Booked 2 months in advance and was given all the details for payment breakfast etc. E.g they only accept cash etc. I was told to phone a day in advance to reconfirm booking, which I did think was strange. When I did phone I was told that all rooms were full and I had no booking. Terrible and now nowhere...

This is an unusual place to stay for several reasons - all good! The decor is is a reflection of a range of eclectic interests of Mark the owner, ranging from musical instruments to embroidered wall hangings. The beds was exceptionally comfortable and the bedroom similarly decorated with chintz and nick-knacks. Full choice of breakfast items with Mark cooking a...

A large imposing house in a prime location. Every amenity is close at hand. Mark, the owner is a great guy. Chatty and full of knowledge. A great taste in music too!! The room was very spacious and clean with lots of character. The bathroom was the same. The breakfast was excellent although we opted for Continental. This is a...

We got off to a bad start as it took me almost an hour and several are puts to find the place. There was no welcome, I was told where the key was hidden and which was my room. I met Mark as I left. There is the basis of a lovely place here but it's in desperate need of...

Good quality rooms, great friendly service and a brilliant cooked breakfast. Although Beggars Knap is in a built up area it was still quiet and being where it is there are a plethora of places to eat and Mark the owner is more than happy to advise on good quality places to visit, eat and enjoy. This man knows his...

In a perfect location being close to the town centre, Brewers Square, Market (when on) and both railway stations the Beggars Knap was an enjoyable stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful. My room was a good size with all the appropriate facilities. A slight niggle is that the sink in the bathroom is a little small and it...

Stopped off here on the way back from Cornwall for a night. Four poster room is so cool - large and fabulously furnished. The whole place is very quirky with a slightly goth feel - we loved it. Comfy bed so had a good night's sleep and breakfast in a very interesting breakfast room. Host is very friendly - would...

Owner very welcoming and friendly. Very comfortable bed, room was very clean, nice hot shower/bath. We stayed in the four poster bed room, very quiet even though it faces the street. The house itself is decorated in antiques which added to the charm. Situated very close to places to eat and a cinema too. Also a short drive away from...

In advance of arriving the customer service was excellent, great personable communication to assist with arrival times and directions. Near the station (5min walk) and near town (2min to high st). On arrival, stunned by the grandness of the property, like Victorian grandeur. My room (first floor on the right) was simply luxurious, huge bed, lush decor and basic tea/coffe...

We had a lovely 3 night stay in the four poster bedroom at this lovely guest house in the centre of Dorchester. Very spacious room, lovely and comfortable in a house full of character and grandeur of times past ... and speaking of character, Mark was a charming host, ready with advice on places to eat within 5 minute walk...
