We had a lovely stay at Hotel Cavalaire. The location is fantastic - a few minutes walk from the pier. The breakfast was delicious and the room was warm and comfortable - we slept really well. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. It really felt as though the hotel was run with love. We will definitely return.

After a 2 year hiatus due to moving house, we finally got to return to the amazing Cavalaire! As usual, the welcome, accommodation, breakfast and ambience are all superb! Vesna & Jamal work tirelessly so that the details are thought through- never failing to deliver a warm and seemless guest experience - even when at capacity with two large groups also staying. Everyone is given equal attention and care. Great to see that this power-couple continue to enhance their guest house - upgrades in bathrooms, bedrooms, water softener throughout - always the freshest produce at breakfast and their environmentally conscience breakfast pre-order is sensible and sustainable. We look forward to another visit - and promise we won't leave it as long next time! Continued happiness and success to the Cavalaire! Thank you for a wonderful visit. Antony & David

Sparklingly clean rooms, delicious breakfasts, friendly, cosy, beautiful art on the walls, and just a few minutes walk from the beach. The proprietors Jamal and Vesna will give you a warm welcome, and go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. And...did I mention the breakfasts? Homemade bread, banana bread, fresh fruit, cooked breakfast...don't be tempted to skip breakfast... Vesna is a great cook. This is our third stay (you can tell we like it)…and we hope to go again next year.

What a lovely place to stay. Stayed for one night and chose due to location near the On the Beach concert and we were not disappointed. The rooms are a comfortable size with en-suite bathroom. Shower was powerful with lots of nice extras like shower caps etc. shower gel, soaps all smelt lovely. Lots of choice with tea and coffee all of a good quality and a great selection of biscuits if peckish. Rooms and hotel was spotlessly clean and everything like towels, bedding smelt fresh. The hotel is decorated bright and colourful and the artwork on the walls is very impressive. Hosts are very friendly and the breakfast is amazing. Highly recommend the Classic English Breakfast. Location is great. 5 mins walk to beachfront and 10 mins stroll into town which if you have not been to Brighton is fab. I would definitely stay here again and I hope we can get in there next year

We stayed here this weekend. After a long drive from Newcastle we arrived very tired. So a lovely welcome from Vesna lifted our mood. We were shown to our perfect room, check out the artwork on the way up the stairs. All created by the owner. Lots of nice little touches in the room. Pristine clean and beautifully decorated with a few quirky touches. Super powerful shower was much appreciated! Breakfast was AWESOME served with a smile and laughter from Vesna's husband. When we are next in Brighton we would stay here again without question. This is a beautiful bijoux hotel. Well worthy of its TripAdvisor rating. Thanks so much guys. Phil and Sharon

This hotel isn’t bad, but it’s nowhere near as good as it thinks it is. We had a standard room - room 6, & it was tiny, & had cobwebs. We certainly felt short changed at just under £150.00 a night. It certainly isn’t boutique/artistic. The ‘art’ all seems to be done by the owner/s, & it’s everywhere - it wasn’t to my liking. The +’s - breakfast was truly excellent tho’, but they only accept cash as payment. In this day & age REALLY? So a wander around to find cash JUST to pay for breakfast was an unnecessary faff. The carpets throughout the hotel are lumpy, & poorly fitted, also as you walked up the stairs past various rooms - there was highly visible large gaps under all the doors we passed - which didn’t make the rooms feel very private. I know this place doesn’t have staff other than the owners - but standing on the pavement for 20 minutes trying to gain access/check-in - with door bells etc being ignored/unheard was also not the best first impression. So - would I stay here again? No. To me it felt over-priced for what we actually got, & it’s not central enough for my liking. It’s honestly not a bad place, & the breakfast was truly exceptional. Our room was tiny & not worth the cost. I just expected a lot more for my £££’s, & after reading all the excellent reviews. Just my own personal opinion

Response from Cavalaire Hotel, Owner at Cavalaire Guest House
Responded 10 Oct 2023
Hallo from Cavalaire We thank you so much for the review and your opinion of our small family run hotel...We are grateful that you chose our place for your stay in Brighton even that it was not at all to your liking and all perfect as you expected...Since we took this business 5 years ago, we invested a fortune to make the place as good as we can for the best functioning of it...we did the new water and heating system, painted and decorated all from outside , changed some floors and carpets, we changed all the windows and doors and re-decorated all the place...if not everything is perfect is because it still needs to be done, just like the carpets and so on...we have just done some refurbishment of all the bathrooms, for more functionality ... you are right more things missing but we need to go careful as the business is not like it used to be.. As well if you saw the cobweb in your room, it is possible, but you found everything perfectly clean , staring from you bed to bathroom and this is the most important for us, all the rest is something that we do not as often being that it is so difficult to find the staff...we really take long time to do cleaning perfectly, as we really care that it should be done well and that is why we do it by ourselfs...we decorated our hotel with art, which of course may be subjective if it is to someone's liking, but this is art! You can like it or you can not!...anyhow it is a positive and nice way to communicate the feelings through it!... We really wish you a much better luck for your next stay, and that you find all to your liking... We do all what we do really with lots of love and we will still continue, but in general people do appreciate all , you can see with all the real reviews that are made by real people that stayed here and visited us... so all in all, the things can be done better and we are trying it really hard non stop! Many thanks Best wishes Vesna and Jamal, and Shade

My friend and I stayed here over the May bank holiday. Lovely warm welcome from Vesna. Made us feel very welcome from the start. Clean comfortable basement room. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Have to choose the day before as it's all cooked fresh. Sets you up for the day. Cooked and served by Jamal. Thank you for a lovely stay. Would thoroughly recomend a stay here.
