Treat yourself to a short break in the beautiful, historic and quintessentially English town of Sherborne, Dorset. Sherborne is known for its beautiful Abbey, exclusive schools and its two Castles, the more recent one built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. The Eastbury Hotel is an “award winning” luxury hotel in the centre of town, within walking distance of the Abbey and main shopping street. Experience the ambience of our peaceful one acre walled garden and perhaps indulge a game of croquet, table tennis or garden chess. Perhaps book a stay in our brand new "Victorian Garden Potting Shed Suites" located in our walled garden or make use of our new spa facilities including relaxing spa treatments using the exclusive GAIA product range. Make sure you find time to take a visit the picturesque local Dorset Countryside & nearby Jurassic Coastline. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Our 4th stay in one of The Eastbury's Victorian Potting Sheds was just as we expected. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the accommodation was scrupulously clean and of high quality. Notably, a large and comfortable bed (and pillows) and the best shower of any hotel I've stayed at.

Hotel's Favourite
We booked a one night stay for a bit of a getaway at the start of the bank holiday, and first came across The Eastbury as we were looking for a dog friendly hotel and facilities. That said, even if we didn’t have a dog we would have wanted to come and stay, and the reality of staying here was just as we hoped. Stunning surroundings, really lovely professional and friendly staff, and a beautiful room - we stayed in one of the potting sheds and what a treat that was! All in all we felt very looked after and can’t wait to return. Oh, and I can’t leave my review without mentioning the spa, tucked away and offering a calming, quiet experience away from the usual hustle and bustle of spas nowadays. I had a manicure appointment with Molly, and had a really good experience! She went above and beyond, and we had a great laugh and lots of great conversation along the way - I only wish I could have visited the spa for another appointment but sadly we only had the one night stay! Thanks everyone at The Eastbury, we had the best time!

We stayed in Elder room for 2 nights in Feb 2024. We were in town for a close friend's wedding so we did not spend an much time in the room or hotel. There were some very nice aspects to our stay including a lovely breakfast, friendly staff, nice crisp linen and a great location. However there were some aspects that could benefit from improvement: 1. The bed in our room was very soft, I found it hard to sleep on such a soft bed, it was uncomfortable and I was woken up every time my husband moved. 2. The hairdryer was plugged in through the back of the top dressing table drawer. This would be fine except the cord was so short that I had to kneel on the floor for it to reach my head and I could not look in the mirror to see what I was doing. As I was attending a wedding, drying my hair was very important. 3. There were only two sockets in the entire room and these were above the dressing table. There was no ability to charge phones at the bedside and I was constantly unplugging and replugging in items. 4. The bathroom was dated and tired. It had a shower over the bath and the bath panel was water damaged and swollen. The tiny towel rail was right next to the door and you could not close the bathroom door when it had towels on it. Worst of all was the terrible water pressure. I tried to have a bath one morning but gave up as the bath just took too long to fill. Having a shower was also a very slow process. 5. There was a faint smell of smoke in the room. My husband has asthma and is very sensitive. 6. I tried to use the iron in the room to iron my dress for the wedding. I had already ironed it before leaving home but it had some creases from being packed in a bag for travel. The ironing board was very flimsy. Most concerning was that the iron when put on low was very hot. Without noticing this I touched it to my dress and it damaged my brand new dress. Luckily I moved it away very fast and the bold pattern on the dress concealed the slight burn mark but the dress was permanently damaged before it had even been worn. I would have hung the dress in the bathroom to steam whilst showering rather than ironing it but all the hangers were the type without heads so that was not possible. Overall the experience could have been better.

Second stay and it didn’t disappoint - beautifully peaceful in Tamarix, for two nights and loved every minute. We will come back to our happy place!! We did have an issue with no hot water but I let the staff know and it was sorted very quickly. Sherborne is a lovely place and well worth a visit. Also went to Lyme Regis on the drive down and Weymouth on the second day. Really enjoyed Lyme Regis on a wet day. Weymouth won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but really nice around the port.

This isn't the first time I've been to this glorious hotel. Unfortunately they are no longer open for a lunchtime service but we had an afternoon tea instead. Served by Sam and Jaz, definitely would go again. I hope to see a lunch service soon.

I booked a Gaia Bespoke Massage with Lucy (Fri 22 Dec) in the cosy spa. Lucy asked if there were any specific areas I wanted her to concentrate on, which I had. Lucy spent a goodly amount of time on the specific spots and I left feeling incredibly calm and tranquil. Thank you Lucy for the excellent treatment - I will be back again, and thoroughly recommend a visit to the Eastbury Spa to anybody considering it.

This is an exceptional & elegant traditional hotel. From the time I made my reservation to checking out the customer service was top rate. I was attending a family funeral in Yeovil. The family residence is located in Sherborne & they recommended I stayed here. The room, Kingscup, was warm, clean & luxurious. The bed was so comfortable with loads of pillows! I must mention, Gemma, the Manager, who went beyond the call of duty, when i had a medical issue & needed A&E! Together with Lydia & Amaldene, who were all receptive to personal needs & very friendly. The hotel is in the process of changing to new management in December. The breakfasts were delicious & beautifully catered, however, in the evening it was necessary to select & eat at local restaurants. I would recommend the ‘Plume of Feathers’ opposite the Cathedral. ‘Tambolinos’ is also another good Italian eating house. All together the staff are very kind & welcoming & the accommodation & location is perfect for getting into Sherborne. Without hesitation I highly recommend the Eastbury Hotel.

This is definitely not a five star hotel. The room was in need of major refurbishment and lacked basic services such as a room safe and hand soap in the bathroom. You are told to use the in room Alexa to call reception, when I tried to do this it told me they were offline so I had to use my mobile phone to call reception. The restaurant is closed and staff leave the premises at 9pm telling you to use an emergency telephone number should you need to. Overall very disappointing for the price. It’s an overpriced B&B.

We had the best stay at The Eastbury Hotel. It truly was a joy from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. On arrival we noticed some lovely touches to the room such as the walking guide. We decided to follow one route around the castle and were so glad we did. We would highly recommend. Everything about our stay was perfect. The food, staff and facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa. Our potting shed was so cosy - you almost didn’t want to leave! We didn’t need it during our stay but it also had under floor heating. The grounds were kept beautifully and it was lovely just relaxing around the hotel. It was so peaceful. Be sure to book an afternoon tea. It was delicious. A very special place that we will look forward to visiting again.

The spa massage by Becks was the best I’ve had - we felt really relaxed & invigorated after our spa session - lovely tranquil setting / divine products - hot tub under the trees & chilled Prosecco what’s not to love.
