Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This campsite could be amazing, it is very big, but unfortunately it needs alot of improvement. The facilities are not very good, there was no heating in the toilet/shower room. With the campsite being open all year I would expect decent heated facilities for the price we paid per night. There are alot of residential caravans & statics which make the campsite look untidy. The pitches are very close to each other. The only good thing is the location, there is an easy walk into Swanage, but I would advise wearing Wellington boots as it was very muddy. We were booked in for 3 nights but only stayed for 2.

Great camp site to stay for trips out and to catch the steam train from the bridge. Swanage just a short walk which took 15 minutes, lovely walks and pubs near by especially the Royal Oak . The pub and restaurant on site is excellent and facilities including showers and toilets were cleaned regularly. Will definitely visit again

Great site, totally beautiful views. Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the relaxed feel. Short walk into Swanage. The food was very reasonable and great portions. Due to it being the blues festival we enjoyed sitting at the bar and enjoying the music. Will definitely be visiting again.

Abrupt greeting, on your way to your pitch you pass by about 40 scruffy statics and caravans which are clearly permanent homes. There are vehicles best described as scrap. It is basically a traveller site. The pitches are poorly maintained. I would strongly advise to avoid under any circumstances.

I have been camping for over 30 years and this is the worst campsite ever! Not enough toilets (3 ladies /1 men’s in the camping field for over 60 pitches. Cold, dirty showers and only 8 for 3 fields of tents and caravans. Dirty site, outdated site. Visited the bar once and was charged for drinks twice. (Which we got back). People living on site permanently, smoking weed, driving like idiots. Beautiful location, but awful place to stay. Avoid at all costs!

I go to Herston every September for a week in my camper van with my friend who goes in hers. I absolutely love the location…stunning views and a short walk into Swanage which has everything we need there. The main site as you drive in does look quite tired but once in the camping fields you can’t see any of that and it’s perfect. Staff are helpful and I always feel safe there. I think the weekends get extremely busy but as I only stay during the week I can only base my review on that and it’s always lovely and peaceful and I sleep like a log. Plenty of showers and toilets…could do with updating but they were clean this year and I’ve experienced far worse facilities in other campsites home and in Europe.
