Stayed in Oak room at front of property. Woke up to foggy morning so views a little limited, but deer grazing in the paddock out front & definitely felt a long way away from the bustle and noise of Cheltenham town. Room spacious with the sofa & chair. Lovely comfortable bed, didn't hear a noise all night! Bathroom huge & has a deep bath if that's your thing! Breakfast served to the room - bacon & egg bap was so filling that I couldn't eat the cereal. This is a really lovely place to stay - I spend a lot of time working in Cheltenham & will definitely be back. Thank you for a restful stay.

This is a real gem of a B&B. My friend and I are currently walking the Cotswold Way and stayed here for two nights. It isn’t on the trail but Detmore House does offer drop-offs and pick-ups. Gill and her husband Hugh were delightful hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. The facilities are second to none and the House is in delightful grounds. In fact we saw a couple of deer in the grounds one morning. They allowed us to phone out for a takeout service which really helped as we were in no fit state to go out after our daily hikes. Gill did offer to drive us into town for our dinner but we declined. Due to Covid restrictions breakfast is served in your room but this was no disadvantage as the breakfast is through menu choice and excellent. All in all a great stay and highly recommend.

This was a very nice property in lovely grounds. The room was spacious and well appointed. The main concern was that we couldn’t get in. We arrived around 5pm, having walked about 20 miles on Cotswold Way. The accommodation was a further mile or so off the route. There was no-one in when we rang the bell. We noted there was an information card by the front door giving a mobile number to call if there is no reply to the door, making us think this is not an infrequent situation. Regrettably there was no reply to the mobile either so I left a voicemail. It took an hour before our call was returned. Unfortunately no apology was offered and this was a disappointing end to what had been a tough day.We found the proprietors quite frosty and not especially friendly. Incidentally, when returning to the house in the evening, there was no illumination along the long access drive, making the walk somewhat tricky.

We booked this at very short notice after being let down by another establishment. The views were fantastic and the home was clean. The toilet flush was quite difficult to work and the shower - whilst nice - needed an anti slip mat and/or a hand rail as the bath was quite high to step in and out of. Our room was very comfortable and clean though and had all we needed in the way of tea and coffee, biscuits and toiletries. The beds were comfy too. Gill and Hugh were friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice was excellent. The breakfast was delicious too and such good quality we all really enjoyed it.

The home is beautiful but in need of repair! Our toilet seat was broken and the owner could not do anything about it. The ceiling had long water cracks in the dining area. The rooms are very spacious as well as the bathrooms. But housekeeping was very poor!

The house and bedrooms look lovely on Detmore House website. However, my room was booked via my walking tour company on my behalf and I found I was put up in The Cottage annexe at the back of the house with a separate entrance. This does not show on the Detmore House rooms on the website. The Cottage is damp, cold, no wi-fi signal and no TV. Breakfast was taken in Detmore House and was good.

A very calming and well placed establishment. Beautiful grounds, large room, gracious unobtrusive hosts. Breakfast choices ordered the night before from a range of choices. Bit of a walk into the town for dinner approximately 20minutes

This is a bit off the Cotswolds way, and the walk down the A40 is not too pleasant. But Detmore House is in beautiful grounds, a fine and interesting house. The room was spacious and comfortable with a fine bay window. A nice bathroom, spoiled by the fact that the bath takes too long to fill - nice shower though. The owners offered a lift to Charlton Kings for dinner, but we decided to do the 20 min walk to the Royal (recommended). Breakfast was OK.

After a day throwing money at various bookies at the races we needed an oasis of calm...and eventually we found it. I say ‘eventually’ as Detmore House is not the easiest place to find, we drove past the entrance a couple of times before phoning the owners who gave us clear directions. It was well worth all the effort however, set in beautiful grounds we were greeted by Hugh who took time to give us the low down on all the room’s features. After a good nights sleep we had an excellent breakfast (smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for me). We will return!
