My husband and I had a three night stay in Strozzi Palace, Amalfi suite. The accommodation is spacious, modern and well situated. The staff we met (by chance as we left the building one morning) were very pleasant. Procedures are in place re Covid and adaptations have been made.

Our experience has been largely positive; however, not entirely. The advertised breakfast included in the price is not being provided due to Covid. This is something that I understand completely; however, I was not informed about this omission until check in, a few days before arrival. This could have been communicated earlier in the process. I emailed Strozzi Palace about this matter last week and I await a response from management. There were a few minor cleaning issues e.g. the fridge could have been wiped out more thoroughly. Some of the facilities needed attention i.e. ironing board cover was badly worn, no TV instructions (electronic would have sufficed, if hard copy has been removed due to Covid) and a wonky toilet roll holder. None of the windows open in the suite. Air con and a fan were provided; however, the room temperature was extremely uncomfortable at times. Noise was an issue. There was some street noise and lack of soundproofing meant we were disturbed by guests in the room above, two nights in a row. They seemed to be merely walking around and using the loo, however this made a dreadful racket in our room which resulted in disturbed sleep.

There were many positives aspects of our stay but there is room for improvement.

Our post-lockdown check-in was totally impersonal with door codes being emailed to us – no problem. Our room (Napoli) was wonderful with a large comfortable bed, separate sitting/kitchen area and large bathroom with a large bath/shower. Big fluffy towels and nice toiletries. Small patio area was a little disappointing with high screens on two external sides – a planning issue I suspect – but still a nice facility to have a drink outside on a nice day. On the negative side there was no room safe and poor insulation between floors meant that we could hear every footfall above. All in all still great and we would return but perhaps to a room on the second floor (Amalfi, Napoli and Milano are on the first) but be aware that there is no lift.
Our AC was fine - figured out that you needed to point the remote control at the unit high on the wall.

Milano apartment on the first floor was great. Stylish, clean, lovely mirrors everywhere. Bed was amazing, matress comfy & pillows too. Soap, washing up liquid, milk, tea & coffee sachets provided.
Great location very short walking distance to shops, restaurants, pubs & car park.
Negatives are that we stayed a Saturday & Sunday night & the Saturday night was terrible to get to sleep because the pub next door was playing thumping booming music till about 11.30. Another negative is that the Sunday night there was a very heavy footed person staying above us and I would have gone as far as to say that maybe it was being cleaned because of the amount of movement there was up there. So maybe stay on the second floor.
General road noise is no problem.
Breakfast at The Cosy Club was good, dinner at The Mayfair was also good.
30 minute trip to Broadway which is a must and Bourton on Water 25 minutes from Broadway. Lovely day out.
Also visited Clearwell Caves.
Overall lovely stay.

Great location (one block from the center of town), great room with a nice kitchen, living area and super clean. The location was very, very quiet and everything I needed to make the trip perfect. Loved the bar right next door and the fridge was stocked with everything I needed for continental breakfast. Slept very well.

What a fantastic apartment. Why stay in a chain motel when you can have the Strozzi Palace! We would definitely recommend staying here for a short break in Cheltenham. Easy walking distance to the great bars, restaurants and shops. Parking very close by and reasonable too.
The room was equipped well and had a small kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. There was fresh bread, orange juice and milk too, not those uht pods, as well as proper coffee and decent tea bags.
Bed was big and comfy too.
Quite a few stairs up to the 2nd floor though so just be aware of this if you struggle with them.
Will definitely be back though for a longer weekend stay

This was our third stay in the Milano suite - and we have already booked our next. The suite is immaculately clean, comfortable and has everything needed for a relaxing stay.
Absolutely no interior noise from other suites (and being Races week we understand all suites were taken), and minimal noise from outside - only traffic and not enough to cause any issue at all.
We saw the lovely staff on a few mornings - always smiling and keen to check if we needed anything.
All in all a great stay yet again and we look forward to returning.

While this place has its good points, what really lets it down is that it doesn't do what it says on the tin. These are "serviced suites" with no service available when things go wrong.
First, the good points. The eccentric-looking building is near to the centre of Cheltenham and has an interesting history; it used to be an electricity sub-station. The rooms are spacious and stylish (photo). I stayed in the Siena suite, which is basically a bedsit with an ensuite bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. "Breakfast" was provided in the shape of a full loaf of bread, buttter, coffee, milk, OJ. Siena also has a small enclosed outdoor "deck", and a computer workstation. Cleanliness and presentation was average; there was some dust on surfaces, the flooring had seen better days, and some of the furniture was worn.
So why the mediocre score? I took the place for six nights, thinking that I could work half-time and go hiking the other. However, the wifi in my particular room was unusable; my tablet could pick up a weak signal near the door, but my laptop not at all (see photo for signal strength at the workstation). So evenings were spent sitting on the stairs, and I could get very little work done. I informed the reception the first day that I badly needed a connection and why, but nothing useful was done before I left. The problem is that the reception is only manned (and any technicians can only attend) in the mornings, all "issues" have to be resolved through the London office.
So, unusually for me, I cannot recommend this place at all, especially at the price. It might be OK if you are visiting for leisure and want some style. However, if you are in Cheltenham for business, I wouldn't take the risk.

I booked Tuscany for one night for my wife and I to break up a long journey. I'd expected it to be a little slice of elegance, but it left me feeling a bit deflated. There was only one window in the whole apartment, which meant no windows in the bedroom, and no windows in the bathroom. This made it feel a little bit claustrophobic. The bed itself is a very good size, yet I slept badly in it. Lack of a window, maybe? I liked the attention to detail in the bathroom - the hexagonal fittings matching with the hexagonal floor tiles was a nice touch - it felt quite art deco. The apartment itself was well appointed and very clean (apart from one mug with a ring stain inside). I understood a continental breakfast was included. This turned out to be cereal, bread, coffee and OJ. I suppose I was also expecting pastries, preserves and some sort of a cured meat, so that felt a bit measly too. I notice on the website, every effort has been made to hide the view from the only window (of, amongst other things, the beer garden of the pub next door). The apartment felt like what it is - a small space cut out of a building which was never intended to be lived in. I feel bad giving it three stars (and if you look back at my reviews, it's rare that I do), but three stars means average, and that, for the money, is what I feel Tuscany is.

The only reason for a 4 * review and not a 5* was the lack of attention to detail that we found in our suite. The staff were excellent, the cleanliness of the suite was generally fine, the bed comfortable, the location convenient and we appreciated the welcome pack of breakfast foods and drinks in the kitchenette which had everything we needed. But, one of our towels was frayed, the soap dish cracked and the tiling in the shower stained. There was an odd assortment of shampoos and lotions in the bathroom. Products from one high end manufacturer would have been better. The outdoor space was most unappealing and needed a thorough clean. There were also towels stuffed between the stairs and the window which I assume were to clear up a leak. These may sound trivial things but if the aim is to provide 5* accommodation then everything needs to be perfect. We never discovered the source of the smell of drains that we complained of when we arrived but it was seemingly sorted by the manager when she was on duty the morning after our arrival. Had she been there the previous afternoon when we first arrived I’m sure the problem would have been sorted sooner.
