We stated here for a business trip in September. The spa facility was closed due to the Covid pandemic and therefore not mentioned in this review.

The rooms are comfortable there is a double bed, tv, tea and coffee making facilities and a large bathroom which has both bath and shower facilities. The shower is extremely powerful and comes with the multiple shower heads. There is no temperature control in the room which could be a problem in the winter.

There were a some cosmetic problems in the room mainly flaking wood veneer in the bathroom and kettle filled with.

We did have our evening meal in the hotel and found it rather disappointing, the food wasn’t amazing and there was a lack of vegan options for my colleague. The choice of vegan food was also disappointing at breakfast my colleague could only really have a fruit salad and toast.

Overall the hotel is clean and felt Covid safe, it has lovely grounds and comfortable beds.

We went because we wanted to be in the Battle area for a couple of nights as part of our staycation. The hotel was competitively priced, but not cheap - we paid extra for an executive room. The room was fine, but for the 'executive' level I thought it was a little short on accessories (robe, slippers, fridge).

The highlight of the hotel is the staff, who were wonderful - attentive, courteous, prepared to go the extra mile and always friendly. I couldn't fault the service we received.

The hotel is lovely but just feels a little frayed at the edges. If they could tidy up some of the flaky paint, loose conservatory blinds, faulty wardrobe lights etc then that would give a real lift to the place and add to sense of quality.

Breakfast was a good example of this - it was fine and there was plenty of it. But the ingredients lacked quality (cheap beans, stewed tea and coffee in flasks, chewy bacon, substandard veggie sausage).

I probably wouldn't go back again unless I needed to be in the area and work was paying!

Me and my partner booked a spa break for our anniversary and I have to say that Bannatyne didn’t let us down! The spa itself was lovely and we loved the outdoor jacuzzis. Inside is more like a leisure centre but all very clean and practical. The only thing that was missing was some more seating/lounge areas inside. Being November and in winter it’s cold so we didn’t really want to sit outside.

The hotel itself was stunning and the external grounds are beautiful. Check in was seemless and they gave us all the information we needed. Our room/suite was huge! The bed was really big and super comfy (We stayed in the superior double room) and the bathroom left nothing to be desired. Everything was so clean.

As part of our spa break we had a two
course meal booked and from other reviews we were dubious about the quality of the food, however we were definitely not disappointed. The service was lovely and the staff were so attentive throughout our meal, checking in on us and re-filling our wine glasses. The restaurant had a really nice atmosphere which was perfect for our anniversary! We did want steak for our main which they had run out of, however they immediately apologised and then offered us a free drink each, which was a nice touch. We ended up having the chicken and the pork under our servers recommendation, and they were both amazing! The kahlua creme brulee was lovely and the perfect way to end our meal :)

We sat in the bar area for a little while after which was a really nice area to sit and chill. Many thanks to our server (I didnt get his name) who actually brought my bag to me in the bar as I’d accidentally left it in the restaurant! He really did go the extra mile for us.

Breakfast was really good and a wide range of things you could have. My partner had the full english (buffet/help yourself style) whereas I had the eggs benedict which I ordered from the menu. There were also a wide selection of pastries, toast, cereals, fruits etc in the buffet part. I think there was definitely something for everyone.

Overall we had the best experience, and would recommend for anyone who wants an overnight getaway for a special occasion. We honestly couldnt find fault with the place.

The service and attention from the staff and cleanliness cannot be faulted. Unfortunately, that's not enough to make me want to stay again.

Room 5: First impressions are 'this is nice' until you look closer. The carpet is need of attention with lumps and bumps - nothing stretching wouldn't sort out.

The window frames are rotten and need urgent attention.

A grab rail is needed to get in to the shower in the deep bath. As it is now, very dangerous. The toilet feels like it's coming away from the wall and that's an accident waiting to happen. If you're shortsighted take a magnifying mirror. You will have to turn your body on an angle to get close enough to the mirror between the toilet and sink.

They have positioned the dressing table as far away from the ceiling light as possible. Simply swapping the dressing table with the luggage stand would solve this but no one thought that through. The beds are very soft as are the pillows so if you prefer a medium or firm bed you're not going to sleep well.

Room 5 is above a function room as we found out when we thought someone had set up a disco in our room. Fortunately for us, Covid restrictions meant it stopped at 10pm. Something to think about when restrictions are lifted.

