Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located just over the other side of the Strand Quay with ample parking. A short walk into the centre. Stayed here seven years ago and as good as I remember it. We had a bright spacious room overlooking the Strand. Very clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Great full English breakfast served quickly and hot. Can't fault it.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. I stayed in nice and neat, clean and well equipped room with a view of the river. Good location, close to the town and perfect for joining the start of the Rye to Hastings hike. Nice breakfast with plenty of hot and cold options. Overall, great value.

Really nice hotel, great location, excellent staff (very friendly & helpful) would definitely stay again if we visit Rye. Only gripe was the toilet, it took a while to fill up which wasn’t great for a family of 4 but it wasn’t a major issue and we adapted.

From checking in with reception, to bar staff, chef and waitresses who all were the friendliest I've ever known. Room was clean but the bed mattress was quite thin and had seen better days so I didn't have a very good night's sleep. To be honest the rooms could urgently do with an upgrade. Having said all that I'd still stay here again simply because of the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast was lovely. I had eggs Benedict with some bacon and my partner had the Full English.

Had a short break 13/14/ February with friends have to say this is one of the most friendly hotels I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. Having been in a managerial position myself for over 25yrs I know that managing a team can be challenging, but from the manager down every member of staff were lovely always had a smile helpful professional and nothing and I mean nothing was to much trouble for them. The rooms were lovely clean and very comfortable, breakfast second to none best eggs Benedict I’ve had, don’t miss this one, Just a 5min walk to little town with different individual shops supermarket chemist and plenty of history about it. If your looking for a relaxing few days away or a base to stay for a week or two don’t miss this lovely friendly hotel right on the river. Thank you we will return. The Hunters and Chapmans

We chose the River Haven Hotel for our first visit to Rye because it had a car park and was in walking distance of the centre of the town. We could see the river from our room which was a bonus. There was plenty of space and we were very comfortable. Best of all was the friendly staff and the delicious breakfast which came included in the very reasonable price. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open for dinner but Rye has plenty of plenty of alternatives within walking distance, from Fish and Chips to historic inns. We will certainly be returning.

Lovely comfortable hotel, very clean, great food and very friendly staff. Very convenient for the town with an excellent pub only five minutes walk away where the food was exceptionally good. Reasonably priced and the room was very quiet.

Have stayed in Rye many times but our first time here, and it won’t be our last! Rooms were clean and comfortable and we slept well in what is a great location. Plenty of parking and staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Also had the best full breakfast we have enjoyed in Rye (others should take note). Will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary weekend. Unfortunately the weather was not great but during the breaks in rain it was easy to walk into the town and explore. The room was comfortable with clean bedding and towels and was a generous size. The breakfast was fantastic and we had both the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and the full English during our stay, the poached eggs were absolutely perfect! The offering at the breakfast table was good too and included bread/toast, cereal, yogurt, granola, fruit and a range of spreads. The one thing that stuck with us overall was the friendly attitude of the staff and the way they got in with each other, I myself work in a small business and therefore the atmosphere is really important to me. There was no disparity between reception, catering and cleaning staff which was so refreshing. Everyone was there to fulfil their roles and they all did so with a smile on their faces. The only two negatives I could outline (neither of which would affect my score) were the poor water pressure in the shower and the lack of on demand Tv, which would usually be irrelevant to us as we like to explore our surroundings, but given the awful weather would have been nice while relaxing. All in all a lovely place, my husband and I both agreed we would come back to and would recommend without hesitation. Thank you all.
