Absolutely criminal. Arrived with 80 people, left with 70. Utterly poisoned and nowhere for everyone to direct their faeces and vomit. Limited amount of loo roll, received some very desperate texts from someone who was open at both ends. Turns out, they were the lucky ones. Got bussed home and the rest of us who soldiered through on veggie options had to stay for 48 more horrendous hours in this jailhouse with questionable mattress stains. Sincerely, anon.
Beds not clean (black hair on the duvet cover and pillows). Mattress was sticky. Loo disgusting (there was faeces around the bowl). Food was 'ok' nothing special. Will not be going back there in a hurry.
Stayed here with walking group at beginning of May. On arrival was pleasantly surprised by the ample convenient on site parking. On entering the building , noted we had 'seaside house'. There were 15 adults in our group and my husband and I had twin room 15 on the ground floor. This was plainly furnished ( ikea wardrobe and chest of drawers, small bedside table, lamp, alarm clock and was basin in the corner. The window was large so good natural light and a view onto the communal garden space behind. Some of the other spaces looked a bit tired even though we were advised they recently had received a refurb. This was most apparent in the lounge where room was too small to accommodate the group and it was chilly. Sofas were also tired and uncomfy. There was a class room type room which we tried to use as a dining area as kitchen was too small for communal mealtimes. However the heating was broken in this room so it was freezing which made it unusable in real terms. There is a boot and drying room which is handy and for our group enough toilets and showers however I imagine is the house was full it would be a case of a morning queue. The kitchen was well stocked though and the labelled cupboards were so helpful! No dishwasher so it's old style washing up but we didn't mind that. Two fridges in the kitchen, one freezer and another fridge in lounge ( along with another sink and drainer which really could do with being taken out!) Two kettles, 2 microwaves and 2 four slice toasters with lots of cooking utensils, pans and trays. Location wise this is a strong point. Not far from Swanage beach ( walk down hill around 5 mins) and around 20 mins to the town). Would recommend the Crows Nest pub to eat in..good food reasonably priced and just around the corner. Other facilities on site were access to communal garden with BBQ to use; heated outdoor pool( but you had to pay extra for their lifeguard so bit expensive for our little group so not used), a range of sports equipment ( badminton, tennis etc). The property nest door was occupied by a school group so very early alarm calls when they were let our to play around at 7am but overall this didn't really bother us too much. There is also a little corner shop just up the hill past the church opposite and they had a good range of products. However they only take cash which is a bit old fashioned these days The place was clean and beds already made on arrival. I would say our beds were squeaky and you could feel the springs coming through so not a great nights sleep overall although a few bevvies helped us drift off..that and walking 10 to 12 miles! Overall this accommodation was what it was sold as. Group accommodation in a good location. Lots of great walks and rambles, close to the town for a bit more life but in a quiet location with good parking. …
The house is perfect for 17 friends wanting a reasonably priced place to stay in Swanage. We have stayed here several times before so knew exactly what to expect. The accommodation is basic, but very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and the staff very helpful. We hope to be able to stay again next year.
The house we stayed in was exactly what we hoped for. It was my son's 21st birthday and we had a lot of family down for the weekend. The communal areas were perfect for catching up before the party and there was plenty of space for everyone. The staff were all lovely and really looked after us. A perfect weekend, thank you very much!
