We had a lovely weekend at The Grand Hotel. The staff were amazing; nothing was too much trouble. And it is always the staff who make a place. The hotel felt very covid-safe. I would recommend paying the extra for a sea view.
Booked a 2 night weekend stay in early December to surprise gf and propose! The staff were fantastic - they are very friendly and helpful. They put on a special table to celebrate our engagement on the second night and adapted brilliantly to a local power cut by still providing most of the menu and a candlelit dinner. The hotel is lovely, very traditional. It is COVID secure and takes it seriously. If you love walking or hiking, the hotel is in a great location. We walked the coastal path to Old Harry Rocks from the hotel and the views are magnificent. Also, Durlston Country park and the lighthouse are a short walk away. Be careful if it's a windy day! Corfe Castle is a short bus ride or taxi ride away and definitely worth a look. I booked a room with an inland view and bathtub (much needed after all the walking!) but you can still make the most of the views from the breakfast and dining rooms. The lift makes a bit of noise, so you may want to avoid a room next to the lift. Otherwise, the room had all the essentials. Warm room, comfortable bed. No complaints really - excellent hotel and staff. We'll be back!…
We have rarely been made so welcome in a hotel, not just from the lovely General Manager, Lindsay, but from all the staff throughout. Even when we were plunged into darkness by a local power cut, their emergency lighting was immediate and effective. They even still managed somehow to serve us dinner which was delicious. We upgraded to a sea view room which was well worth it being right on the front watching the waves rolling in. One slight word of warning, the car park is very small and we could not get a space on the first night.
Had a amazing stay at the Grand hotel. The staff were amazing. All so friendly and accommodating. Glorious sea view room. Very comfy. After a lovely sunny morning run had a delicious breakfast. All completely covid safe. Thanks. We will be back.
I booked at last minute a single room with a sea view at the last minute to be able to see my parents before the second lockdown. As a single lady it can be a little daunting staying in a hotel on your own and this is the 4th place I've stayed in Swanage to see my parents and was the most pleasurable, at what is a difficult time. The staff and the manager I met went over and above to make me feel very welcome and the personal touch was really appreciated. The bed was bigger than a normal single and was very comfortable as I understand the top floor was recently refurbished. I loved the sea view from there and being able to walk down steps through the garden to the seafront and along the boardwalk and the views were stunning. We had a great meal at dinner together and it felt very safe for my shielding parents. It was really appreciated at a difficult time and the staff really seemed to make the effort, considering they knew they would be shutting down again the next day for another 4 weeks. I also used the swimming pool and jacuzzi and you could book a time slot and I was the only one there at the time.…
