Detailed Reviews
One of the best hotels in Brighton, if you are looking for a hotel away from the seafront but still in the hustle and bustle of Brighton, than look no further!
Me and my fiancée stayed here from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th June, we were warmly welcomed and greeted by the reception team. We did have a couple of questions which the staff were more than happy to answer.
We stayed in room 275, this overlooks Jubilee Square, despite the events going on throughout the day in the square, these ended at around 10pm and we still had a nice undisturbed sleep. The room was clean and the minibar well stocked (I booked direct and got £10 minibar credit which was a nice treat), even though we used the credit, the outstanding amount left to pay from the additional items we had was reasonable.
There is parking underneath the hotel, there is a small fee for a parking but given the location of where the hotel is, this is a bonus and does mean you don’t need to park far away from the hotel. Thank you to the staff on the day I checked out, they extended my parking free of charge as I was planning on staying in Brighton for the day.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay, I can highly recommend this hotel, I would also ignore any negative reviews, as me and my fiancée have stayed at this hotel 4 times over the last 2 years and have never had an issue with the room or staff, we have stayed at other hotels in Brighton previously but none have compared to the service, cleanliness and convenience that My Brighton offers.
Thank you to all the team, we will be seeing you soon.

Perfect location, right in the middle of everything so no walk was too far, stayed on top floor and we couldn’t really hear outside noise, rooms are soundproof we never were disturbed. Cafe is nice, hotel breakfast is a choice of brunch meal, hot drink and a juice. Bar is small but also nice, older waiter was lovely, drinks can be pricey (8.20 for rum & coke, £10 for a cocktail)
Originally booked the Heaven suite as a treat. Could smell sick as soon as we opened the door, to then realise there was still residue on the side of the bed into the carpet. Was then moved to the superior double room which is very spacious, decent room. Offered free breakfast for the length of our stay (only had it on the last morning) and left us a bottle of Prosecco which was a nice touch. I don’t usually do this but I started noticing tiny things as I was already disappointed e.g. chips out of the wall, stains on the wall, chips out of the desk. This room only had blinds but light would still come through the sides of them which does personally bother me. The pillows are SOLID. We hardly got any sleep. Asked for softer pillows after the first night, was told they don’t know if they have any as they’re eco friendly and we were then given some that were pretty much the same once your head is on them. On the last night we got moved to the Carousel room. This was lovely. Really spacious. Had blinds, netting and blackout curtains. Saw a comment saying it’s right next to the lift so they heard it all night but we didn’t hear it at all. Pillows were way softer (why weren’t we offered these?) so we actually got some sleep. Just a shame it was the last night that we slept and had to be up for 7am for our train home. I’ve left with mixed feelings about our stay.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review of our hotel! Please accept my apologies for the issues you encountered in your first room. This was a complete oversight from us and one that you should not have had the miss fortune of experiencing. The hotel is due to undergo a complete refurbishment, of which the works were delayed due to the pandemic. All points raised will be addressed once the project is complete. Should you wish to stay with us again, please contact us directly, so that we can ensure you are looked after. Sincerely, Adam Rice General Manager

The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Brighton and the breakfast was decent situated in a cafe attached to the hotel. The staff were friendly and always happy to help. However the room was a bit of a let down, we stayed in the “standard double” which was in need of some updating but the main issue was the bed which was very small if you are tall or on the larger size you will struggle, I also found the open plan bathroom bizarre with a glass panel as a door on the toilet lacking any privacy, if you are planning a romantic weekend away I suggest you book somewhere else as everything can be seen and heard! I appreciate Covid is an issue and despite the hotel claiming sanitising of high traffic areas I didn’t see any signs of this and not having the room cleaned at all during our stay wasn’t too much of an issue but having to ask for toilet rolls, toiletries and towels constantly is a bit annoying and would of been nice to at least open a window for some fresh air but it didn’t have a handle and we faced a brick wall under a sort of glass roof anyway. There is also nowhere to put your cases or any wardrobes to hang clothes so we were literally living out of a suitcase. I guess paying the extra for a bigger better room is my recommendation but I don’t think you should have to do this for what I feel should come as standard especially when the room was expensive enough. If the hotel could update a few of these issues it would be a great place to stay and I imagine the decor would of been very funky and modern when it first opened.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review of our hotel! I'm sorry to read that you were not satisfied following your time with us. We have updated the bedroom information on the website to best meet guests expectations and hopefully see that people have a memorable experience with us for all the right reasons. There have needed to be a number of changes during the pandemic and these are monitored and adapted where possible. Amenities are now back in the bedrooms and replenished when needed. We'd welcome the chance to have you back, should you find yourself in the city again. Sincerely, Adam Rice General Manager

Good location but that is it !!
The staff was not friendly or helpful
When arriving in my room we had No robes or glasses for toothbrush.Phone reception and she questioned me on this
The room was decorated like something from Austin Powers
You has to upgrade to have a wardrobe ,kettle and shower in room rather than a wet room .
Our room key would not work so I went downstairs to reception to ask for my key to be reset to which the lady on reception again questioned me and came up to our room to try the key I had explained wouldn’t work to find it still would not work with her trying it !!
On the night before new year eve the bar closed at 11pm and we was unable to get a drink at 11.10pm from coming back from a meal out . Very disappointing in so many ways.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first - this is a city centre hotel, whilst the soundproofing is good within the rooms there is always going to be a bit of noise due to the location. For us this seemed to be around 6am when other businesses in the area were accepting deliveries, however, this was not ridiculously loud and was easily ignored after the first night. After years of hosting people, the hotel and the rooms are a little tired in places (scuffs and marks on walls, flooring worn in patches etc).
The location is excellent, right in the centre puts everything within striking distance of an easy walk. There are bars, restaurants, theatres and local attractions in every direction and within 10 mins.
The cost per night is also very good for the city, add into this the underground car park and you're absolutely on to a winning deal. Top tip - pre book your car parking space as it's very limited. We drive a large estate car and manoeuvring it was snug but easily managed.
The staff are simply excellent. Communication is easy, efficient and quickly acted upon. Most of the time anything we needed sorting out was already done and waiting for us without us needing to ask! We travelled with a young baby and they provided us a cot, bedding and baby bath in the room for free (kids under 2 stay for free).
We didn't eat in the hotel this time, preferring to enjoy the local independent restaurants, however from previous family recommendations the food here is excellent.
We will definitely be back for our next visit to the south coast!

