Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Kings Arms never fails to deliver. Nice rooms, great food and friendly staff. The beers not bad either.

We were eleven friends staying for three nights. It was a most enjoyable stay in comfortable rooms. The breakfast and dinner menus were comprehensive. We had a most enjoyable stay.

We have stayed a couple of times before, booking the ‘next up’ room each time. So this time we booked the top, ‘plush’ room…..£238 inc breakfast. I had previously checked in on line, so parking and check in easy. Our room was 102. A lobby area contained our wardrobe (with fan, iron/ironing board) and refreshment area. Plenty of choice of teas. Nespresso for coffee. Fresh milk, cold water and biscotti included. Well stocked mini bar. Our bedroom was large but uninspiring. Grey. Large bathtub in the bay window. Large, comfortable clean bed. Sofa tucked in corner. Bathroom large and functional. So….. one window would not close. Paint peeling in bathroom. Lack of ‘character.’ Dusty, very dusty. No bin in bedroom. Noisy from road and the hotel itself. Room is under the stairs and a room above with wooden floors. (Ear plugs are on offer in the bathroom.) Toiletries are nice but you are advised to not remove them, or you will be charged. I guess for £238 we got a large room but no frills. Breakfast was delicious! Staff are great! Just not quite worth the price.

Room Tip: 102 is large but lacks character and comfort.

This is a great hotel. Lots of the reviews talk about friendly helpful staff and they are absolutely right. The room was lovely. The building is interesting. We had cocktails and a meal in the bar and both were tasty. We're looking at where these hotels are so we can visit different places and know we'll be staying somewhere nice

This was a one night break. The town doesn’t offer a huge amount but the hotel is lovely and cosy. Great bar with an open fire, a welcoming restaurant serving delicious food and the service was excellent. Would recommend for a night or two

Have been meaning to go for a meal for ages having enjoyed a drink in the bar in the winter. Lovely atmosphere and tables nicely spaced. Food good, husband very happy with his chicken pie. Main reason for 5 stars is the staff. We spoke to 4 members of staff and from front of house to serving staff they were all excellent. Friendly and helpful. One of our party has a peanut allergy and front of house told us that the restaurant is nut free which is brilliant ( though the menu does mention nuts as a something they use so not quite sure which is right) The server mentioned the pie might take longer than the other choices so we were pre warned but it didn’t seem a long wait for our mains. Sticky toffee pudding-lovely large portion and delicious. Looking forward to returning-the afternoon teas that we saw looked lovely so that’s next on the list!

We had the snug room which although small was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Very clean and nicely decorated. The food was really good. My only criticism of the excellent breakfast was that there was no yoghurt available. The staff were all very helpful and professional. We will happily stay here again when we next visit Dorchester

The Kings Arms Inn, Dorchester is a beautifully renovated old pub. The main floor bar, lounge, and restaurant are relaxed, comfortable, clean, and well-staffed. The staff go above and beyond and seem genuinely happy to serve. The food is excellent. No request is too much trouble. We had the smallest of the rooms, 2nd floor, at the very back. Loved it.

Oldie worldie hotel right in the centre of Dorchester, beautifully renovated to a high standard, all staff were nice and friendly, the food was superb very fresh and nicely presented. Good value for money, our room was snug and quiet, clean and comfy. The parking is free and very busy some spaces are difficult to get into. Will definitely recommend to anyone who needs to stay in Dorchester, the hotel is next door to the Museum and Art Gallery and opposite the main shopping street.
