I am so disappointed with our stay we had at your hotel,I came on a Sunday dinner with my family and what to say service is terrible not great at all,our table was not clean and dirty member of staff seems to ignore us most of time,no special offers were explained no recommendation, and supplement on the menu that were not explained. I came many times and service was always very good, many new faces that I don't recognise,I live in the marina so don't think I will be coming back for dinner. And then a very expensive service charge,if the service is good I don't mind to pay it but absolutely not Great. The manager should train his staff on customer service and how to deliver a service that we customers expect and pay for. Will not be coming back, there are other few restaurants in marina were are better. The place look understaff and staff don't look happy not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Thanks mary

Dear stuartm169, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay with us at the Malmaison Brighton. I am disappointed to to read you have found your time with us to be below your expectations. We have a team of Duty Managers on shift each day to discuss any issues you may have with your stay and I would ask that you contact one of them via Reception to allow us resolve any issues you may have. The hotel has a contract in place to have our windows cleaned on a regular basis, though unfortunately being beside the sea, this can result in this work being undone quite quickly by the seagulls. All of our guest rooms have wardrobes. Our very popular Eco Clean optional service allows guests to opt out of having their room cleaned should they not wish to, helping the Environment and providing guests with a voucher for £7.50 to use in our Bar area as a thank you. This optional service is not mandated and requires guests to opt in to the service, I apologise if this was explained in any other manner. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Kind Regards, The Mal Brighton Team

This Malmaison is tired. The communal parts in particular look scrappy & worn. You enter at ground floor level & take a lift to Reception on Floor 2, the lift feels old & was covered in finger marks. What saves the hotel are the lovely views across the Marina, a very picturesque scene with all the boats anchored up, & particularly nice from the lounge/bar & restaurant. I booked a Club Room with Marina View in order to get maximum benefit from those waterfront vistas. It had a cute, sea facing balcony, but was otherwise fairly standard (though perfectly pleasant). Plus points included comfy bed & pillows, hot beverage making facilities & minibar (albeit empty). Downsides were being able to hear my neighbours’ TV through the walls. I did toy with giving a 3 (Average) rating as the hotel feels neglected & unloved…. but when weighing up the fairly modest room rates & the enviable location, I’d have to conclude that it’s still a pretty decent choice in Brighton.

Dear mrstraveller1, Thank you for sharing your experience at Malmaison. It's disheartening to hear that you found the hotel to be tired and somewhat neglected. We are continually making improvements to the hotel on a daily basis in line with guest feedback and we will ensure we take this into account for future works. We have recently invested in sense of arrival music, new carpeting to our second floor corridor and will shortly be upgrading our restaurants conservatory as part of ongoing works to improve our guests experience. However, we are glad to hear that the picturesque views across the Marina were a highlight of your stay. It's wonderful that you were able to enjoy the scenery from the lounge/bar and restaurant, and that your Club Room with Marina View offered a cute balcony to soak in the waterfront vistas. We understand your concerns about the noise from neighbouring rooms, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Despite the drawbacks you mentioned, we're pleased that you found the room amenities satisfactory and that you found value in the modest room rates, considering the hotel's enviable location in Brighton. We appreciate your balanced perspective, and we hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future. Warm regards, The Mal Brighton Team

Really lovely hotel, with Malmaison style. We selected a signature suite, Ibiza themed, mood lighting, very spacious, huge comfy bed and the biggest bath in the world! The balcony was perfect, had it not been raining and so windy, still the views over the marina would be wonderful on a sunny day, warching the boats, with a glass of wine! Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and not at all busy, perhaps due to the time of year. Parking is in the multi storey car park, go to level 6 and walk across the boardwalk. It's not the easiest to find the entrance mind. Long walk to the pier/town centre, so take the number 7 bus to the Old Steine / North Street. Absolutely stay again.

Not a great experience. Curious obsession with paying by credit not debit card …i don’t have credit card . This meant having to pay for room service at the bar before deliver to room. I guess they’ve had issues with non payment? Food : Room Service food awful Breakfast not terrible Room ok but too pricey for what it was . Not the cleanest hotel..Dinning room tables unclean. Overall wouldn’t go back

This was our third stay here, we have always loved the location as right on the seafront, took the offer of an upgrade as was my husbands birthday, however felt the standard room we had before was of better quality, the fridge in the upgraded room had the plug cut off? The chair under the tv was covered in stains and the bathroom looked like it needed a gd spring clean. The reception did remove the upgrade charge from my bill once I said this to them, so can’t fault their service with that regard.

Another valentines stay at malmaison, we really like this hotel. The marina view is lovely (shame the weather was so bad) from our room. The rooms are modern and comfortable, bed and pillows are comfy. Tea and coffee facilities in the room with chocolates and biscuits which are nice touches. Handy to have a mini fridge too. Will say the aircon kept turning off in the night which was annoying. The weather was really bad so you could hear the wind whipping outside even with the windows closed. The shower was quite mouldy and could do with the sealant being replaced. None of that impacted our stay but thought worth mentioning. Free car park is handy. Restaurants underneath the hotel on the boardwalk if you don’t fancy the hotel one. Would stay again

Hotel entrance a bit weird but inside v nice, staff really nice, room excellent, bed comfy. Had room service both nights which is why it's not 5/5. First night was 1.5hrs after order and only when I called to check on eta. Had free drinks due to an eco service where you forego the room clean which is a great idea. But drinks were on the bill. Room service second night missed off the cheese but somehow charged me for 2 drinks I didn't have nor order. Food was v v tasty though. Would stay again

2nd visit. The marina is easy to find and parking is free. We stayed in room 212 which is a small double. Chelsea was friendly and helpful when we checked in. Chelsea also helped me with a later check out over the phone. She makes us feel very welcome and is an asset to the hotel. We ate in the restaurant one night, good food and service. The room feedback is similar to before; 212 is smaller but has all you need. I really like that you have lots of plug sockets in convenient places. I would visit again.

Just come back and wouldn’t stay again. We booked a twin room and were at the back. It all looks tired, we booked this last year and the room we were given was an accessible room. The bathroom was awful, I felt like I was in a care home. Nothing like the photos. The disabled shower was very poor, was expecting something much nicer for what we paid. Mold on the window frames. £10 for an Uber into Brighton. Parking is good but wouldn’t go back. Much nicer places to stay for less money.
