We stayed here for a long weekend . We booked this B&B for the first time & based our booking on others reviews. We were not disappointed. The vibe is danish vintage modernism & good location 10 minutes from the centre and an easy walk up a small hill / few steps ..not the steep quaint ones in the back garden (phew!) The decor is lovely & super clean and the hosts were very attentative. The breakfast was very nice although slightly quirky with lots homemade well thought through elements which was a nice change to the norm. Given the Covid situation they only booked 50% of the 6 rooms and provided each room a private breakfast room which was nice comfort in these early new world days. Yes we will definitely stay again.

The Aviemore is a pleasant, good value B&B with major positives and minor negatives. The hosts, Jeremy and Tomas, were wonderful: friendly, helpful, provided lots of information about Rye, routes, places to eat and visit, etc. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding. Parking, in the public car park three minutes walk away, was cheap and never a problem over our two nights & 3 days there. Rye is a lovely town. We did (just) manage the steep “secret” stairs from the back garden up to the high area of town, but they would be too hard for most older people. However, it only took a few minutes to walk into town by the easier gentler route via Fishmarket Road, and it’s convenient for much of the town anyway.
We had the “Cherry Room” at the back: quiet, clean, had coffee/tea facilities and a comfortable bed. But also very small, had just one uncomfortable chair, one small side table largely occupied by the coffee/tea stuff, very little storage for clothes and bags, and poor lighting (one overhead and two glaring bedside lamps). Being uncomfortable sitting in the room, we went down to the lounge about 9:45 pm, but it was already closed and locked. I do strongly recommend the Aviemore, but if there are two of you, you have more than a couple of bags and expect to spend time relaxing in the room, choose a bigger room.

We absolutely loved our stay at Aviemore. We were there for a Monday - Friday trip at the end of August and had a wonderful time exploring Rye and the surrounding areas thanks to brilliant tips and advice from Tomas and Jeremy. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, giving us space to store our bikes and advice on the best local cycle routes, lending us towels for the beach, and umbrellas when it rained. We also loved that they provide flasks of tea, a lifesaver on a long walk around the local nature reserves! The guest house itself is a really charming building with a gorgeous terraced garden, and our bedroom and the breakfast rooms are tastefully decorated with interesting art pieces and lovely handcrafted details. The breakfasts, all inspired by Jeremy and Tomas's travels, were all delicious (with our four night stay we got to try a different special every day), with lots of options for vegetarians and vegans too. The extra details like the delicious fresh fruit salads, homemade spreads and jams, tasty seed mixes and locally produced juice make it a real treat and a great start to the day. The personal touches made us feel so welcome, we couldn't have had a nicer time. It's also worth mentioning that they made us feel very comfortable and safe in their approach to Coronavirus precautions too.

We spent 3 nights at Aviemore recently and I wish we could have stayed longer! Jeremy and Tomas were the perfect hosts, sharing with us maps and routes for cycling and walking near Rye, and going above and beyond packing us up with biscuits and a thermos! The breakfast was sublime - such thoughtful touches with local fruit and homemade bread and everything had a story! The room was beautiful and absolutely spotless and full of wonderful stylish and eclectic pieces. Location was great, a few minute walk from any restaurant or bar. Could not find fault with anything, definitely stay here if you visit Rye!

We’ve just returned from a wonderful few days’ away at Aviemore Guest House and highly recommend a stay there. Jeremy and Tomas have created a very special experience – their attention to detail and passion for creating a warm and welcoming environment really made this stay one that we’ll remember.

The accommodation and décor has all been carefully put together with a fine eye for style and authenticity. We loved the look and the feel of the guesthouse that Jeremy and Tomas have created - and impressively it’s all been sourced sustainably from second-hand sources and lovingly restored.

The ethos of sustainability runs deeply throughout this guesthouse experience. With Jeremy and Tomas providing wonderfully fragranced sustainable toiletries and a significant amount of the food coming plastic free from local businesses.

Which brings me on to the wonderful Aviemore breakfasts. We loved everything about the breakfasts we had during our stay – the wide range of choices available and the quality of the locally sourced ingredients meant we had a delicious and enjoyable start to each day. More like eating at an independent café than the typical bed and breakfast or hotel breakfasts we’ve experienced before.

