generally appreciated for their style and comfort, some visitors have noted noise and maintenance issues. Although the staff receives commendations for their attentiveness, inconsistent service and questions about value for money have been raised by some guests.

We have just spent five days at the recently refurbished Savoy Hotel and it did not disappoint. The management has gone for a Miami vibe and with its Art Deco interior, art work, outdoor swimming pool and views of sandy Bournemouth beach it really works. Our family room was spacious with a brand new, big comfortable bed and a large, fresh bathroom with a walk-in shower and twin sinks. There was a separate room for our kids with their own tv which they loved. The front of house team was very friendly and attentive and were clearly very proud of their new project. The restaurant has a great menu, Miami-themed cocktails, warm friendly staff and a lovely view of the gardens and sea. The breakfast was particularly enjoyable with its home cooked and fresh continental pastries or hot meal choices. The hotel has plans to build a new swimming pool, spa and rooftop bar and we can’t wait to come back and experience that next year. We spent a lot of time at the hotel relaxing on the terrace or sitting by the swimming pool and socialising with other families. The location is excellent with sandy Bournemouth beach a three min walk down a winding path and there is plenty to do and see in the area ranging from walking along the beautiful beachfront to cycling in the New Forest or visiting Beaulieu motor museum. Big thanks to Rosie, Poppy, Domingo, Jack, Jessie, Toby and Brian for looking after us. Ignore the old pictures of the hotel on Trip Advisor. Most of the hotel has now been refurbished. There are some builders finishing off a few bits and pieces in the background but I would imagine that will all be completed in a few days.

The Savoy is truly AMAZING! we booked 5 nights to celebrate our anniversary we loved it so much that we booked an extra 2 nights. Our room was beautiful, very clean and came with a terrace with loungers so you can soak up the sun without being on a crowded beach, which is within walking distance it's also has amazing views of the courtyard. The food is top notch but if your looking for a great cocktail I suggest you check out the bar, you will not be disappointed! We sat at the bar most nights and had the Best time talking and laughing with Matt whilst enjoying a variety of delicious cocktails he makes, We also got to know Dean who will also make you a fab cocktail and is such a nice guy. There are so many staff members I'd like to thank for making our stay perfect and giving us a warm friendly welcome and we can't wait to come back again, So if your thinking of booking then definitely do it, sunbathe by the heated pool go for a walk on the beach then head back to the hotel for food and then go sit at the bar and enjoy!

There's no doubt that the hotel is stunning, it's styled amazingly and the rooms are genuinely quite luxurious. The bed was very comfy, the room was designed well and the room and bathroom was clean. The bathroom has a rainfall shower that really hit the spot. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, we both had the Eggs Benny, as well as items from the great range of continental breakfast available. The room had a well stocked mini bar, and the staff member who check us in was very helpful. I also received a phone call from the hotel a few nights before our stay to check if we had any requests which was a nice touch.

Our only complaint was the toilet, which had an issue with the flush mechanism clearly getting stuck within the wall, not stopping the toilet from flushing, therefore hearing a continuous flow of water. After relentlessly hitting the flush button it would eventually stop. I mentioned this at check out however the lady on Reception didn't seem at all bothered and it came across it was a common problem. A shame though as other than this the stay was truly excellent and we wouldn't have a complaint to give!

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bournemouth and would do so to family and friends. We will be visiting again for sure.

We stayed in a garden suite which had a terrace and mini hot tub. The room catered for our dog which was brilliant with dog bed, biscuits and bowl. Large sized room, very comfortable. The lawn is directly off the terrace so you can take the dog out from there easily rather than proceeding through the hotel.

Staff are very efficient and friendly. Room service for breakfast is great as they don't charge extra apart from, of course, the usual service charge of 12.5%.

Food very good and the atmosphere is fabulous. It would be useful if a few "specials" were available on the menu so that it can be varied. The sirloin steak was very tender and highly recommended. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere.

We used the outdoor swimmingpool, games room and had a peep in the cinema. Everything really first class. We loved the pinball machine in the restaurant!

the beautiful beach is just a short walk away. Terrific location.

We could not fault anything. thank you for a superb weekend and we hope to come again. You should introduce loyalty discount cards so that we can visit more often.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Savoy which has undergone a major refurbishment still ongoing in parts of the hotel although this did not affect our stay. Our room was a standard double fantastic bed & bathroom very clean well appointed with safe, tea/coffee facilities etc mini bar with snacks (expensive though!) breakfast was included which was good although the they were not consistent in ingredients 1 sausage served one day 2 the next & if I’m honest the second breakfast was better cooked due to a different chef. We relaxed in the seating area & ordered 2 latte coffees this is where I was disappointed the coffee came in small cups didn’t taste very nice charged £8.84 with a 12.5% service charge!!! So beware the refurbishment has a price tag! £10 per day parking on site on a first come first served basis that said ideal location for centre of Bournemouth very friendly accommodating staff.

