Visited here on the 22/10 for one night. Check in was easy and we were quickly shown to our room. We were on the top floor in a room called Whoopie. The room is spacious with a sofa bed one end and then king size bed with stand alone bath the other. There is no separate shower but the bath does have a shower attachment which was more than adequate. The floorboards are a bit squeaky but for us that added to the charm of the room. The Whitehouse is located in the high street so easy to access Rye and all of its charms. The rate includes breakfast which was excellent and plentiful and all the staff were welcoming and service very good though we had breakfast as soon as the bakery opened at 8.30 am which meant we had a choice of where to sit. We did have an issue with the room but the owners dealt with the matter really well and I would not hesitate to return and try some of the other rooms on our next visit to Rye.

Located in the High Street, this is the perfect place to explore Rye.

Our room was quite chic, big bed, interesting pictures, separate bathroom.

Parking is easy. A five minute walk to the station with daily rates of £3.10 including booking fee and less elsewhere.

Breakfast from the bakery menu was delightful. Perfect eggs benedict and I chose sour dough toast with bacon, tomatoes and mushroom, scrummy.

The cafe is open from 8.30 to approximately 3.30 and the bruch element is fabulous. My choice of Smoky beef brisket would grace any table and my wife's Bhaji Budda bowl was rich in flavour.

Aside from the obvious daily mooching in Rye it is worth looking up the Kino cinema, well signposted. A super little corner with two comfortable screen rooms, a well stocked cafe and bar, with a lovely seating area on the terrace.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing location. The bed was incredibly comfortable, great pillows, the room was spotlessly clean. Checking in during the evening was easy, they have a lock box outside for which they sent me a code that day. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the street but Rye is a very quiet town and we couldn’t hear any noise. The breakfast was amazing…, like seriously out of this world.
The only thing to keep in mind is parking. This isn’t a criticism of the hotel at all it’s purely for info purposes. There are numerous parking lots but be wary of parking in , actually make that driving into, the “wish street” car park. We are American, we drove into the car park but we couldn’t get the parking app to download and we decided not to park our rental car. Flash forward 3 weeks… they have cameras at the entrance and exit of the lot. We got hit with a 100GBP fine for spending 11 minutes there. Again this isn’t a reflection of the Whitehouse… it’s so you know where to “not” park.

I have nothing but praise for the team who run the property day to day; all the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and the best part of the stay.
Issues are with accommodation – I can't see the “meticulous attention to detail and careful consideration” the webpage describes; or how it achieves it’s star rating.

We stayed in the Whoopie room, which is spacious, but the bathroom looks like it has been squashed into an attic cupboard. The beams are REALLY low and come to a point just above the sink, which makes it almost inaccessible. There is no usable mirror to shave / apply make-up. The bathroom also has saloon doors which don’t fit; open or close properly. The shower tiles are also very mouldy and the hot water coming from the shower and the sink is scaldingly hot.
There is a hanging rail, but nowhere to put folded clothes.
Drinks are available in the room – bottled water (no glasses though), tea (only 1 bag per person per day) and coffee (1 pod per person per day). No fresh milk.
After 5 pm service is non-existent, there are no members of staff at the property. If guests need anything, minor or more serious, like being locked out, there is no one to help. Once the café staff leave, guests are left to fend for themselves or go without.
No websites mention the additional charge of £35 for the sofa bed (which is rock hard) to be made up, even if there are only two guests. Websites show this charge if there are three guests.

This hotel is great for one night, the staff are friendly (although I agree with some of the other reviews that checking in at the cafe till can lead to delays). The room was clean and unusual but the bathroom was small and hard to use given its in the roof). Also not much storage space. The breakfast was very tasty and the coffee good although perhaps hotel guests should be able to reserve a table as it gets busy. Perfect location and overall good value

Very convenient for everything but parking can be a challenge, though surprisingly cheap when you find it. Rooms are attractive and stylish with comfy king sized beds and good bathrooms. Breakfast is fine with plenty of choice but the cafe is rather soulless and the staff could be more welcoming.

Booked this hotel on Booking.com, the place is no more than a dog kennel, was told this property had a place to eat but when we arrived we was told that we would have to wait an hour to get a sandwich. If your staying in Rye you would get a better deal staying in the local bus stop. The staff are polite and would be better off getting a job elsewhere.

We visited Rye last week for the first time and we were very pleased to find the Whitehouse was dog-friendly (i.e. dogs are allowed inside the building) so we could enjoy their very tasty eggs Benedict in the cool.

The young staff were all very friendly and professional and looked after us all.

recommended.

Amazing stay, homely atmosphere with extremely friendly/helpful staff. The breakfast was spot on, eggs/avocado is such a good way to start the day. Location is excellent for exploring the town.
Thanks very much, will be back.

A lovely place , right in Rye . Parking for 24 hours where the market is on Thursday £2.00, no parking there on Wednesday night.

Lots of eating places and pubs.

Breakfast was lovely , the cakes sold there are so nice , pies and bread too. Very popular with the locals .

Hi. It is a five minute walk. Parking is not on the main high street but behind the hotel on the lower main road. Very easy to find.
