Arrived at the hotel receptionist was very blunt and wasn’t very nice ended up getting to the room and realised it wasn’t the room we had paid for I always check the bed, I pulled back the duvet to realise not only 1 hair but 6 or 7 of them a couple looking like pubes! I went to reception again and stated this and asked if the bed could be changed only to be told no they had no housekeeping on site and they could only change the duvet I said no because if the duvet has this on, the bed probably hasn’t been changed I said well can you move me and my partners room they did so reluctantly! The manager was called over and the receptionist said I’m having to change their room as I’m saying it is dirty the manager replies “well did you go and look for yourself” receptionist says Yh I have anyway the manager proceeds to say well you can put them in the room they have booked then and move another booking that should’ve been in that room to another! So clearly double booked rooms and downgraded us! The breakfast was ok slighty cold and when ordering the waitress asked what are you having and we ordered the full English and when I asked for my eggs runny she just walked away and other waiters/waitresses slamming cups on our table at breakfast let alone a waiter nearly spilling tea on my girlfriend all in all wouldnt book this hotel again especially when it was my birthday treat and leaving my girlfriend upset because she thought it was her fault and her thinking she had ruined my birthday surprise because of this!

Dear Kalvin, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at the hotel. We appreciate the opportunity to address your negative experience and we have thoroughly investigated the claims made in your review. Firstly, we apologise for the issues you faced with the room. Housekeeping thoroughly clean and inspect every room before occupancy, doing their best to ensure every room is cleaned to a high standard. We are unsure how this came to be, and we are sorry for the inconvenience that this caused. When housekeeping isn’t available, which is late evening when the problem was reported, it is Reception’s responsibility to check any reports that guests make. The Manager on shift asked the receptionist whether they had checked so that we had our own evidence to report when Housekeeping return. It also means that we know the extent of the issue. We will take steps to ensure that situations like this are thoroughly investigated in the future. Our receptionist was quick to action a room change, and please rest assured that we were not double booked. Apologies for any misunderstanding here, you were upgraded for free before check-in and due to the hotel being at full capacity, we were unable to maintain the upgrade and had to move you to the room that you had originally booked. Our apologies for this. We are sorry to hear that your breakfast was not up to the standard that you would expect. This is a surprise to us, as our breakfast staff are usually highly praised as you can see in other reviews and are an asset to our hotel. On busy days, as we were the dates of your stay, the restaurant can seem more shuffled than usual as our staff try to serve every guest quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. We encourage guests to report these concerns immediately to reception so that we can rectify for you. We value your loyalty as a returning guest, and we understand that experiences such as this may impact your decision to stay with us again. We would like to have the opportunity to rectify any mistakes and make the improvements that are necessary. Again, we apologise for any inconvenience you faced, and we hope that we can regain your trust in the future.

Turned up to discover there was an error with our booking (own fault) which I fully accept but the staff on the front desk weren’t exactly going out their way to help rectify the situation. Ended up rebooking the room, on the spot through a third party as this was the most viable solution. Some of the most memorable experiences in life happen when people show a bit of compassion and use common sense to resolve situations, rather than being militant and unadaptive. Anyway the room was average, could have done with a refresh but the price paid reflects this. The main issue was no hot water during the entire one night stay (tepid but not hot). The principal benefit of this place is its prime location in relation to all Brighton has to offer.

Dear Gazania, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us about your recent stay. We apologise for the difficulties you experienced at check-in, and we understand that this was an inconvenience for you. We are glad that you were able to resolve this, and we will be sure to investigate our approach to see how we could have handled this better. In relation to the condition of the room you were allocated, we are truly sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately, the weekend of your stay, we had an ongoing and complex issue with the hot water that caused the temperature to fluctuate. The issue has since been resolved, but it was unfortunate that this problem was not a quick fix and required around the clock maintenance over a couple of days. We apologise for the issues that you had with this. We value your custom, and please rest assured that we are taking all feedback seriously. We would be pleased to have the opportunity to regain your trust again in the future so that we can improve and grow. Once again, our apologies for the inconvenience that you faced, and we hope that you will give us a chance in the future.