Jeremy and Tomas were thoughtful and caring hosts who took a genuine interest in us and our stay with them. They listened to what we wanted to get out of our trip and gave us great tips and recommendations for things to see and do around the area. Their kindness even extended to making us flasks of tea and the loan of their picnic blanket for out daily outings.

It was a pleasure to get to meet Jeremy and Tomas and really inspiring to see the way that they have created such a beautiful guest house experience with a very eco friendly and sustainable ethos.

Aviemore Guest House is set on a busy road, busy during the day and quiet at night, near a car park (those who don't know Rye need to know this as there is nowhere to park except the car parks). We never heard traffic noise from our room. It is run by two young owners who make the whole stay a special event. The rooms are carefully furnished with period design furniture, fittings, linen and impeccably clean and designed. There is a terraced garden behind and a secret set of private steps up into the town so you don't need to use the road. The breakfasts are beautifully cooked, lovingly prepared by Thomas, who offers traditional British or alternatively his own Czech home cooking - to die for! and an Ecuadorian take on huevos rancheros, even an Indian omelette for the brave, all with his own home prepared jams, nut butters, ketchups, home baked bread. The rooms have period books to enjoy, DVDs of good films - staying here was an unexpected joy. Also, Thomas advised us on walks, both local and further afield, which were all brilliant. Do stay here - it's proof that small is beautiful.

My husband and I have just got back from a two night stay at Aviemore and absolutely loved it! Jeremy and Tomas are so lovely - nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and always had time to answer our questions and tell us about the local area and give us lots of tips. They kindly packed us off with flasks, fruit, biscuits and a picnic blanket when we went out for the day. The breakfasts are incredible - the presentation and attention to detail is amazing, and everything was delicious (the rosti and chequito come highly recommended). We loved the style of the rooms - retro and homely, so much thought and love has gone in to them. We stayed in Birch which had a lovely view out on to a big green. Great location too with quick access to the centre of Rye up the steps in the back garden. We will be recommending Aviemore to all of our friends and family, and will definitely be back!

Aviemore Guest House is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean throughout. Jeremy and Tomas were great hosts - very welcoming and provided us with lots of helpful information about the area. The b&b was very Covid-safe, guests even had their own separate dining room for breakfast. The breakfast itself was superb! We'll definitely be staying again! Elena and Fabio

Simply put, Aviemore is a cut above other guest houses anywhere we've stayed before. Tomas and Jeremy gave such a warm welcome, though this was by no means just for first impressions sake. A genuine, interested and interesting couple, both with such a natural and effortless gift for hosting, decor and cooking. We felt nurtured and we were only guests for 2 nights! Our main reason for visiting Rye was to explore nearby Dungeness so it was a truly happy coincidence that both had useful information to impart but also felt an affinity with the area. We stayed in 'Birch' which was beautifully arranged and decorated with vintage finds, as is the rest of the property (Note:this room is at the front of the house and though we slept fine, there is a busy road just outside the property). The house is clean and the en suite facilities were spotless and spot on! The garden is breath-taking, possibly literally if you're not a climber! Rye is steep in parts and the steps leading up from the garden to the town are not for the faint-hearted, though there are several other ways you can go. Breakfast is charmingly laid out and accompanied with many homemade delicacies from Tomas's family recipes, all tasty and with complimentary flavours; we had the Chekito, the Ecuadorian and the full English over the course of our stay and all were delicious. Although we didn't have a budget for souvenirs, we may have been tempted by some of the Aviemore branded items from the little shop area near the kitchen, particularly the citrus shower gel. As for budget, Aviemore more than offers value for money. We parked at Military Road a few minutes walk away over the railway bridge for free, although there is a pay and display car park closer to the property. We can't say enough good things about Aviemore so we'll end our review here and let you find out for yourself how good it is when you book your stay ;)

We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend with friends, very welcoming. The rooms were very clean and very eco friendly. The breakfast was delicious and alongside the main you had the choice of cereals and fruit & toast. The owners were very attentive and went out of there way to make sure you knew of all the local points to visit. The house and rooms are very well decorated with all the little surprise touches dotted around made it extra special

Does it have parking
Answer from AVIEMORE2013

Thanks for your enquiry. As with most Guest Houses in central Rye, Aviemore does not have its own car park. However there are car parks opposite us 2 minutes walk away. These are free between 7pm and 9am and work out at a maximum of £5 per day thereafter. Alternatively there is free parking 5 minutes walk from us which we could advise you about, Regards Jeremy, Aviemore
