We have just returned from a family holiday at the White Lion Hotel in Seaford.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom family room/apartment with breakfast included. Our family 'apartment' was fantastic, clean and well equipped (water, tea/coffee, fridge, sofa and small table and 2 chairs). The full cooked breakfast in the morning was exceptional, as well as the choice of cereal, fruit juice, and toast, if preferred.

The apartment consists of 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, lounge area, bathroom and hallways in between - plenty of room for a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters (lovely sea views from the lounge). The Hotel is centrally located near a small parade of shops, a 10 minute walk to the beach and Salts playground/park with a children's play area and cafe.

Michael, John and their team are exceptional hosts and nothing is too much trouble. After the lockdowns experienced it was a breath of fresh air to feel safe and comfortable during our stay. We cannot wait to book again soon! Thank you to The White Lion Team.

This is a little gem of a place with great value and customer service from the moment you arrive till you leave. The rooms are clean and well maintained and as others have mentioned the breakfast is superb. The breakfast service was excellent
There is free Wi-Fi and parking but you can park on the street you only minutes from town and the seafront.
It is a working pub so expect some noise but it was not an issue
Tip if you child is at Uni in Brighton it only 10 miles away and better value than Brighton

My family and I had a wonderful stay at The White Lion.
Staff were all so friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful at all times.
The rooms were lovely, very clean and plenty of space for us and all our things. The cleanliness of the place as a whole was absolutely on point, this really helped elevate any worries we had about staying away during Covid.
The food was absolutely the icing on the cake though. Delicious menu which made it hard to decide what to eat, as I wanted to eat it all! When our food arrived it tasted every bit as delicious as it looked.

Thanks so much for having my family and I, we had a wonderful stay and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The White Lion as a place to stay.

Pros

Cleaning staff were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to help us with our nappy situation.

Chef was REALLY nice, especially to my daughter and the cheesy garlic bread he made her was great.

The man we spoke to at check-in was...pleasant? (yep, really reaching here for something nice to say)

Cons

Room was excessively stained in every area apart from bathroom (pictures attached)

Bed sunk in middle (not just the mattress type)

Only place to hang clothes was a wardrobe with mould in it (pictures attached)

Blinds extremely thin, light coloured and poor quality, meaning it was light from 4am to 9pm.

Only one tiny bin in a whole 2-bedroom suite.

Stained rug in living room which smelt bad

TV didn’t work. Asked downstairs if someone could come, was told to wait three hours. Said it wasn’t acceptable as we had a young child to entertain as it was too hot to be outside, so they sent the chef up. Chef tried his best but couldn’t fix it so he said someone else would come...no one did. At all. Very steep steps to room and with a small child couldn’t keep up and down to ask. Explained this at checkout, was told we should’ve told someone. We did.

Charged the same price for room yet no cooked breakfast due to covid. Was told we could have a sausage or bacon roll but these turned out to be cold. Breakfast jugs were dirty and left out of the fridge, very unhygienic. Bread nearly stale. Fruit going soft.

Shower water pressure almost non-existent.

No reduction in price for any of the above. £125 a night in a two star (being kind there) room for two adults and a toddler, with no edible food and no tv (chose the place based on the fact we had a living area with a telly for hottest parts of the day) is insane. Really really poor.

Giving one star for the fact there weren’t cockroaches or rats. Really been trying to support small businesses and book with smaller firms of late, but will stick to Premier Inn next time!

Staying here for the first time, it became quickly apparent that this is a popular pub and hotel. Friendly staff, good room, decent menu, good breakfast included in the price, very handy for the ferry that I was catching…… Will stay again………do be aware however, that the fire alarm is very strident….( take note the DJ who was asked not to use his smoke machine for a birthday party in part of the hotel)

Our stay at The White Lion has been really lovely. The food in the restaurant is delicious and very reasonably priced, I had rump steak with pepper corn sauce - 😋 it was so good!!

There is plenty to choose from for breakfast, all well cooked and presented. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

Rooms and en suites clean and pleasent with lots of space.

Just home from a 2 night stay with 2 other ladies on a walking break. From the moment we arrived at the White Lion, Seaford, the staff were friendly and helpful. Our single rooms were equipped with everything we needed, very clean and comfortable. We were asked each morning if we had slept well and if there was anything we needed. Our second day coincided with the England v Germany football match which 2 of us were interested in watching. After a 12 mile round about walk to Alfriston we arrived back at the hotel to see every table reserved for the game. We were offered a table but could see it would be noisy and we didn't want to stifle over exuberant England fans due to our being there. We opted for watching the game in our rooms. Shortly after going to our rooms the owner offered us the key for a suite with a large tv already showing the match preamble. John told us the chef would be up to take our food order, and he did, and we could enjoy the suite for the evening. We were all blown away! Food (BBQ) was fabulous. Wine was equally fabulous and England did us all proud. When that second goal went in our none football fan shot her arms up in the air and shouted with the rest of us. We had a fabulous stay at the White Lion and will definitely be back. Enormous thanks too all the Treacy family for looking after us. Excellent customer service all around.

Very friendly welcome, they allow check in a lot earlier that big brand hotels which suited me. Clean and functional room for single occupancy with everything you need.
Pub downstairs has a good selection of beers on tap and again a welcoming atmosphere. I missed out out on trying the evening meal, but staff and clientele were more than helpful in guiding me to a number of alternative restaurants within walking distance.
WiFi worked without any issues. TV channels were missing a few, but probably just needs a retune, no dramas.
Booked the night before, checked in just after 1pm and the Breakfast included was perfect to set me up for a drive back up north that day.
Very close to walk to the sea front to get a lungful before setting off on your next journey.

I stayed at The White Lion for a couple for nights recently and it was very good.

The warm welcome I received when I first arrived was replicated throughout my stay there by every staff member I came across.

The single room I had was quite small but was ok for me for a couple of nights.

The food I had in the pub was brilliant, Beef Bourguignon one evening and Pork Belly the next were both great.

The staff here really are amazing, they seem to work together really well and all seem very happy which comes across really well when they are serving you.

I'd booked a room at the White Lion tonight through the OTA they use on their website. Unfortunately, when I arrived they had no record of my booking.
The lady on the bar, Chelsea, was very friendly and offered me a drink whilst they tried to sort it out.
It seemed there was some sort of glitch and they didn't have my reservation, nor any spare rooms.
There were no other hotels in Seaford or Newhaven with availability, so the owner offered to let me stay in his flat down the road as he was away.
I went to the flat, but felt a little awkward staying in someone else's home so decided to book a hotel in Eastbourne instead. Within minutes of leaving, I received a full refund.
So, whilst I didn't get what I was expecting, the fact that the owner was prepared to let a total stranger stay in his own home, and trust someone he's never met with his belongings, speaks volumes.

There is a car park, but it is open to the road. I do not remember any enclosed and secure parking for motorbikes. Allan
