The Westby Guest House is a quiet, relaxed and green friendly guesthouse, just a short 5 minute walk to the award winning sandy beaches of Boscombe & Bournemouth and providing a great base for exploring the New Forest and Jurassic Coast. Run by Duncan and his family, the rooms are all ensuite and newly refurbished to a high standard from 2016 onwards. We offer 5 bedrooms, with SuperKing, King, Double, Queen & Twin bed and a Family Suite with two bedrooms, one with bunk beds. The quality breakfast is served from 7.30-10am with an emphasis on responsible, locally sourced options (meat/vegan/gluten free etc), all served with Fairtrade coffee or tea. We promote green tourism thru our use of Ecotricity, bio-friendly cleaning products, recycling and waste management. The O2 Academy and Boscombe town centre are just round the corner too - offering an eclectic mix of cafes, bars and shops. Bournemouth centre is a short bus or taxi ride away, or you can choose to walk or cycle along the promenade. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.

A very big Thankyou for a lovely 4 night break at The Westby. Booked two rooms with a very generous 20% discount as I’m an NHS worker.
The whole guest house was clean, tidy, and welcoming as was our friendly host Duncan. Lots of advice about places to visit and engaging chat.
Tea and coffee in our rooms, hairdryer, towels, extra duvets etc if required, Lush bath products and tv.
Nice to see recycling buckets outside rooms for our rubbish and low energy lights and green products used throughout the guesthouse.
We were pleased to have the option of cooked or continental breakfast each day with unlimited fresh drinks and cereals.
Great to be able to hire beach bags with windbreak, beach games, bucket and spade etc for a reasonable £5
Easy 5/10 minute walk to Boscombe seafront or town centre and a convenience store at the end of the road.
Would recommend and return to this pleasant guest house any time.

Duncan was very welcoming when we arrived Friday afternoon. Beds were very comfy and had a very good sized room. Only had a couple of issues but weren't too much bother, there was a beeping during early hours Saturday morning which I didn't hear but my mum did and we were awoken early due to the sun rising early and having only blinds but didn't hear the beeping again. Good choice of food for breakfast including a 6 item breakfast or continental, you could have asked for extra toast or tea/coffee if you wanted it. They offer a 10 item breakfast for a £5 charge which is reasonably priced. Fruit juices, milk, cereals and jam (some homemade) all available too. Very good location a few hundred metres away from Boscombe town with many shops and very close to Boscombe beach which was much less busy than Bournemouth beach.

Would definitely recommend booking restaurants and pubs ahead to avoid disappointment. There is a Harvester next to Boscombe pier which we had dinner at Saturday evening which was very nice.

We got a couple of taxis during our stay, we used the company The Westby has business cards for by their front door, taxis always came very quickly and reasonably priced. Tried to order Ubers a few times but would never connect to a driver so used the taxi company instead and the business card offers a 10% discount too.

Thank you Duncan, our stay was really enjoyable and will hopefully return for another stay.

Thanks so much for spending the time writing such an extensive review 846charleyh, really appreciated. I can solve the beep mystery I think :) My CO2 alarm needed batteries replacing and I heard it when I came down to cook breakfast and assumed it had just started! It was 2 floors below you, so your mum has excellent hearing - but apologies. We do mainly have blinds not curtains, so can be lighter in the mornings. Glad the rest of your stay went so well though - thankyou again.

We've just spent 2 nights at The Westby for a long weekend.

From start to finish, Duncan was helpful and welcoming, texting us to confirm arrival arrangements and making our booking in a simple experience.

We had a double ensuite room on the top floor of the beautiful house which was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything we needed and both slept very well without any disturbances.

We opted for the continental breakfast on both mornings which was delicious with options of yoghurt, cereals, toast, juices and fresh smoothies and quality coffee, with the added treat of freshly baked croissants and pan au chocolat and home made marmalade!

The Westby ethos of being eco-friendly is reflected in the methods and products used which added to the comfortable, calm feel to the place.

Goes without saying we highly recommened Duncans establishment and will definitely stay again.

First impressions mean a lot and as soon as I stepped into The Westby I was struck by how clean and bright everything looked. Duncan, the host was very friendly and helpful. My single room was small but had everything I needed apart from possibly a chair for which there was no room. The en suite shower room was clean with plenty of hot water and enough pressure on the shower to have a good shower. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. There was a fridge and microwave in the dining room and you were able to heat an evening meal if you wanted to.

We stayed at the Westby over bank holiday weekend. This guest house is lovely, spotless clean and the owner Duncan very welcoming and friendly. The set up regarding social distancing is great and fuss free. Breakfast was very nice with cooked breakfast & continental options as well as cereals, fruit, juices etc. You also have access to a fridge and microwave if needed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, towels were included and the offer of more if needed. Situated 5 minute walk from Boscombe beach and 5-10 minute drive to Bournemouth beach/pier. Very enjoyable would definitely recommend The Westby.

We stayed at the Westby for a long weekend. Duncan was
helpful & friendly host. The guest house is ideally situated in a quiet street 5 minutes to the town centre & 5 minutes from Boscombe pier & promenade. The Westby is spotlessly clean & the cooked breakfast was plentiful. Don't hesitate to book this guest house, you won't be disappointed.

Prior to our visit I asked Duncan for recommendations for places to eat & we booked Abduls Indian restaurant & Bournemouth Steak House. So glad we prebooked due to the current covid situation. Both eateries are highly recommended.

We stayed at Westby House for 1 week and Duncan allowed us to take over the whole house.
I have to say Duncan was very informative before our trip to the house and shared with us all the local knowledge that he has. He was there on arrival to meet us to go through everything.
We had a brilliant week spending time with family and exploring the local area which is lovely it’s a short 10 minute walk to the lovely Sandy beach which we managed to get on most days as the weather was beautiful.
The house is in a brilliant location you can walk into Bournemouth which realistically will take you 30 mins but it is a lovely coastal walk or you can catch the land train which runs every half hour.
Southbound, Poole, sandbanks and many more are within a short drive away.
I would definitely recommend this either as a b&b or if you are lucky enough the whole house.

Thanks Duncan we really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely clean & in a great location. Duncan was very friendly & gave us lots of great local information. Breakfast was lovely (just to big couldn't manage it all) Duncan made sure we had the plant based milk we asked for & was very welcoming. Would recommend this lovely place to anyone wanting a warm welcome & a home from home.

My friend and I stayed for one night as we were in the area to see a show. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The host was very communicative in the run up to our stay, advising us about parking etc. It's in a great location for Boscombe beach and centre. We stayed for breakfast the following morning and the host was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. He was knowledgeable about the local area and genuinely interested in his guests and ensuring they had everything they needed. Would definitely stay here again.

There is parking for 3 cars on the driveway for the 5 rooms. If not, then free street parking is available. I have never, even on the busiest Bank Holiday/Air Show weekend had to park more than 10 minutes away.... :)
