Haven’t been in here in years and it’s a pleasant surprise to see just how lovely it is.

The staff are an absolute delight. We walked in with our dog and the young man with glasses was there within minutes with a water bowl for the dog and the blonde girl behind the bar was immediately engaging and charming.

The beer ice cold and fresh and we heard many compliments about the food.

A great great pub.

I came here in the early morning at 9am for breakfast, staff wasn't expected my visit, they apologised for the inconvenience and once opened they kept tidy the whole area and I waited patiently (my fault I should advise earlier next time ahahah). Once seated they served my breakfast, I had single espresso, porridge and toast with butter, it was great. Staff is nice, Debbie the waitress/bartender was really friendly and welcoming, she recommended me to visit some of the best places around the Cotswolds. Good place if you'like a break during your journey in Bibury. 5 stars

Came here with my partner on a Saturday evening and even though we booked it wasn’t that busy so didn’t feel overcrowded at all. Staff were friendly albeit took a while to get the bill etc.

Food was delicious. I had a rare steak with the tastiest peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had! Plenty of food too. My partner had trout and with the trout farm being a 5 minute walk away it was as fresh as you could get! The dessert were quite expensive but the sticky toffee pudding is absolutely worth it. Overall had a lovely time and would recommend.

Thank you for your review. Our chefs work very hard so a review like this certainly makes it all worthwhile for them! Our menu does change quite a lot so that we can give a variety to our customers who return often but the Trout is a firm favourite with it being sourced so locally as you have noted!

We booked a table for two acouple of weeks ago with no problems. On arrival the car park was nearly full so we knw it was going to be busy. We went to the front door to find people standing very close to it smoking and talking and there were some wear words heard, if we hadn't booked the table I would have gone elsewhere. On entering the bar we could not get anywhere near the bar as there were lots of people proping the bar up. A member of staff came and asked if we were ok and we said we had a table booked and were shown to our table quickly and were given menus. He did take our drinks order which came fairly quickly. We looked at the menu amd both of us choose the soup, then there was one burger and one steak ordered. The soup came out after bit of a wait and it was a good sized bowl of soup with bread that was heading towards tasting stale. The bowls were collected and the main arrived 2 minutes later. I would have liked a bit longer between courses. The steak was cooked to order but one of the chips was cold to the point i thought it had just came out of the fridge and the rest were piping hot. I had to ask for salt and pepper as there wasn't any on the table, only to be given them from another table. Surely there should be salt and pepper on all tables at the start of service. The fries with the burger came out with salt already on them which doesn't help people who need to reduce their salt intake. After we had finished we sat for quite a long time before the table was cleared and that was after we had moved the plates to the side of the table where the waiting staff went past and still they walked past the plates. Once they were collected no one came back to see if we wanted a dessert. We got fed up with waiting so we paid and left. At no point did anyone come and ask if the meal was ok. We left quite disappointed and won't be back.

Popped in for dinner and a drink on a Thursday night. Without intending any criticism this is not a hotel it is a Pub with rooms, which I didn't see or use.

Lovely, well kept, pint of Doombar and my partner had a couple of glasses of an Ausi Sauv Blanc which she enjoyed. She also had the Veggie Lasagne, I the Hunters Chicken and we shared Olives and bread as a starter. Total cost was £50 (+10% tip)

The menu was good, standard pub fare and the quantities substantial ... is £50 expensive in a small village that's on the major tourist through the Cotswolds? I think that's up to you to decide, in my opinion it's a bit high.

The pub itself is externally a lovely old Cotswold building, inside it has been restored to create four rooms around a central bar, beams (some looking a bit fake) have been painted black, the walls white and the half-height panelling cotswold green. Space has been maximised, which in my view has resulted in a somewhat souless pub which is a great shame.

On a visit to Bibury myself and my partner decided to have a meal at The Catherine Wheel situated in Bibury. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the main attraction of Bibury and the expensive price of food at the local hotel.
The Catherine Wheel has a great seating area outdoors if the weather is good and the staff are very welcoming and friendly and were very quick with regards to service.
The food was exceptional!, I myself had the sausage and mash and my partner had the fish and chips, portion size was very good, we did not leave there still hungry......tasty too!
On our next visit to Bibury we will certainly be returning to the Catherine Wheel and will be recommending to others.

We were planning to eat but it was basic pub food for high price, pizza straight out of Aldi was £14. Chips with everything and the salad was a few green leaves. Very young staff with no or little training but very pleasant. One family sent their food back saying it was not what they ordered and the poor waitress came back to say that the chef says it was what they ordered. Eventually they got the right food. We are fairly local and walk a lot in that area but not visiting the Catherine Wheel again. Also drinks pricy,

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you felt the menu was basic, we do review this daily and once our suppliers are no longer effected by Covid measures we do plan to increase and improve our menu but I can assure you our pizzas are hand made and most definitely not bought in. As you can imagine the impact on staffing has been severe in hospitality but we do train all of our staff regardless of age to the same level, I am sorry this didn't come across to you but I am pleased to hear they were pleasant.

It was our last evening on holiday, so booked a table for a meal after looking at some reviews and pictures of the food. When we arrived we asked for a table in the restaurant not the bar area and was seated right next to the toilet doors which wasn’t very pleasant, after half an hour we asked if we could be moved and was advised we could sit anywhere we wanted but was offered no help in moving all our drinks and food etc (so why put us at the only table near the toilets in the first place) ordered stone baked pizza and chips, that was not a stone baked pizza if it was it was well undercooked as the bottom was really soggy and the chips were frozen. We ordered a bottle of wine and when our glasses came one was dirty and the other was chipped, the staff couldn’t care less didn’t feel nice in any way shape or form. As I was paying the bill I heard a member of staff advising someone else to go to the swan pub as there chef was ILL , followed by not COVID related tho!!! Cost me £35 and I couldn’t get out of the place fast enough and finish my bottle of wine back at our cottage. Wouldn’t recommend and certainly won’t be going again

Thank you very much for your review. I am sorry it appears you didn't have the level of service we pride ourselves on. Our staff are extremely hard working and care deeply about the experience our guests have so it is surprising to hear that they seemed not to have provided this standard on this occasion. I can assure you that we have not had any staff illness so I am unsure what the conversation you overheard was about. In relation to the table, the waitresses would have seated you on the best suited table they had available at the time. After 30 mins this would have been a different situation as more would have become available. If a customer does move tables we do as standard practice help them move, I am sorry this wasn't the case. I understand you do not wish to return but I can assure you our standards are high and our food and service do reflect this as the majority of our reviews to state, I am sorry this wasn't the case for your visit and do hope that one day you might re consider and visit us again for a more positive experience.

Our party was 4 adults, 3 young children and we arrived 1.5hrs earlier than the time we booked as we clearly overestimated how long a 4 mile walk would take! The team were very accommodating and let us move our booking forward despite them being almost fully booked.

The food was better than I expected, we all enjoyed our lunch and the kids loved their wood fired pizza! Staff were really attentive and friendly. We will be back. Thank you.