I stayed for a weekend with my partner. The hotel was pretty standard British and needs a bit of decorating inside but it was a great hotel with very helpful staff and I would happily return for another stay. There’s an old lift that I didn’t quite trust and various odd design choices (like a shelf in the bathroom over the sink that you had to be careful not to hit your head on while washing your face). The breakfasts were perfect, amenities in the room were good, it’s an awesome location right on the beachfront, and staff were always pleasant. Hotel bar doesn’t have a great selection of ale/lager but to be fair it’s only a little bar. Parking is near to the hotel but it’s very tight and I’d recommend using the Regency Square car park instead which is a short walk away. We actually asked for a refund on our booked space with the hotel because we couldn’t park in the space allotted! They were very understanding and immediately refunded us. Staff were all very lovely and helpful and particular shout out to the blonde lady who served at breakfast. She was smiley and sunny and couldn’t be more helpful. Give her a raise!

My employer booked online, for my partner and I to stay one night. (My firm use this hotel many times in the past) After a very long journey and after taking ages to find a parking space (very difficult in Brighton) we went to book in. Despite the receptionist having a record of the booking, in our names, she refused to provide a room key unless we provided the visa card that was made for the booking. Obviously, we did not have my employer’s visa card. We showed proof of identity, but she still refused. So eventually had to make a new booking with my card, paying out of my own pocket. For £141 we got a small damp cold room in the basement with basic facilities, not value for money. Why couldn’t the receptionist use common sense and be reasonable. She claimed that I could be anyone trying to take the reservation. I have advised my employer not to use this hotel again!

🥳🍾We were visiting Brighton to see Micky Flanagan at The Centre. It was our first time at the KINGS HOTEL. It has a nice reception area and Bar area as you go in. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a downstairs room, 133, which was spotless and had a double and single bed. Parking is in next Street in set bays for Hotel. We had Breakfast in morning and was served by more friendly staff. A good experience and would definitely stay again! Paul & Katie.

We booked a sea view room, and we were not disappointed by the view, however the room was not as pleasing, we were initially given a lovely large room (305) but when we entered the room it was obvious that one one else was in the room. Went to reception who then have us room 508, to suggest this is a double is very over ambitious - at best it is a single, with a double bed, we had to move the furniture about so we can walk round the side of the bed to the bathroom- there was only room for one bedside cabinet, I had to put my bottle of water and glasses on the floor, there was no lamp or over bed light so if you wanted to read in bed you then had to get back out to turn the light off, the room was newly painted, you could still smell the paint and the radiator didn’t work so it was very cold in the morning. Felt very let down by the hotel having paid so much for what looked like lovely large rooms, we had to put our bags on the window sill as there was no other space to put them which meant that our belongings were cold and damp in the morning as the windows were old and not wind proof. why on earth is this being used as a double, feel very let down by the kings hotel.

Dear Jmaryh, We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience you faced during your stay. Our goal is to ensure every guest has a pleasant and trouble-free stay with us. We noticed that you booked a side sea view room, and it's important to emphasise that all our rooms in our historic Victorian building possess distinctive features and benefits. For instance, room 305, classified as a side sea view, offers more spacious accommodations, yet it does not provide the same unobstructed sea view as room 508, which offers a full sea view, albeit in a somewhat smaller space. We deeply regret any misunderstanding or discomfort you may have encountered during your stay, and we genuinely hope that you would consider giving us another opportunity to host you in the future. As a gesture of our commitment to ensuring your satisfaction, we would like to extend an offer of a complimentary upgrade to a full sea view room on your next reservation of a standard double room. You can avail of this offer by booking directly with the hotel over the phone or via email.

This is one of the friendliest and most helpful hotels which we have stayed in. We stayed here earlier in the month with our dog and the positive experience encouraged us to stay again. My booking phone call with Cesar was efficient and friendly. On our first trip, the double and single rooms were basic but had everything that we needed. We booked inland rooms as you can soak in the view from the communal rooms downstairs. The beds were very comfortable. I then stayed here two nights with my mother. The twin room had everything that we needed and again the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was good and the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. We were able to book a parking space upon arrival. That is the only downside as you are not able to pre-book and when you are travelling a distance, this does concern you. That said, it is understandable in Brighton. Jaime was extremely helpful when an issue arose with the parking, this was unfortunate as our space had been taken but it was resolved as effectively as possible. The NCP car park is very close and has locked gates which is worth bearing in mind next time if we are unable to obtain a hotel space. The staff make this hotel a joy to stay in. Yes it is an historic building and there are signs of tiredness but this does not remove anything from the experience from booking to departing. All staff were friendly including the cleaners were visibly active in all areas of the hotel. Thank you and we will be back.
