Got off the train, crossed the platform and the hotel was right there. Clean and fresh, the hotel was having difficulties with its computer system when we arrived but there was no delay in our check in as the team had pre prepared everything for arriving guests. If you dont want to eat in the restaurant there are several restaurants a very short walk from the front door including Zizzi.
Bedrooms were clean, bed was very comfortable and there was zero sound outside the room once you were inside. The staff were lovely and so helpful. Particularly the ones first thing at breakfast who were more than happy to support managing food intolerance's and couldn't be more welcoming, lovely hot full english too, you could see the chef preparing it all in the background, this will definitely be my hotel of choice when I am next in Dorchester

The good bits: It's normal Premier Inn bedroom with a comfy bed and a desk. It's a convenient location for Dorchester town centre and restaurants and it's only 100m from the railway station. So far so good. Parking is restricted if you're travelling by car. There is a drop off point outside the door where you can drop your bags. If you're lucky you'll get a space in the underground car park round the corner for an extra £4 - worth it if there is space or else it's 300m to a nearby pay and display.
The room I had on the 4th floor had some issues, it obviously hadn't been painted properly (see photo) and the net curtain rod fell on me when I went to open the window. The air conditioning wasn't working, fortunately it wasn't a hot night and I opened the window and lived with the noise from the street and railway station.
The above is no reflection on the hard working and helpful staff who were doing their best during Covid restrictions.

Last visited this hotel in April 2017 with my family of 4 for a 1-night stay and most positive aspects still apply in term of it being a great location and excellent service from the overworked staff. There is still limited parking but public parking is nearby in the market. The convenient on-site restaurant was fully booked during COVID to maintain SD but this being a 4-night stay as a couple this time we went out and about and utilized the plentiful other eatery options (though a few have failed to reopen after lockdown). Nice quiet room and instant hot water for baths with plenty of towels but what wasn't made clear and I failed to pick up was that the room would not ben tidied, towels replaced or toilet rolls/coffee etc as a matter of course and I had to go request extra toilet rolls. This maybe COVID related but I didn't really understand what difference it made as to the notification of this as a new working method wasn't clear and to get extra toilet rolls was a hassle. I suggest you open a room everyone can visit to get these things rather than having to make individual requests. Check out was simple. No leaflets regarding local attractions but again COVID related. You have to wear a mask whilst in the public areas which was good. The 4 nights were secured in August for £155 which was great value.

This was our first trip away with our little boy who is nearly 18months old. The location of the hotel was great for getting to local shops and amenities. The check in staff were great and informative and the parking facilities were amazing. Even though the parking is limited, you are provided with an allocated spot for the duration of your stay for just £4 a night.
The room was child friendly with things placed on higher shelves and the little one loved running laps from door to windows. It was lovely and clean and large enough to house our pushchair as well as cot etc still with room to move around comfortably. Overall a very successful trip for us and we would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the very end of July and was presently surprised. The hotel had hand sanitizer when you came in (main entrance and car park entrance) and in the restaurant, markers for social distancing and one way system and screens in reception but it all felt very friendly. Every member of staff we spoke to was so friendly and approachable. Toby at breakfast was especially nice always speaking to the children asking how they slept and remembering small details from the day before and mentioning them (this wasn’t just to us he did this with everyone) the take away menu on an evening is VERY limited and doesn’t start until 6 which isn’t great when you have young children, we tried jt once and the food was nice but as I said due to not much choice and late start we didn’t do it again. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice even though it wasn’t a full breakfast menu. Took us 15/20 mins to get to Weymouth beach by car train station very close. Overall had a great stay and would definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our family break feel nice and safe

The Premier Inn is a relatively new hotel in an area being redeveloped on an old brewery site. Located by Dorchester South railway it is also a short walk into town.

The bedroom was of good size and comfortable. Tea, coffee available but we had to ask for supplies as the rooms were not being cleaned each day unless specifically requested due yo thr covid situation. We found all staff polite and helpful.

Parking was secure at £4 A day in an underground carpark.

The hotel provided us with a takeaway menu which presumably can be eaten in your room. After a lot of searching we found the Royal Oak was operating on a non booking basis and we had a couple of cheap if basic meals there. For everywhere else bookings were required.

We found it an excellent base to tour Dorset and would strongly recommend it.

