Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely weekend stay. My husband booked for our wedding anniversay. No complaints at all, location was super convenient but set back from the noisy part of town, so peaceful. The room was massive and beautifully decorated. The hosts were friendly, attentive and accomodating. Quality Breakfast, delicious locally sourced ingredients. If we we're visiting the area again, this will be our top choice to book again.

Although Bournemouth is a big, noisy and restless town, you'll find plenty of peace and quiet in Southbourne at Alexander Lodge. Andi and James are very friendly and welcoming. The room was very nice, comfy beds and a delicious breakfast in a lovely room. 2 Minutes in one direction is the sea and long beach and 2 minutes in the other direction is a main road where there are restaurants, supermarkets and a petrol station. So it's a great location.

Andi and James, a lovely husband and wife duo, made us feel extremely welcomed. Home from home. Andi, during the Bank Holiday weekend managed to secure a further two days for us, because of a cancellation. The decor of the lodge is exquisite and extremely clean here. Pre order breakfast, giving huge variety of choice prepared by James was delicious. Andi recommended a place to visit eg, The Emporium - Christchurch. Stayed hours revisiting encounters of our past ie, mini corgi cars to vintage clothing. Thank you Andi and James. Highly recommended. A delightful lodge to stay 💙

It is a beautiful property. Lots of original features & well appointed. The room we stayed in was the best we've ever stayed in. The location is great close to the beach and in the other direction the shops and buses into Bournemouth. We would love to come back

Andi made us feel very welcome and comfortable in her home. On arrival, she brought us a tray of coffee and biscuits, even though we had coffee-making facilities in the room. She provided chilled water and milk and gave us use of the fridge in the dining room. We had an expresso coffee machine in the room too. The bedroom was very spacious and had a huge, comfortable bed. We had a lovely sitting area by the bay window with very comfortable armchairs. where we could look out at the quiet, tree-lined street. The bathroom was very modern and spotless with a walk-in shower. Andi provided quality toiletries and plenty of white, fluffy towels. We had a balcony with a table and chairs although the weather didn't allow us to make use of it. James, the chef, provided an excellent cooked breakfast, with plenty of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt and juices to choose from. Andi went out of her way to provide gluten-free options for me. We couldn't have asked for a better host, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back and recommend Alexander Lodge without hesitation.

A lovely break. James and Andi were excellent hosts. Breakfast lovely including a spot on poached egg! Room was very comfortable with some nice touches - own coffee machine. It is very close to the beach and is an ideal area to explore on a bike - we visited Mudeford and Hengistbury Head, very scenic. Southbourne itself has some lovely independent shops including it's own cheese shop! Thoroughly recommended!

We booked Alexander lodge for 2 nights To mix a little business with pleasure. It was close to my training venue , close to the sea and many bars / restaurants. On Arrival we were greeted by the host and taken to our room, she even offered to make us a hot drink which I though was so kind and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble x The B&B is beautiful, it has a warm homely feel and our room was cosy with everything we needed including high quality shampoo and body wash. Breakfast was delicious and very organised with a pre order the night before. A great selection of fruit , cereal, yoghurts , juice etc which can then be followed by a cooked breakfast. Our breakfast was delicious. Thank you We will definitely return when I’m on business again . Louise Marshall xx