Oh dear, the restaurant!! Starters of flatbreads and dips were very nice and my partner said the chocolate brownie was also very good. However, frozen fish and chips, not so much. When asked if I enjoyed the meal I was honest and said what I liked and that the fish and chips from a packet was not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. This was disputed and the waitress said she checked with the chef and was insistent it was fresh. I can cook and I also recognise frozen fish and chips when I see and taste it. It's not an experience I want to repeat. However, the silver lining was we discovered the Abbey Hotel and Squirrel Inn who serve outstanding fresh food (not from a packet) so they did us a favour.

The hotel is very clean and Covid precautions are in place. It's a shame about the rest of it because we're going to be fairly regular visitors to the area for a while visiting family but we won't stay here again.

First time back after the lockdown thought things had changed but got worse. Food coming out the kitchen very slowly and badly cooked. Staff had bad attitude left hungry refused to eat burn chips should shut the door and get it right before opening.

The hotel as a standalone entity is pretty good. Dinner was much better then expected based on varied reviews. Food was good quality and well cooked, and the wines were good. Breakfast offered buffet style or cooked to order pancakes, eggs etc. Overall the front of house & catering team do a great job.

The Health club was a bit of a disaster. Charging you a returnable £2.50 deposit to use towels is a joke. The treatments were fully booked so I we did not get a chance to experience that. The pool area has no loungers or even the space to relax, except for 3 cheap chairs. There is a larger seating area outside, which is not very useful in November, and the steam room and sauna were crowded. The hot pools outside was a nice touch though. I was a member of Bannatynes Gym for 5 years (until last year), and I was hoping to get more from a spa associated with a hotel, I was sadly disappointed.

My mum books me a spa break as my Christmas present from her and my dad every year. This is the second time we stayed at Bannatynes Hastings and we’ll defo go back.

I absolutely love a stay here. On arrival, we were upgraded to a huge, beautiful room. We had a lovely dinner downstairs in the restaurant and because I’m so fussy, the staff were very accommodating in allowing me to order from the more relaxed bar menu.

The beds are so comfortable and I had such a cosy nights sleep. I didn’t want to go home after such a relaxing, comfortable stay. They also have Elemis products in the bathroom which smell divine!

I’d say my only problem with this hotel was the breakfast as it wasn’t cooked to my liking despite me requesting crispy bacon, it come out barely cooked. But my mum said something and they took it away and grilled it longer.

It was a lovely stay and hopefully we will return early next year for another stay!

Fantastic weather showed the gardens/grounds off to their full beauty. Lots of space for outdoor relaxing/dinining/drinks. Dinner and Breakfast were included with our room as was very high quality food/presentation for the price we paid. Spa was busy but again has nice outdoor terrace with hot tubs and open early in the morning so you can swim before breakfast. All staff were friendly and helpful and room very clean with comfortable beds.

Nice hotel set in lovely grounds with a separate dedicated gym and adjoining golf course.

Whilst the building was nice with a few rough edges needing a lick of paint the service and cream tea was not up to an acceptable standard. The main dining room was comfortable with well spaced tables overlooking the rear grounds. But thats where it ends.

The limited and poor selection of sandwiches with very ordinary fillings were what might be served at home. They were far from dainty, more like door steps.
The choice of stodgy cakes were I think carrot cake, but had the taste and texture more like old fashioned bread pudding stuck to the plate!! The rest can only be described as chocolate and yet more stodgy chocolate. The only saving grace were the plain and fruit scones with nice clotted cream and Wilkins strawberry jams served in the usual hotel small jars. We only had tea, but that was weak. I had to ask for extra glasses and water. No milk was provided for the tea until I asked for it and even then only one small jug between four persons?
We had four glasses of champagne but no allowance was made for the included glass of prosecco with the cream tea which we didn't have.
So we had to query the final bill by asking for the manager, but to their credit this was quickly adjusted.
Overall my rating would be - could do much better.

Had a lovely couple of nights at this hotel earlier in the week. We arrived to extremely friendly staff, and all staff remained extremely friendly and helpful throughout. Room was very clean, shower was great, breakfast was also very good! As I booked through third party site I paid a little surcharge so that we could use the spa throughout the duration of our stay - completely worth it!

There are only two things which stopped me giving a full five starts:

1. We stayed right above the bar, and although the music in the bar isn't particularly loud, the bass and beat of every song penetrated the ceiling and through the bed, seems a bit silly to have music right underneath a bedroom. I imagine for some people it's no big deal but even though it stopped by 11:30, it did bother me very slightly.
2. Toilet didn't really flush very well!

But overall I would highly recommend!
