Travellers' Choice
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My partner took me here on Valentine’s Day for a surprise dinner and we had a fabulous time. I had the beef bourguignon with mashed potato and he had a delicious steak. My starter of terrine came with huge slices of toasted bread and the chocolate mousse was probably the best I’ve had. The wine selection was very good and the atmosphere made for a very special evening.

Our second stay at a hotel Du Vin ( first being Bristol ) totally lived up to all expectations. From check in to check out all the staff are so friendly and welcoming.. Our room was perfect, the young chap behind the bar served us two of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever tasted ( and I’ve tasted quite a few 😉) We decided to dine in the restaurant because we had enjoyed our meal in Bristol so much and again experienced a wonderful evening with delicious food and cocktails.. Our severs Kim and Edward were so attentive and helpful.. Breakfast was delicious too.. All in all a absolutely top notch experience.. Recommended

Exceptional. Superb room and facilities. Everything was well cleaned. Excellent breakfast and for dinner of particular note was Toby’s attention to detail together with his obvious love and knowledge of wine. The whole experience felt personal. Thank you.

Situated in an Ideal location, close to shops and sea front. Even though an old building it didn’t smell ‘fusty’or feel draughty. Building well maintained. Stayed in a ‘classic’ room which was ina simple French style and very elegant. Exceptionally clean even behind role topped bath! Plenty of towels, extra pillows and even flannels Nice little touches like toilet roll end folded, chocolates and vanity kit. Excellent forceful shower in classy tiled surround . Water lovely and hot, non slip mats and French shampoo, conditioner and shower gel at bath, shower and sink (Could have had bubble bath instead by bath) . Unexpectedly had robes and slippers aswell! Lovely fresh linen, really comfortable bed, very quiet with no noise at all from windows or corridor. Room temperature set perfectly didn’t have to alter thermostat. Air conditioning a bit noisy but acceptable . Chairs could be more comfy. Need a bigger table /desk or an additional one as had to use it for tea making, coffee , possessions , lamp and as a vanity unit ! Bar area and restaurant beautifully decorated, nice ambience. Would love to come back on a summers evening as expect the outdoor areas will be beautiful to sit out in . We had the 5 course taster meal with wine in the Bistro which we couldn’t fault at all and was sensibly priced. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wines . Bar a bit pricey especially after service charge added! Parking in the Lanes car park was expensive £38. 50 overnight and not much information about where to park on website . We have a motorhome and come to Brighton often but if we ever come by car again we would definitely stay at the hotel du vin and highly recommend it to others

I recently stayed for one night at The Hotel du Vin in Brighton with my 2 daughters to celebrate a birthday. The room was very well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The shower was excellent as were the towels. L’Ocitanne products were provided throughout. All staff were very friendly and helpful, the reception staff, restaurant staff and cleaning staff. We did find it difficult to find the hotel as it has no parking and is accessed for drop offs down a limited access road. We loved Brighton and would stay again.

Third time here and we had another wonderful stay. This trip was to celebrate both of our birthdays and we were wished a happy birthday from both reception staff upon arrival and there was a small box of chocolates left in the room. We had upgraded to a deluxe room with a roll top bath. The Arundel room was large and comfortable however beware the bin lorries do use the side road to collect rubbish at all times of the night. This was the only reason I didn't give this review a five. The service and food in the restaurant were excellent and all the staff made us feel welcome and were attentive. We love the HDV brand and would recommend this property to couples looking for a boutique hotel experience in the heart of the city. Great shopping and dining in The Lanes. We also enjoyed visiting The Pavillion and loved seeing the murmuration of the starlings around the pier. We parked in The Lanes car park five minutes away, it's secure and convenient but not the cheapest. We will return.

We had an overnight stay in a deluxe room. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. Pillows & duvet were very good as well. We had drinks in the bar before going into the restaurant, there is an excellent choice of drinks at a fair price. We then had the Sunday lunch menu. The starter buffet is a great idea, the choice & food was very good. Our mains were very tasty also. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent. The service we received throughout our stay was faultless, reception, bar & the restaurant. Would totally recommend this hotel.

Booked dinner in the bistro and found service very good, Darcie our Retaurant server and the young lady in the bar were particularly welcoming which truly enhanced our evening. Our meals were very good and we would recommend that restaurant for anyone visiting Brighton, lovely lounge bar area which we really enjoyed both before and after our meals.

Well located, mostly clean, and very friendly and helpful staff. The Signature Suite was lovely and comfortable, with all the required essentials. I was called the night before I was due to arrive to tell me that the terrace of the was closed off several days earlier so I couldn’t use it, which was disappointing. The room had clumps of grey hair in one corner of it, so more attention needs to be given in cleaning it. There are no lifts, and the place can feel a bit like a maze so you need to be fit enough to climb three flights of stairs to get to the third floor if you want to stay in a decent suite.
