Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My friends and I stayed on the touring site in October in our campervans, we came down for the bonfire night in Hastings and we had a brilliant weekend! The park is well maintained, the toilets/showers were very clean, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming and they have a bar on site so we didn't have to keep wandering down to Hastings town! So Convenient! We will definitely be staying here again and will be recommending to all my family and friends! Good job Shearbarn, you really made it a special weekend!

Stayed shearbarn for 7 days. Had a fall in the lodge due to being stung by a wasp, tripped up and fell onto the fireplace my elbow went through the glass in the fireplace. I Thought had broken my arm and was cut from the glass. Not once did the manager come round to see if I was OK. A report form was filled out by an employee and the fire was removed due to being dangerous. Only when arrived home did I receive an email stating deposit was non refundable. I felt management very unsympathetic due to nature of accident.

We came to Hastings to visit family and managed to book an accessible lodge at very short notice. The Lodge was very well equipped, clean and tidy and disabled friendly. The staff from reception to bar and waiting staff were very friendly and polite. Bar and restaurant prices very reasonable with decent size portions. As for the park the views are stunning, you can see all the way round to Beachy Head at Eastbourne. At night we were able to see the stars and planets which we don’t often get to see living in a major city due to the light pollution! Hastings Old Town is not too far away with its fresh fish shops, art galleries, bars / cafes/ restaurants and independent shops- just a short hop in the car (5 mins) or approx 20 min walk away. We were very lucky as the weather was very good with sunshine the entire stay, which for October was a bonus. They have a pool onsite although we did not use it. Very pleased with our stay and plan on coming back again.

100% recommend staying at Shear Barn if you are looking for a weekend getaway! From the very beginning, the reception team were very helpful, answering any questions we had and made us feel very welcome. When we arrived at the lodge, we were taken aback by how stunning it was and how beautiful the views were. The lodge was impeccable and far exceeded our expectations. We had an allocated parking space next to the lodge which was amazing as other holiday parks do not always offer this. When we went up to the bar/restaurant, we were greeted by both the waitress and bar team which made us feel even more welcome. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the actual venue is well maintained and spacious. There is a swimming pool onsite (but we didn't get around to using) and we also noticed there was security on site too which was an added bonus. The site is perfectly situated near the town and seafront (only a short car drive away (5-10 mins) or if you feel like walking around 20-25 mins), but far enough away that you cannot hear any of the weekend nightlife. As the title says, this was the absolute perfect weekend getaway and we will 100% be staying again! Thank you to the Shear Barn Team for making us feel so welcome

The lodge me and my friends stayed in was beautiful. Lodge was clean and very nicely decorated. We had a hot tub on our balcony which was amazing. The views were absolutely beautiful could see the sun set over the sea and mountains. Very peaceful with no traffic noise. Highly recommend staying here.

We have recently returned from a few days with family members in our two motorhomes. Well what can l say. We last visited about 5 years ago, lovely site where we took our granddaughter, all l can say is l'm glad l didn't bring the grandchildren. we arrived to see that outside the summer holidays there were a lot of children on the site, coupled with the dogs running loose it became apparent quite quickly that there were several traveller families there. This was confirmed by the dog fights and ensuing slanging match between the women. On looking around the site it didn't take Einstein to work out there were loads of people living on the site, despite what the General Manager has said in previous reviews. The size of the gas bottles several people had would have destroyed Hastings had they exploded. then you saw all the commercial vehicles , not just white vans, tree felling and pick up trucks. Now to the details, the toilets were spotless in the morning but didn't last long, it appears they don't like flushing a toilet as you had to do that before you could use it. We took to taking our our loo roll as they were well stocked but you couldn't get the roll out, probably to stop it blocking the loo. Security, what can l say, very pleasant but would have been no match for the travellers and obviously had no idea who was coming on and off the site as we witnessed one day a truck coming in that had obviously been rubbish clearing as they proceeded to fill all the bins with black bags, kids toy and loads of other stuff and then drive out. The final straw was witnessing a traveller woman vomiting on the grass, then going into the toilet and vomiting into the waste bin even though she was standing beside the toilet. People get ill but take a bucket with you. Plus side, we used the Retreat, despite having a limited menu and not much left to have the food we did get was good and the staff pleasant, so have a back up . l assume they are making money from the travellers but if l wanted to put up with all the hassle l could do it for free on the site up the road from me. It's the foreign people staying there l felt sorry for, what an introduction to the UK. l thought it was just us but judging by the other reviews we weren't alone. Its a shame because it would be a good site, taxi's are cheap into the town but won't be going again.

We bring our motorhome here often as we usually love coming here and its always had great reviews from me but this trip was an eye opener. Shearbarn you seriously need to Ban commercial vehicles and double axle caravans from this normally lovely site. 5am and they race through this site, no consideration for others and always up the no entry roads, speeding across the grass to their caravans. Security isn't 24 hours here so when they're not around this minority abuse the situation, and they're cocky about it too, they're also very abusive to their poor dogs and it was a disturbing sight to see!! Then to go into the loos at 10pm and see a collection of girls actually sitting on the sinks chatting is intimidating to say the least. Sort it out management before you lose us genuine holiday makers.
