Visited this place in December with my husband for afternoon tea which was excellent as was the service. However it lacks charm which it should have in abundance. The bar is soulless, one big room! Needs a nice big roaring fire, and in the reception area also. Probably better in the summer, looks like nice garden.

This was our third stay in around 18 months and although the food was still good - dinner and breakfast - we thought service standards had slipped. The rate was confused and, at check in, not what was agreed over the phone (in itself changed from the original quote), the bar staff new and a little directionless, and no one came...

Stayed at the Pelham Arms for a couple of nights over the New Years holiday. We got a lovely double room in the outbuilding (seconds from the main hotel), which was peaceful, spacious and done to a high standard. The hotel is in a perfect location, right in the heart of Lewes. Minutes from the river or the castle, and...

Followed review. We decided to try this place for my birthday. Simple menu. I ordered warm salad as starter. It should have been roasted beetroot, figs and butternut squash. I didn't get any roasted beetroot on my plate. Not sure if chef forgot to put on my plate. Also 90% was butternut squash. I feel it's not what the menu...

We were given the honeymoon suite and it was absolutely stunning and made our visit extra special. Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was tasty and the gardens were gorgeous. The bar staff on the night were excellent conversation too. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area.

Staff appear polite and friendly on the surface but when it comes to being organised and efficient and getting things done they are sadly lacking. They're faults are too numerous to mention and I'm amazed the manager still has a job! He needs to speedily put things to right or find another job-not in the hotel business.

We have visited the hotel on a number of occasions and really enjoy the ambience and location. The staff have always been very helpful. The breakfast provided a wide choice of food. Look out for dining deals and staying deals which are very good value.

O dear what a sad, bad experience for some members of my family when they had their Xmas dinner at Pelham House, Lewes. At £98 pounds a head you would not be wrong in expecting something special. The service was diabolical and the food of a very poor standard. Several weeks ago we were asked to provide a list of...

We stayed in Pelham House from Christmas Eve 2016 whilst visiting family in Lewes. Pelham House is well presented, with very attentive staff, we were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and well made up, with everything needed. We even woke up to a Christmas stocking on the door. Breakfast was well cooked and welcoming after a...

I was at Pelham House for a works' Christmas party. I had informed them well ahead of time of my dietary requirements. When my starter was served, I asked: Is this dairy-free? The response was: Yes, it is. So I began to eat. I had barely put the first mouthful in, when the plate was wiped away and the waiter...
