We took the front room for two days which has fantastic views through the opening double door/windows overlooking the bay. Room is very comfortable and clean with Tea/Coffee making facilities and a spacious bathroom. An impressive and varied breakfast is served in the library and the owner will gladly offer tips on areas of interest to visit. Access to the...

Finding Marren by night wasn't completely straightforward but that was because it was dark (our fault), not for want of instructions. Waking up the next morning and seeing the stunning view over the sea was an absolute treat. Peter and Wendy have created a stylish and homely B&B which really feels like a home away from home. The surroundings --...

For lovers of unspoilt natural beauty, the setting of Marren is second to none. It starts when you find yourself driving along an unfinished road on National Trust property and passing thorough a gate marked 'no cars' -- except for the privileged few. Fields and hedgerows leading down to the tranquil Ringstead Bay stretch before you. You begin to understand...

We stayed for a weekend at Marren. It was a littel hard to find and the track was pretty rough but we had been warned. The house and gardens are lovely and our room was cozy and a had a great view right from the bed. The B&B is well located for walking the Coast Path. The hosts and other...

This is a great place to stay if you want to walk the lovely Dorset coast. We stayed for two days and were able to walk each day from the house without needing to take the car. Peter gave us OS maps of the area, and others, which were really helpful and much appreciated. You do need to take the...

We stayed at Marren over Easter with our two dogs, who had their own spot in the boot room to sleep. Breakfast was amazing, particularly the home made bread! Rooms were large and comfortable, ours had its own access door to the outside which was particularly useful with the dogs. We were very well looked after, provided with tips and...

As other reviewers have said the challenging drive is worth it and you get stunning views along the way. The hosts Peter and Wendy really make you feel at home. We went for the smaller room with the view of the bay which was wonderful. We were visiting family for 3 days so not able to explore gardens or enjoy...

What a beautiful location, fabulous views, lovely hosts, quiet nights, would stay again. You will need a car as the house is tucked away, there is a pleasant short walk down to the pebble beach though from the house, and a short walk along the beach to a cafe.

Beautifully furnished rooms, very welcoming hosts and a wonderful location make Marren a very special B&B. Breakfast was perfect with extra toast arriving before we even noticed we needed more. It was a pleasure to chat to Wendy & Peter with their excellent local knowledge available if you need it. The garden is wonderfully tranquil - perfect for taking in...

Just back from a wonderful two night stay at Marren. Peter & Wendy are wonderful hosts and get the balance of help and conversation with leaving you to enjoy their home spot on. Bed, food, views and location all excellent. Quiet beach of Ringstead just a short walk away. Lovely to head up to the top of the gardens to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Overlooking the sea between Lulworth Cove and Weymouth is a house called Marren. Surrounded by National Trust land, Marren is set in a large garden on a steep slope with spectacular views of Portland and Weymouth Bay. The only sounds are of waves breaking and the cries of buzzards. We are seven minutes from a secluded beach to the east of Ringstead and five minutes from the Dorset Coastal Path which leads to Bats Head, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. It is the perfect place for walking, seeing wildlife and breathtaking views of sea and cliffs. We have two en-suite double bedrooms. The larger one has its own entrance from the garden and a super kingsize bed; the smaller one has a spectacular view of Portland and Weymouth Bay through french windows from the bed. We can recommend a selection of excellent restaurants and pubs for eating out, plus help with local maps and directions for walks. ... more   less

“For a stunning view of the sea and Portland Bill go for the 'front' bedroom. The 'back' bedroom is larger and even better appointed but what it lacks in sea view is made up for by a sunny secluded garden area to relax in. We didn't see the single room.”
