Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for 1 night and would happily book here again! Firstly, I did my research and saw from each room description that some had shared toilet facilities which my husband and I didn't want so we deliberately booked a room with an ensuite bathroom (anyone complaining about shared facilities should read before they book!). Our room was clean and exactly what we expected for such a cheap price! The furniture and carpet were old, but the bed was made beautifully & the bathroom was clean and there was a kettle with coffee etc which was perfect. Other reviews complain about no parking included, again this is explained on the website so again, we did our research beforehand and knew our options. We managed to park right outside the hotel from 4pm until 9am for about £9.40...a bargain for Brighton!! (There is also parking at a underground car park nearby and at Buzz Bingo about a 10 min walk away). The location was perfect, a 10-20 min walk into the centre depending on where you're trying to get to. And finally the staff...the check in guy was smiling, polite, chatty, funny & helpful and the night porter was polite & helpful (I would never mark anyone down for not smiling at 1am 😄). We unfortunately lost our phone and they couldn't have been any more helpful, we really appreciated the effort they made to try and help us. All in all we would very happily recommend this place and stay again. Thank you if you read this!

Property's Favourite Review
Booked a last minute trip to Brighton and decided after several searches to book the Strawberry Fields and I’m glad I did. Location is ideal for the sea front and Central Pier, and for what Brighton has to offer. It is about a 20 minutes walk from the station and a short walk from several restaurants and bars in Kemptown. On arrival we rang the door bell and were quickly checked in and given the key to our room. I booked a twin room and was given room 13 which was up a few flights of stairs. Room was bright and airy and spotlessly clean. amenities in the room included Tea&Coffee and small glasses for water. Bathroom in this room was clean and functional but old fashioned. the shower and flooring itself looked in need of replacing. However the water pressure was fine and water was hot. I would definitely recommend and stay here again the next time I visit Brighton.

Don't go. The place is rude and not remotely as described. Complete hell hole. And the people working there are really awful. I can't explain enough how bad this place is. The nightporter who is russian is one of the most disgusting people I have ever met.

We were looking forward to our stay, the room needs some TLC, and areas could be cleaned much better. Pictures on website was not what we got. The base of the bed was broken so creaked when the person moved or turned over which was very annoying. Reported next morning, they had a look and said it was broken and would order another one. We weren't offered another room etc and they had vacancies as I looked later that night, so had to have another night there. Very disappointed with customer service paid £171.00 for 2 nights. It was not worth that at all.

Strawberry Fields is a lovely guesthouse to stay in right on the seafront. We stayed for three nights last week and we had a lovely sea view. The only downside would be that there is no fridge in the room, I would strongly recommend putting fridges in the rooms, so that guests can purchase drinks to consume of an evening / in the morning that aren't room temperature. Apart from this, we had no complaints and loved our stay!

Over priced, sub standard accommodation. The staff are incredibly rude and hands off. Not even a check out acknowledgment as we left. The room was very very small and had no en suite. The bed linen was not functional. Do not stay at this hotel - stay away !! I wouldn’t even give one star to this hotel but the website makes you.

We had a delightful stay at what must have been an old guest house in the hay day of Brighton. We had a room with a view of the sea and all that we needed. The staff were particularly helpful and they made our stay a very happy one. It was great value. Parking is hit or miss but can be found and we parked for 24 hours for $Aus 15

You couldn’t check in until 15:00hrs and when we eventually did, we were in a room on the top floor. The room was stupidly hot and unbearable. I asked on multiple times for a fan but the staff didn’t have any available. Rooms on the top floor usually get warm (heat rises) and thus more should be done to accommodate people staying here. Staff were friendly and location was incredible! Overall a decent stay.