Overall we liked our stay, but we're not sure whether the hotel offered us the value for money experience we needed to be return customers. There were a few things which made it feel like a very new hotel with some teething issues to resolve:

1. The hotel takes a £300 surcharge at check-in to cover additional expenses like the minibar - refunded on departure if no costs incurred. However, we didn't see any signage in the room to say the water was complimentary on arrival, so for nearly the entire stay, we assumed the water carried a charge because it was kept cool in the minibar fridge. In any case, we were a family of 3, so one bottle seemed a bit stingy. We've stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels where 2 bottles come as standard, so it would be a welcome addition here.

2. After a 3 night stay, we also would have appreciated our face towels replaced. This didn't happen and with no signage or instructions in the bathroom, it wasn't obvious what the hotel policy was on replacing towels (eg, stating the hotel's environmental stance and credentials).

Our floor mats oddly disappeared after the first night, so we asked for new floor mats, but these didn't materialise either. In the end, we had to use our face towels as substitute floor mats, and the more unwieldy larger towels as face towels - not good really.

3. A couple of communal areas within the hotel could have benefitted from a good hoovering and an antiseptic wipe!

Examples: The floor and the walls in the lift were often dirty (at different times of the day) and smeared with a variety of what we could only describe as the usual greasy hand prints and fluids that come from sneazing and coughing, as well as food and liquid spillages/accidents. Obviously these things do happen, but housekeeping appeared lacking and made the hotel look dirty and a bit unkept which is a shame.

Positives: Definitely the food and dinner service. If you can overlook the above grumbles, it's worth the c.£60 per head pricetag which we paid for 3 courses with wine.

Negatives: Cleanliness and lack of attention to detail; lack of the little extras. We acknowledge that there may have been resource and staffing challenges over the Easter weekend, but when you're paying c. £550 per night including dinner (as we did), it does feel like there could be more effort made to make the hotel sparkling clean

Thank you.

Beautiful hotel, lovely friendly staff, and amazing location but needs a little more attention to detail to be 5*

We travelled from London for a 2 night break at the Nici for a little escape from London.

We stayed in the cozy annex room that was dog friendly as we travelled with our small dog.

Room was lovely and clean but having a cream carpet in dog friendly rooms is not a good idea, as we could see a lot of marks all over the floor where past accidents had happened, can’t be helped but maybe a darker colour would work better.

They charge £20 a night for valet parking even if you stay at the hotel, and also charged if you are a blue badge holder and are parked in a disabled space, we are blue badge holders as my partner has a disability and we got charged for our disabled space, even though we parked our own car in the space and it was not moved from said space the entire time.

No milk for tea when we ordered room service breakfast (so strange)
No jam with croissants for room service breakfast (also strange)

Lack of staff when round the pool, never got asked if we wanted a cocktail wile we swam.

Have to ask for towels at both the spa and outdoor pool, it’s not made clear that you have to ask as there are no signs referring to that and no one offers when towels when you walk to the sun-bed or in the spa.

Most other hotels have a towel section or towels in the lockers

Food and breakfast menu is a little lack lustre basic flavours but could have just ordered the wrong thing.

Very pricey for what it is, needs a little more work to be lux.

No pen in the room to fill our room service card (small thing but had to use and eye liner) lols

Very expensive rooms 300+ a night

Pros.
Lovely friendly staff and security
Lovely grounds and beautiful spa
Nice rooms but need some little extras

Amazon location
Very nice cocktail menu with lovely drinks

Visited for a weekend with hubby and it was just perfect. The decor is gorgeous- fresh and breezy just like the weather. We booked a suite and it was well worth it - giving us extra room to lounge and admire the seaviews. Our room was on the 1st floor with French windows leading on to a wooden deck. I can imagine lunging on the sunbeds there in warmer weather.

We enjoyed dinner as part of the ‘Winter Package’ on the first night as well as the complimentary cocktails. It was excellent value. My only fault would be that mixing in elements from the A La Carte was not encouraged but was certainly an option; we stuck with the set menu and it was lovely. We loved the Burrata so much we had it 3 times throughout the weekend.

The staff are lovely, across all departments but especially the bar & restaurant. Tajah served us one night and was friendly without being over familiar. The bar staff always recalled every detail of what we’d had before and the manager on duty was welcoming & genuinely interested in how our stay was going.