We stayed at the beginning of August and also at the beginning of September both stay were not good. The first stay we could not get the keycard to work (room 306), went back to the reception, they re-scanned the keycard, assured us it was ok. Back upstairs, tried touching it to the lock in various ways to no avail, the door remained locked. By the time we got back downstairs we found reception busy and we were running out of time to be elsewhere so I had to return the keycard in the dropbox, I explained the situation to another member of staff (Toby), he assured me it would be sorted shortly for when we returned a few hours later. I then had to trudge off to the car with all our bags in the rain to lock them back in the boot. Obviously, the door did not work when we got back! We got let in the room and told that they'd get the lock sorted out. We started to unpack and get the kids settled, and clean all the touch points etc with disinfectant wipes. We'd been in the room for around 45 minutes and was just about finished cleaning and Toby returned with a handful of keycards, none worked apart from his master staff keycard. We then had to move to another room which he had to quickly make ready, (room 309). We then went through the cleaning and unpacking routine again. Toby acknowledged this was not good and offered us a free breakfast for the family on our next stay (which was in a month, more or less). Fast forward to the beginning of September and we arrive late afternoon, we mentioned what had happened before and that Toby had offered to refund our breakfast. We were told that was not possible and that there was also only one spot left for breakfast at 10:15am (not great with two small kids and besides we'd have to leave before then. We had never been told it was a requirement to book our breakfast either. We asked to see a manager and we Lois the deputy came out to talk with us. Firstly she miraculously found we could have a breakfast booking at 07:30, great. She was not happy about our previous booking and told us she could not honour what Toby had promised and we should have put in a complaint to guest relations (we had not been told to do this before). Lois said she would make a note on our account so we could still make the complaint despite the delay in timeframe. We then went up to our room, it was disgusting. When we went around to clean we found an unflushed toilet, faeces on the toilet, toothpaste on the tiles next to sink, dirty bedside unit and other areas less than clean. We wiped everything with detail wipes ourselves and took a few pics which we showed to the deputy manager who again had to apologise and asked us to email her the pics. We have so far heard nothing from Premier Inn guest relations, tomorrow will be 14 days which they state they will respond within on their contact page. I won't hold my breath although I'd recommend you do perhaps if you're staying with them during the Covid pandemic.

We decided quite late to break our journey from Cornwall to Southampton and managed (on the day!) to find a room at the Dorchester Premier Inn. I'm so glad we did.

Reception was friendly and fun (the receptionist had only recently joined but you'd never have known it) and all our details were accurate.

Covid19 procedures were explained and the one way system, the lifts and the room were all exceptionally clean and bright. Not sure how old the hotel is but it could have been opened yesterday from the cleanliness angle.

We ate out at the nearby Côte and returned for a really good night's sleep.

Breakfast was in the hotel and a one-way system was in operation (in from one of the lifts and out down a few steps). Again, reception and service at the desk and at table was friendly and the tables were clean.

Check out was easy (drop the key card in a clear plastic container) and drive away.

I've always loved Premier Inns (and Travel Inn before the name change) but I think they've moved up a gear or two since Covid19.

The hotel is set in a very central location as it is right beside Brewery Square.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and the room was clean though a bit 'tired'. The cups had not been washed from the usage of the previous guest in the room but the person on reception immediately gave me two clean mugs from the dish washer.
A disturbed night's sleep because of huge and frightening arguments in the room close by. This was not the fault of the hotel and they responded to the concerns of the other guests quite quickly. Not all hotels will do this so it is to be appreciated.
No meals served in the evenings now and from what some other reviewers have said, the breakfast can be a bit of a hit and miss meal so I didn't bother.
Would I stay here again? If the price were right, yes, I probably would because of the convenience of the location and the friendliness of the staff.

We stayed in this hotel for one night when we took a family trip to the beach during Easter school holidays. We were aware there was no on site car park so we were expecting to have to park elsewhere. The car park for the train station was nearest so we parked there. Less than £4 for the whole day so it wasn’t a bad price. From there, it was a 2 minute walk (with two young children and our belongings) to the hotel.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a member of staff who was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. He directed us to our room which was clean and more spacious than I expected given the price. The television was a good size and we were provided with ample tea’s, coffee’s, milk and sugar. The bathroom contained a bath with a shower over it, a toilet and a sink. These, again, were all perfectly clean.

Around the hotel, there are all the amenities you need; restaurants, cafes, the train station and even the cinema, all within easy walking distance. Plus the beach is only a short drive away.

We slept well, not disturbed by any noise from the trains, the surrounds or within the hotel. The bed was comfy and a good size. The children said their beds were comfy too and the didn’t wake during the night either.

We had paid for breakfast, the children eating free as the offer was one child eats free per adult and we had paid for two adults so went for this at 8am. The eating area was clean and spacious with plenty of seating. The food was plentiful and staff were more than accommodating with my allergy. A full allergy menu was provided so I could browse and find out what I could and couldn’t have. The continental aspect of the breakfast provided ample choice. The cooked breakfast was all we wanted; sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushroom, tomato and hash browns. It was all cooked well and tasted good.

I would recommend staying at Premier Inn Dorchester and we will most certainly be returning again soon.