The hotel is in a good location near the North Lanes, with many eateries near by.
I stayed at the weekend in a deluxe double and found the decor a bit 'try hard' and uniform. The bath robes weren't in the room, so we had to phone down to reception for them. They were coarse and rough to the touch! During the night an alarm sounded and despite calling reception twice (no answer on both occasions!) there was no information as to whether this was a false alarm or genuine. We went into the hallway, and were greeted by other bemused guests. After a period of time, the alarm stopped. Fair enough, these things happen, but the lack of information meant that a good nights sleep wasn't had! Had reception bothered to pick up the phone or furnish us with adequate information to rest assure us, the stay would have been more pleasant.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review of our hotel! I've passed your comments about the bathrobes to the housekeeping department to address and we'll ensure a repeat does not occur. I'm sorry to read that the fire alarm disturbed your night with us, unfortunatley this was activated by a guest not obeying hotel & government rules. During the night there is a smaller team working on the front desk than of a daytime and the staff were addressing the issue, whilst also trying to communicate to all in the building what had happened. A false alarm letter was put under all bedroom doors, so to not disturb guests further, should you have returned to sleep. We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Adam Rice General Manager

The hotel is totally central to the North Lanes and 15 mins walk to the city centre. Our room was large and very comfortable Very good nights sleep.
The only problem is the Indian restaurant next door ( Chilli Pickle) very over priced, tasteless and dreadful service. Plus I saw a waiter sneeze , then touch the computerised till and then serve food to a table without washing his hands. This is bad enough at anytime , but at the moment with Coronavirus it’s unforgivable and basic hygiene.

My husband and I have stayed in My Hotel before and had a very good experience, we tend to go for the suites on special occasions.
We stayed in the Bamboo Room. We had prepaid for our room, so I was a little shocked when we got to reception to be told we needed to pay, however this was rectified instantly which was brilliant with quick service from the manager.
The room however was ok,for £198 I was expecting a wow factor and sadly it wasn't there. The carpet was run down and had an iron stain on it! The leather on the bed base had marks on and the cupboards were marke, a refresh would benefit the rooms.
The bath was also slightly dissapointing as well, the plug which I assume works on suction kept coming out whenever I moved, so my bath was uncomfortable and I kept losing water. I was also slightly concerned that the blind right next to the bath didn't fully extend to the whole window, so hopefully nobody in the houses across saw me.. The monsoon shower however was lovely! The little bath toiletries were great, the bath salts and body scrub was a nice touch.
As many other people have commented, I do find the toilet doors a little strange, they don't allow much privacy.
We had breakfast in Small Batch downstairs and it was lovely, I had the Jubilee Breakfast and my husband had the pastry plate, which was great.
Overall the stay was pleasant and nice, just a few things could have taken it to the wow factor.

When we arrived we had high hopes as the outside of the hotel looked nice and was a good location. The lobby, bar and cafe are really nice but the rooms are a massive let down.
Our room was bare (only a bed, TV and one chair in the room) the carpets were stained and marked, the room itself was dusty, the bathroom was dirty and scuffed/worn, neither the heating or the TV worked properly and the beds are not comfortable.
We rang the front desk to see if anything could be done and we were greeted with a ''We don't care'' attitude. The manager was rude and refused to do anything to help to start with. After explaining that we had chosen this hotel because of the spec and location for my birthday celebrations they eventually agreed to a 10% refund. We have NOT been refunded at all.
Very disappointing, will not be staying again. My advise - book a Premier inn, you would get a better, cleaner and nicer hotel room for a lot less money.

The hotel was in a great location, it had a secure car park which is very hard to find in Brighton, the car park was £33 a night which to me is very expensive but there aren’t many other options in Brighton. Overall the staff were very helpful and friendly.
As we walked in we were greeted and informed there would be no room service due to covid which was understandable so anything we needed e.g more loo roles, toiletries we just needed to inform a member of staff. But as we got to the room we weren’t very impressed, the room was £300 for 3 nights and the only way I can describe it is that we were catfished, it was a standard double room no breakfast included with a hairdryer, a kettle, ironing board and a sliding wardrobe, a tv and some tea and coffees, the bed was comfortable but the carpets were filthy, full of stains I didn’t want to take my shoes off walking around, the desk had chips taken out of it and discolouration. There was no door for the bathroom and just a glass door for the toilet so little to no privacy, thankfully I was with my partner.
The toilet was standard but the floor for the bathroom felt like uni accommodation, the walls had scuffs and chips and marks all over them and just overall the upkeep and cleanliness of the room in my opinion was not at a good standard. Although we didn’t pay for anything special (it was just a standard room) I did think for the price we would have gotten better standards. As I said the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was a standard price but I won’t be staying here again.
