We booked a table for three for Christmas lunch. We didn't expect a five star experience as it's not that sort of place but we did have some expectations in terms of service and food that was at least edible. We were met by friendly staff upon arrival but once we sat down the problems began. As it was Christmas...

We walked from Firle to Alfriston as our half way point. A lovely pub with a roaring open fire. Dogs are allowed and petted, maybe given water and a treat if the right member of staff is on duty. Atmosphere in the pub is genuinely lovely, very friendly and relaxed. All the food that came out of the kitchen was...

We stayed overnight for dinner, bed and breakfast. Lovely spacious suite for a family of 4 with fabulous bedding!! The food was to a very high standard. My daughter and I have food allergies which was no problem for the helpful staff. Nothing was too much problem for any of the staff we met. Love love the cosy bar which...

My wife and baby son are in our element come the cold winter months. we seek out cozy places, with fires, good hearty food, lanterns etc. Luckily, Sussex is one of the best places you can be for this, and it doesn't get much better than Alfriston. the star inn delivers on everything cozy related, it's as Hygge as it...

We attended a wedding in October and stayed over as the bridal party had full occupancy of the hotel. Lovely venue, great wedding. The room was very modern and well equipped. My only complaint was the rattily single glazed windows throughout the night.

Dear weloveholidays09, We are very pleased that you enjoyed the wedding stay with us so much, and this is great news. Although we appreciate your frustration with the single glazed windows, we are bound by strict building controls as we are a Grade Two Star Listed building - which means extremely stringent controls on external looks and various other factors....

Dear Emma G, We are delighted and gratified that your stay with us ended up being so positive! I was on a special weekend where the organisers had negotiated a special rate at this four star accommodation. The way the hotel was...

Dear Warg60, All of your comments regarding your menu, the layout of the inn (including how our bar and seating areas are arranged and our furniture) was assessed by your Group Leader, Peter Jordan. Inn is very old with a new wing added housing modern(ish) bedrooms and adequate bathrooms. There is no lounge and all the dining facilities are up or down steps. Dear jivorich2, We will be reporting this wildly inaccurate review to Tripadvisor. You were part of a group outing organised by a leader with all aspects discussed. The disgusting behaviour of your group and appalling rudeness had already received a management response that means that none of your party will be permitted back to The Star Inn. This matter has...