Our only small ‘area for attention’ was breakfast. We had it in our room the first day and sadly it was all very cold however the issue was very promptly rectified. Likewise on Day two my eggs were really cold (though served in a hot plate!) which was a bit disappointing but they were tasty. There’s a nice buffet without being over-crowded. I did notice a few things had run out by 10am but again, still plenty of choice. I’d suggest marking the milk jugs too as I think they got swapped around and I ended up with Almond which I’m not particularly fold of! Other way around could cause issues to someone allergic however.

Finally, the atmosphere in this hotel where Chilled Ibiza meets English Riviera meets California Boutique Hotel is really really unique and the owners have got the formula perfectly! We can’t wait to get back there!

Thank you. Finula & Dave x

On arrival there was limited car parking spaces which dictated our stay slightly as we felt we couldn’t drive out in the evening as we wouldn’t have a space to return to as very few parking spaces in the area.
The hotel has been recently decorated Art Deco style which was lovely but they are still in the process of decoration so I’m sure when finished next year this will look amazing. The staff were quite attentive and helpful but I have to say the huge disappointment for us was the staff on the desk were clearly made aware that this was a very special stay for us as it was our Silver Wedding Anniversary but not a mention!! It would of been nice a few flowers in the room or something complimentary to mark this occasion as we had paid a large amount of money for this 2 day stay in a sea view room but absolutely nothing.
There was also an incidence when we returned to our room from a trip & there in the room was a huge ladder. As we wondered what was wrong, suddenly a builder walked in to the room with a key! Luckily we weren’t standing there naked! :-)…. He did apologise…
One thing i will say that we loved and that was our room, the bed was a delight, big and so comfortable but I would of expected this anyway considering the prices charged for the room.
The drinks and food were quite expensive but definitely think the menu was very limited and needs improvement especially the desserts. The vegan deserts & especially the only chocolate one that was offered at a price of £14 certainly didn’t taste fantastic , there was no wow factor.. the only wow factor was the price I paid!
I think if I was to return this would be next year 2022 when all the building works have been completed and I can see positive reviews.

Responded 10 Sept 2021
Dear Anne, I was pleased to read that you loved your room, and thought the decor was lovely and the bed delightful. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that your stay was negatively impacted by certain issues you experienced. I am sorry that you felt unable to leave the car park in fear that you would lose your space. However, we do provide valet parking and we will always make sure you have a space somewhere on our premises. In reference to our reception team, it is quite clear we have failed to communicate your celebration properly with the rest of the team and deliver to our usual high standards. I would have been more than happy to do something either in the room or the restaurant especially as it was such an important milestone. I can assure you, since receiving your comments I have spoken to all involved to ensure this does not happen again. Here at The Savoy Hotel we pride ourselves on our food offering and believe we have a varied and competitively priced menu. However, this does not deter from the fact that you did not enjoy your Vegan Chocolate Sharing Platter. It is just a shame you did not let the restaurant team know at the time as this would have given us the opportunity to rectify the situation then and there. I have passed over your comments to our Executive Chef Arron Craig who will continue to make sure our dishes have the wow factor. I do hope the issues you experienced will not deter you from joining us again. If and when you do decide, please do not hesitate to contact me directly so I can personally oversee your booking and make sure you are well looked after. Once again, thank you for your feedback. I look forward to welcoming you back to Bournemouth very soon. Kind regards, Tom Luke-Taylor Operations Manager

We stayed two nights in October and were tempted to book an extra night. Superb location near the cliff top with easy access down to the beach by a fairly steep path or the funicular. Sea view from the terrace, restaurant and some of the rooms. All the staff were very friendly and courteous and we felt like valued guests, more so than any other hotel we have ever stayed at during many years travelling in uk and abroad. Love the refurbished quirky Miami style decor. The bed and bedding were amazing, like sleeping on a cloud! Meals were delicious and breakfast was cooked fresh to order rather than a lukewarm buffet! The hotel was quiet so a few more guests would improve the ambience. Large garden and deckchairs/sunloungers. Would definitely stay again in the warmer weather and hope that the hotel attracts more guests when people realise it’s a great place to stay or even just to sit on the terrace with a drink or meal. Looking forward to seeing the new areas they have planned. We would recommend you book a sea view room or one with a sea view balcony. It’s not cheap, but we found a deal online and felt we did get value for money.

According to the hotel dogs may come into the bar but not the main restaurant area. That said, we did see some small dogs within the restaurant and it was not heavily policed. There were no issues. Outside there is a green area in front of the rooms with the hot tubs. This is in front of the outdoor pool. Some guests took their dogs on there without issue. The area was very clean throughout.

Hi Annie, Apologies for the late reply. The outdoor pool is heated year round. It does vary depending on the air temperature i.e. in summer it will be less heated than winter. The pool certainly looks nice and steamy for a morning dip at this time of year! Best Wishes, The NICI team
